Abstract

Companies need additional funds to improve their business activities, and one source of these funds is investors, which involves the cost of equity capital. Several factors influence the cost of equity capital, including the disclosure of intellectual capital, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and earnings quality. This study empirically examines the impact of intellectual capital disclosure, CSR, and earnings quality on the cost of equity capital. The research sample consists of 30 manufacturing companies in the consumer goods industry sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2017-2021 period. The results show that intellectual capital disclosure, CSR, and earnings quality significantly affect the cost of equity capital in manufacturing companies within the consumer goods industry. Higher disclosures of intellectual capital and CSR are expected to enhance a company’s transparency and reputation, thereby reducing the cost of equity capital. However, the findings also indicate that increased disclosure can heighten investors’ perceived risk, which, in turn, raises the cost of equity capital. The implication is that companies need to balance information disclosure to effectively manage perceived risk and optimize the cost of equity capital.

Abstract

Abstract

The current trend is for women to hold board positions due to legislation to increase the role of women on company boards. The diversity of women's boards can improve a company's ability to achieve financial performance. This study aims to determine the effect of gender diversity on financial performance through accounting conservatism as a mediating variable in manufacturing companies in the consumer goods sector in Indonesia. The sample of this research is 33 manufacturing companies in the consumer goods sub-sector that are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2016-2020. The results of this study prove that the role of accounting conservatism is able to mediate the relationship between gender diversity and financial performance. This proves that greater gender diversity increases profits and supports shareholder value economics because it emphasizes the need for gender balance between men and women to optimize the company's financial performance. The implication is that various company boards will more optimally determine accounting policies and apply conservative principles in managing the company. This study recommends that the company evaluates and communicates the level of gender diversity within the company.

Abstract

In today's dynamic and competitive business environment, innovation is a key driver of organizational success. Companies must leverage their human capital to foster creativity and adaptability, particularly in response to rapid technological advancements. However, many organizations face challenges in cultivating innovation work behavior (IWB) among employees, often due to a lack of supportive leadership or intrinsic motivation. This research aims to examine the influence of inclusive leadership and intrinsic motivation on innovation work behavior, mediated by creative self-efficacy, at PT Global Humanity Innovation (GHI). Using a quantitative research method, data were collected through a census survey involving all 61 employees across various divisions. The analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. The results indicate that both inclusive leadership and intrinsic motivation have a significant positive effect on innovation work behavior. Furthermore, creative self-efficacy significantly mediates the relationship between inclusive leadership and innovation work behavior, as well as between intrinsic motivation and innovation behavior. The study highlights the importance of psychological and leadership-related factors in enhancing employee innovation at GHI. These findings provide practical implications for improving organizational strategies and nurturing a work environment that supports creativity and innovation through leadership inclusiveness and the internal motivation of employees.

The Covid-19 pandemic has systematically impacted all lines, including the hospitality industry, which experienced the lowest occupancy rate. For this reason, innovation is needed for the hotel industry to develop intellectual capital management and be entrepreneurially oriented so that its business can continue to breathe amid the current global pandemic. This study aims to examine the effect of intellectual capital and entrepreneurial orientation on business performance in hospitality tourism in West Sumatra. The population of this study is all-star and non-star hotels registered with the Central Bureau of Statistics of West Sumatra Province. Our results demonstrate that human and structural capital do not significantly affect business performance. Meanwhile, relational capital and entrepreneurial orientation have a significant effect on the performance of the hotel business. The results of this study contribute to knowledge about the relationship of intellectual capital in the hotel business to improve business performance, especially in the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The gender diversity of the board is essential to reduce the systematic risk of manufacturing companies. To mitigate this risk, manufacturing companies in Indonesia need to pay attention to and strengthen environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. This study aims to empirically examine the influence of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance on systematic risk with gender diversity of the board as moderation in manufacturing companies in Indonesia. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The number of samples in this study is 16 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2019-2023. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS and Gretl programs. The empirical results of this study provide evidence of the negative influence of environmental and governance performance on systematic risk. However, social performance does not have systematic risk. This study succeeded in proving that the gender diversity of the council moderates the relationship between environmental performance, social performance, and governance performance to systematic risk. This research can be a foundation for companies to strengthen and improve the environmental, social, governance (ESG), and gender diversity performance of the board to reduce systematic risks and meet stakeholders' expectations.
