Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to examine the importance of ikhlas (sincerity) in the BDI (Belief, Desire, Intention) decision-making model for green agriculture development among rural people in Palakka District. Green agricultural techniques, including the use of organic practices, water-saving management, and biodiversity conservation, are significant in maintaining environmental health. Research Methods: An integrative approach with quantitative methods combined with an Islamic economic perspective was used in this study. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey completed by 152 respondents from rural communities with experience or potential in green agriculture. The data were then analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques. Results: The results show that ikhlas, desire, and belief significantly influence intention and decision to implement green agriculture, with intention acting as a mediator of this relationship. Conclusion: In conclusion, the study indicates that the addition of the value of ikhlas alongside belief and desire can increase the intention and decision of rural communities to implement green agriculture. The inference in practice is that policies that incorporate spiritual values within green agricultural development can encourage active community participation. Findings contribute to the formulation of policies for sustainable agriculture, with a focus on prioritizing spiritual values toward sustainable environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for a spiritual approach to addressing the ecological crisis caused by chemical-based agriculture. The Islamic value of qana’ah, reflecting simplicity and sufficiency, is believed to be able to drive behavioral changes in farmers toward sustainable organic farming practices. The purpose of this study is to analyze the mediating role of qana’ah in the relationship between social norms and access to information, as influenced by technological innovation, on organic farming practices. The study used a quantitative approach using the SEM-PLS technique with 155 farmers in Dua Boccoe District, Bone Regency. The results indicate that qana’ah significantly mediates the influence of social norms and access to information on organic farming practices. Furthermore, technological innovation has an indirect effect on farming practices through improving social norms and access to information. In conclusion, qana’ah has proven to be a strategic value that integrates spiritual, social, and informational aspects in supporting ecological transformation in the agricultural sector. This study recommends the integration of qana’ah values into community-based sustainable agricultural education and policies.

Abstract

This study investigates the mediating role of nazāhah conceptualized as integrity, honesty, and purity of intention in strengthening consumer trust among micro-scale nasi kuning enterprises in Bone Regency, Indonesia. Grounded in Islamic Business Ethics Theory and Consumer Trust Theory, the research examines how ethical selling behavior, compliance with Islamic values, and business social responsibility influence consumer trust through the internalization of nazāhah. Using a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected from 150 respondents and analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results demonstrate that nazāhah has a strong and significant direct effect on consumer trust, while also fully mediating the relationships between social responsibility and trust, as well as indirectly linking ethical and religious values to trust formation. These findings indicate that ethical awareness and Sharia compliance alone are insufficient to generate trust unless they are transformed into consistent moral conduct through nazāhah. The study contributes to the literature by empirically positioning nazāhah as a strategic ethical mechanism that bridges spiritual values and market behavior. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of integrity-based education and socially responsible practices in fostering sustainable trust within Islamic micro-enterprises.

Abstract

This study examines the mediating role of muḥāsabah in shaping branded cosmetic purchasing habits among Generation Z by integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior and Self-Regulation Theory. Using a quantitative approach and Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares, the research analyzes the relationships among attitude, subjective norms, intention, muḥāsabah, and purchasing habits. The findings indicate that attitude and subjective norms significantly influence purchase intention, which in turn strongly predicts branded cosmetic purchasing habits. Muḥāsabah exerts an indirect effect by strengthening evaluative attitudes and sensitivity to social norms, thereby reinforcing intention formation. These results suggest that Generation Z consumption behavior is not merely impulsive but reflects a structured decision-making process involving psychological, social, and spiritual reflection. The study contributes to consumer behavior literature by introducing muḥāsabah as a spiritually grounded self-regulatory mechanism within ethical and value-oriented consumption frameworks.

Abstract

This study examines the mediating role of tawāḍuʿ in reducing ecological poverty through economic behavior. It integrates the concepts of deep ecology, environmental justice, and khilāfah to explain the relationships among environmental injustice, natural resource exploitation, economic greed, sustainable environmental policy, and ecological poverty. Using a quantitative approach with SEM-PLS, data were collected from 245 Muslim middle-class respondents in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The findings show that environmental injustice increases resource exploitation, which intensifies economic greed and leads to less responsible economic behavior while weakening tawāḍuʿ. In contrast, sustainable environmental policy enhances tawāḍuʿ, fostering ethical awareness and promoting more responsible economic behavior. Tawāḍuʿ significantly contributes to reducing ecological poverty and serves as a key mediator linking structural and behavioral factors to socio-ecological outcomes. The results indicate that ecological issues are not merely technical or economic but are also shaped by moral-spiritual dimensions that influence economic behavior. This study contributes by proposing an integrative ecological–structural–spiritual model and empirically validating the role of tawāḍuʿ within Islamic environmental ethics. Practically, it highlights the importance of integrating moral-spiritual values into sustainable environmental governance.

Abstract

This study examines the role of khasyā as a mediating mechanism linking Islamic ethical values to the intention to support equitable and sustainable water governance in rural Muslim communities. Grounded in Islamic Environmental Ethics Theory and Islamic Leadership Theory, the study investigates the relationships among simplicity, environmental awareness, justice-oriented leadership, khasyā, and the Drive for Water Governance. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among 151 rural Muslim residents in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that khasyā has a strong positive effect on the Drive for Water Governance (β = 0.812, p < 0.001). Environmental awareness (β = 0.342, p < 0.001) and justice-oriented leadership (β = 0.537, p < 0.001) significantly strengthen khasyā, with justice-oriented leadership demonstrating the greater contribution. Simplicity significantly influences environmental awareness (β = 0.706, p < 0.001) and justice-oriented leadership (β = 0.707, p < 0.001), but its effect on khasyā is fully mediated through these two constructs. Indirect effect analysis further confirms that khasyā significantly mediates the relationships between environmental awareness and water governance (β = 0.277, p < 0.001) as well as justice-oriented leadership and water governance (β = 0.436, p < 0.001). These findings demonstrate that spiritual consciousness serves as a critical pathway through which Islamic ethical values are translated into governance-related behavioral intentions, highlighting the importance of integrating spiritual, ethical, and leadership dimensions into sustainable water governance frameworks
