Abstract

This present study used a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design in which either a single group or multiple groups were observed subsequently to some agent or treatment presumed to give change. The undertaking research was mainly intended to find out whether or not students’ video production based on Subak Cultural Landscape influenced the speaking ability at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tampaksiring. The students were required to make some groups consisting of 8-9 students and produced their own video related to a material taken from Subak Cultural Landscape text book. Meanwhile, the instruments used by the researcher were tests and questionnaire. After obtaining all the required data then the researcher used matched t-test formula to analyze the data. The result of the data analysis showed that, the mean score of pre-test was 43.22 and the mean score of post-test was 51.11. Based on the data calculation, the t-observed was higher than the t-table; therefore, the hypothesis of the study was accepted which meant there was a significant influence of students’ video production on speaking ability of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tampaksiring.

Abstract

The present study was devoted to the implementation of a community service to Elementary school teachers aiming at improving the teachers’ competence in designing and implementing authentic assessment. Participants of this activity were the elementary school teachers in Klungkung district in which the total number was 35 teachers. Before the training started, the teachers were given preliminary test to determine the extent of the ability or competences of teachers on authentic assessment. After figuring out the initial abilities and identifying the needs of the teachers on authentic assessment, then the training was conducted. The results of the final test showed that the ability of teachers in designing and implementing authentic assessment increased significantly. In addition, interviews and questionnaires showed that the motivation of teachers on designing and conducting authentic assessment also increased positively.

Abstract

The study aims at figuring out whether or not the speaking skill at the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 2019/2020 can be improved through the implementation of Guessing Games.The subjects were the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kuta Utara.There were 36 subjects which consist of 12 females and 24 males.The design was classroom action research design. The research was carried out through implementing Guessing Games in two cycles and the obtained data was analyzed quantitively from the pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2; then qualitatively from the questionnaire. The result showed that the students’ mean score had significant improvement from the pre-test was 49.72 to 64.86 in post-test 1, and 75.69 in post-test 2. Furthermore, to collect the additional supporting data; the researcher administered the questionnaire at the end of cycle II. It showed that the students responded positively and it could be seen that the result of the questionnaire showed the percentage of 60.68% Sangat Setuju/SS (strongly agreed) with the implementation of Guessing Games in improving speaking skill.
