Abstract

Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) are known to contain flavonoids that function as natural antioxidants, playing an important role in preventing the oxidation of body cells and maintaining health. However, the results of observations and interviews show that the people of Baet Village still do not understand the health benefits of moringa leaves and how they are processed into food with nutritional value. This community service activity aims to increase public understanding of the health benefits of moringa leaves and skills in processing them into food, vegetables, and various cakes. Partners in this activity are the Kaju Health Center and the people of Baet Village, with a total of 15 participants. The methods used include counseling on the nutritional content and benefits of moringa leaves, as well as the direct practice of processing moringa leaves into food products such as sponge cakes and puddings. The results of the activities showed success which was marked by the enthusiasm and active participation of the community in the evaluation sessions and processing demonstrations. The community is able to answer evaluative questions well and show skills in processing moringa leaves independently. In addition to increasing knowledge, the community also shows a commitment to implementing the results of counseling in daily life, including in efforts to reduce high blood pressure through the consumption of processed moringa leaves. This activity ran smoothly and had a positive impact on improving nutrition literacy and public health. It is hoped that this activity can be a model of sustainable community empowerment based on local potential.

Abstract

Procrastination is a behaviour of delaying tasks that often occurs among students and has a negative impact on learning achievement. One external factor that can influence this behaviour is social support from peers. This study aims to determine the relationship between peer social support and academic procrastination among students at Krueng Barona Jaya State Senior High School 1. This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The research population consisted of all 141 students in grades X and XI, with a sample of 59 students selected using proportional random sampling. The research instruments used were the Social Support Questionnaire (SSQ) and The Academic Procrastination Scale (APS). This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Krueng Barona Jaya on 6–9 May 2025. The results showed that most students had moderate peer social support, with 24 students (40.7%) in this category and 35 students (59.3%) in the high category. Meanwhile, the level of academic procrastination among students was in the moderate category for 38 students (64.4%) and in the high category for 21 students (35.6%). The results of the Chi-Square test show a significant relationship between peer social support and academic procrastination with a p value of 0.001 (p ≤ 0.05). This means that the higher the social support from peers, the lower the level of academic procrastination among students. This study suggests that students should be more open and seek support from peers who motivate them to study, study together, remind each other, and reduce the habit of procrastinating, so that the learning process can run optimally and academic achievement can be improved.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major factor contributing to high mortality rates and is often identified as the silent killer. Various non-pharmacological interventions have been developed to help lower blood pressure, such as the use of acupressure, herbal remedies, relaxation breathing exercises, meditation, aromatherapy, and reflexology on the soles of the feet. The focus of this study is to examine the effects of reflexology on the soles of the feet on blood pressure dynamics in individuals with hypertension in Gue Gajah Village, Darul Imarah District. The methodology applied was quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design, and the data collection pattern was a single group with pre- and post-treatment measurements (one group pretest-posttest). From a total of 328 hypertensive patients in the area, 15 research participants were purposively selected as samples. The study process took place from May 2 to 28, 2025. The results of the analysis using a paired t-test showed a significant change in blood pressure between before and after the foot reflexology treatment, both in systolic pressure (p-value = 0.000; p < 0.05) and diastolic pressure (p-value = 0.000; p < 0.05). Based on these findings, it can be stated that foot reflexology massage therapy has an effect on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for health workers to expand the use of non-pharmacological interventions in the management of hypertension and open opportunities for further research with larger sample sizes and designs.

Abstract

Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea can cause disruption of daily activities in teenage girls, lessen concentration, and even affect their academic achievement. Lemon aromatherapy is a non-pharmacological method used to reduce dysmenorrhea pain by giving relaxation and analgesic effects with its active compounds, such as limonene and linalool. Based on the data from the World Health Organization (WHO), around 90% of women experience dysmenorrhea, and 10–15% of them suffer from severe dysmenorrhea that requires intervention. This study aims to determine the effect of lemon aromatherapy in reducing the level of dysmenorrhea pain among girls. This study was a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population was all seventh and eighth-grade female students of SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Tiga, Aceh Besar, who experienced dysmenorrhea. A total of 15 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The study was conducted from May 29 to June 21, 2025. The intervention was carried out by giving lemon aromatherapy on the first to third day of menstruation, once a day intake for about 15 minutes. The pain level was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The data were analyzed using the Paired Samples T-Test. The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate pain (93.3%) before receiving the treatment, and a small proportion experienced severe pain (6.7%). After receiving lemon aromatherapy, the pain level decreased to mild pain (46.7%) and moderate pain (53.3%). The mean pain score before intervention was 3.07 and decreased to 2.53 after intervention, with a difference of 0.54. The statistical analysis obtained a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating that there was a significant effect of lemon aromatherapy on reducing dysmenorrhea pain. Thus, based on the findings, this study recommends that teenage girls use lemon aromatherapy as an alternative independent treatment to reduce menstrual pain complaints.
