Abstract

Cattle farmers in Gunungkidul Regency face several cattle diseases such as Helminthiasis, Anthrax, Downer Cow Syndrome, and Intoxication in which these diseases mostly attack female cows. To prevent financial loss for the farmers, the government facilitates them with cattle insurance. This study aims to determine the reasons and the cattle farmers’ willingness-to-pay for the cattle insurance by conducting a survey addressed to 100 cattle farmers and identifying the factors related to it. This study used a Contingent Valuation Method in estimating the cattle farmer's WTP. The various factors that influence the farmer's WTP were analyzed by using natural logarithm regression models. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the willingness-to-pay for cattle farmers who did not participate in cattle insurance are 22,600 IDR and farmers who participate in cattle insurance are 36,320 IDR. Education, household income, and farmers’ interest in the insurance were positively effecting toward the farmers' willingness-to-pay. However, age and the number of families showed the negative ones toward the farmers’ willingness-to-pay.

Abstract

This study explores the price sensitivity of medium-quality rice among low- to middle-income households in Kota Baru Driyorejo, Gresik Regency, Indonesia, using the Van Westendorp Price Sensitivity Meter (PSM). Rice is the staple food for most Indonesians, particularly for low-income households where it fulfills essential caloric needs. This research identifies the acceptable price range for medium-quality rice, revealing critical thresholds: the Point of Marginal Cheapness (PMC) at Rp 10,000, the Point of Marginal Expensiveness (PME) at Rp 12,500, the Optimal Price Point (OPP) at Rp 11,000, and the Indifference Price Point (IPP) at Rp 11,500. These insights highlight the delicate balance between affordability and perceived quality, underscoring the need for strategic pricing to mitigate financial strain on vulnerable populations. A purposive sampling method targeted 335 respondents from households with monthly incomes of IDR 2,000,000 to IDR 3,500,000, ensuring the focus on those most affected by price fluctuations. The findings provide actionable guidance for policymakers and market stakeholders to develop equitable pricing strategies, stabilizing rice consumption and promoting food security. Future research should address production efficiency and expand the scope to other regions and demographics to refine pricing policies and their socioeconomic impact.

Abstract

Sambal, a type of chili sauce is a popular food product, making it essential for producers to develop the right strategies to boost sales. Social media Marketing was important in introducing products and increasing consumer purchase intention for packaged sambal. Marketing strategies have evolved alongside the advancement of digital technologies. One of the digital technology developments that supports marketing is social media. This study aims to analyze the power of social media advertising on the purchase intention of packaged sambal. Specifically, it investigates the influence of visuals, special offers, music, language, interaction, endorsements, and followers on purchase intention. Data were collected through surveys distributed to 106 social media users. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis and is conducted using SPSS software. The results show that visual elements and the number of followers significantly influence consumer’s purchasing intention. A simple and visually appealing design enhances information comprehension, making it easier for potential buyers to understand product details. Additionally, the high number of followers could increase consumer trust and brand credibility, positively affecting purchase decisions.  On the other hand, factors such as special offers, music, language, interaction, and endorsements did not affect purchase intention significantly. These results provide valuable insights for packaged sambal producers, highlighting the importance of optimizing the social media marketing strategies by focusing on the most effective elements.

Abstract

Edible coating is one of the postharvest handling technology innovations that functions to extend the shelf life of fruit and maintain its quality. This study aims to analyze the level of consumer acceptance of the use of aloe vera-based edible coating on fruit. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained from 140 respondents through an online questionnaire and analyzed using the Likert scale and descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that 82.86% of respondents were aware of edible coating, defined as a thin layer applied to the surface of fruit to extend shelf life, maintain quality, and enhance the safety and appearance of fruit products during storage and distribution. Social media serves as the primary source of consumer information about edible coating. Adequate knowledge and information regarding the safety of edible coating materials influence consumer decisions to purchase fruit products with edible coating. Therefore, more intensive education is needed to increase consumer acceptance of this innovation
