Abstract

Salah satu cara pengarang karya sastra dalam menyampaikan pesan atau gagasan kepada pembaca atau penikmat sebagai hasil dari kontemplasinya adalah dengan cara pemanfaatan “stile”. Yang dimaksudkan dengan “stile” – berasal dari bahasa Inggris “style” – di sini adalah cara pengarang dalam pemakaian bahasa dalam mengungkapkan amanat yang ingin disampaikan kepada pembaca atau penikmat. Stile ditandai dengan ciri formal kebahasaan, seperti pilihan kata, struktur kalimat, bentuk-bentuk bahasa figuratif, penggunaan kohesi dan hoherensi dan lain-lain. Makna stile menyaran pada pengertian cara penggunaan bahasa dalam konteks tertentu, oleh pengarang tertentu, untuk tujuan tertentu, dan sebagainya. Tujuan akhir dari pengarang tiada lain untuk memberikan kepuasan, kenikmatan yang hakiki kepada para penikmatnya. Pada gilirannya “style” ini mesti diajarkan dan dilatih penggunaannya kepada siswa atau mahasiswa dalam pengajaran.

Abstract

This research was intended to know if there was any positive corralation between themastery of past tense and the ability of writing recount text of the twelfth grade students ofSMAN 1 Gianyar in academic year 2020-2021. There were in all 75 students taken as thesamples of the research using random sampling with lotery system. In the researchinstruments the samples were asked to write sentences in recount text and textconstruction test. The data obtained were statistically analysed using presequisit analysis(normality and homogeneity test) and Person Product moment correlational and t-test. It isrevealed that the alternative hypothesis is vividly accepted. It means that there wassignificant correlation between the mastery of past tense and the ability of writing recounttext of the twelfth grade students of SMAN 1 Ganyar in 2020-2021 academic year.

Abstract

Most students learning English have difficulty identifying general information, specific information, and text meanings and references due to a lack of vocabulary. Therefore, an appropriate and effective teaching strategy should allow students to improve their reading comprehension. The present study attempts to find out the reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students of the SMP Negeri 3 Ubud in the school year 2020/2021 could be improved by the KWL strategy in combination with the image. This research used a classroom action design by conducting two cycles and each cycle consisted of two sessions. The research conducted pre-test, post-test, and questionnaires to collect the data before analyzing it. The results of the research showed that there was a significant improvement in the subjects' performance in the pre-and post-test. From the questionnaire conducted in the last cycle, the students received a positive response regarding their changing learning behavior in relation to the application of the KWL strategy. Based on the findings of the study, the students' reading comprehension can be improved by using the KWL strategy in combination with an image.

Abstract

This present study used a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design in which either a single group or multiple groups were observed subsequently to some agent or treatment presumed to give change. The undertaking research was mainly intended to find out whether or not students’ video production based on Subak Cultural Landscape influenced the speaking ability at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tampaksiring. The students were required to make some groups consisting of 8-9 students and produced their own video related to a material taken from Subak Cultural Landscape text book. Meanwhile, the instruments used by the researcher were tests and questionnaire. After obtaining all the required data then the researcher used matched t-test formula to analyze the data. The result of the data analysis showed that, the mean score of pre-test was 43.22 and the mean score of post-test was 51.11. Based on the data calculation, the t-observed was higher than the t-table; therefore, the hypothesis of the study was accepted which meant there was a significant influence of students’ video production on speaking ability of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tampaksiring.

Abstract

The present study was devoted to the implementation of a community service to Elementary school teachers aiming at improving the teachers’ competence in designing and implementing authentic assessment. Participants of this activity were the elementary school teachers in Klungkung district in which the total number was 35 teachers. Before the training started, the teachers were given preliminary test to determine the extent of the ability or competences of teachers on authentic assessment. After figuring out the initial abilities and identifying the needs of the teachers on authentic assessment, then the training was conducted. The results of the final test showed that the ability of teachers in designing and implementing authentic assessment increased significantly. In addition, interviews and questionnaires showed that the motivation of teachers on designing and conducting authentic assessment also increased positively.

Abstract

The study aims at figuring out whether or not the speaking skill at the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 2019/2020 can be improved through the implementation of Guessing Games.The subjects were the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara.There were 36 subjects which consist of 12 females and 24 males.The design was classroom action research design. The research was carried out through implementing Guessing Games in two cycles and the obtained data was analyzed quantitively from the pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2; then qualitatively from the questionnaire. The result showed that the students’ mean score had significant improvement from the pre-test was 49.72 to 64.86 in post-test 1, and 75.69 in post-test 2. Furthermore, to collect the additional supporting data; the researcher administered the questionnaire at the end of cycle II. It showed that the students responded positively and it could be seen that the result of the questionnaire showed the percentage of 60.68% Sangat Setuju/SS (strongly agreed) with the implementation of Guessing Games in improving speaking skill.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic period was a special condition that caused different learning drawbacks and learning losses in the achievement of student competencies. In addition to learning losses, many national and international studies state that Indonesia has also experienced a learning crisis for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to change the curriculum so that educational institutions are able to improve the quality of education. This research was conducted to improve the understanding of teachers as participants in the independent learning curriculum training. This study found that teachers’ understanding increased significantly after being given training on the independent learning curriculum. The results of this study imply that intensive training is needed on the concept of implementing the independent learning curriculum so that teachers can carry out more effective learning.

The findings of the research revealed that there were significant improvements in subjects' achievement from the pre-test and post-test. From the questionnaire that was administered in the last cycle, the students gained positive responses in terms of their changing learning behavior toward the application of KWL strategy. Based on the findings of the study, the student’s reading comprehension can be improved through KWL strategy combined with the picture.

Abstract

Abstrak The study of English assessment investigated the types and quality of test distributed to junior high school students and develop it into a software based test module. The study aimed to know how valid and reliable is the multiple-choice test as a competence measurement device. The method or the design of the study applied the research and development with 4D phases, namely define, design, develop, disseminate through 1) checking syllabus, observing learning process, and constructing test items as module draft (INPUT), 2) considering validity and reliability of the test from the expert including trying out the tests (PROCESS); and 3) designing the appropriate test items into software products (OUTPUT). The source of data was taken from the result of observation sheet, interview sheet, questionaire and the the result of tryout of model tests given to SMPN 2 and SMPN 3 Mengwi students. The result of the study after being analysed quantitatively showed that 63 test items was valid and 37 was invalid. The fifty-valid test was distributed to students of SMPN 3 Mengwi. Based on the result, the mean score was 72.53. 21 of 40 students passed the minimum passing grade achievement ank and 19 students still needed improving. The highest score was 95 and the lowest one was 26. The medium was 78 and the mode was 53. After measuring the reliability level, the standard deviation ranged 0.50 – 1.00. meaning that the test was appropriate to be applied as measuring device.The valid test was then reconstructed to be raw material of software module.
