Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka remaja putri perlu melakukan pemeriksaan kadar Hb secar rutin untuk mencegah anemia secara dini dan mengkonsumsi makanan bergizi yang sangat dibutuhkan pada saat menstruasi.ABSTRACTThe prevalence of anemia in the world is 46% according to WHO and 68% of women based on Riskesdas experience irregular menstruation. Menstrual cycle disorders have an increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Anemia and nutritional status is one of the factors that can affect menstruation. The study was to determine the effect of anemia and Body Mass Index (BMI) on the menstrual cycle of young women. This type of research is observational analytic with a cohort study design. This study uses primary data. Initial data collection included measurements of body weight and height, blood sampling and questionnaires. The determination of anemia was carried out by examining blood samples with Hb Sahli. Determination of the menstrual cycle by filling out a questionnaire about menstruation for 3 months. Data analysis using a computer program with a 95% confidence level. Bivariate analysis using chi square with α 0.05. Multiple logistic regression is used to conduct multivariate analysis. The results showed 15% of female adolescents had anemia, 48.3% of body mass index was abnormal and 46.7% of menstrual cycle was abnormal. There is no influence of anemia and body mass index on menstruation for young women. Based on the results of the study, young women need to check Hb levels regularly to prevent anemia early and consume nutritious foods that are needed during menstruation.

Abstract

Water pollution can become dangerous if consumed. River could be polluted with some materials namely heavy metal of chopper (Cu). Heavy metals that are accidentally consumed by human body through the skin surface, some through the respiratory or digestive tract and then accumulate in the body over time. To make an early detection of heavy metal and water quality in water bodies, some animals or plants were used. Several types of crustaceans such as Artemia salina and Daphnia magna or commonly referred to as bio indicators. This study analyze comparison of acute toxicity test that represented by LC50 value of Cu in Artemia salina and Daphnia magna. From the research result it was found that Artemia salina and Daphnia magna gave a toxic effect with LC50 values of 11.78 ppm and 7.87 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia, characterized by elevated levels of total cholesterol, is a well-established risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, necessitating the exploration of natural interventions to mitigate dyslipidemia and its associated health risks. This study aimed to investigate the potential influence of orange peel extract in water on total cholesterol fluctuations in HFD-induced mice. This study used a true experimental design to investigate the effects of dietary interventions on total cholesterol levels in a female mice model. A total of 18 adult mice were utilized for this research, and they were divided into three distinct groups. The allocation of mice into these groups was as follows: Control Group (n=6): The first group served as the control and received only Aquades (sterile water). High-Fat Diet (HFD) Group (n=6) as named HFD only: The second group consisted of mice that were exclusively fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for a total of 17 days. Orange Peel Extract Group (n=6): The third group, also exposed to the HFD for an initial 10-day period, was subsequently administered orange peel extract for seven days. The total cholesterol levels of the mice that were given orange peel extract decreased from 109 ± 7.43 mg/dL to 96.5 ± 10.07 mg/dL after the intervention. This decrease was statistically significant (p < 0.05). the risk of high total cholesterol levels in mice that were given orange peel extract was 33.3%, compared to 83.3% in mice that were given aquades and 50% in mice that were still on a high-fat diet (HFD). , the results of this study suggest that orange peel extract may offer a natural and accessible approach to address dyslipidemia and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. While further research is needed to confirm these findings and explore their applicability to human health.

Abstract

Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) remains a behaviorally-based health issue prioritized by government interventions, with the principal determinants being a lack of information and education on reproductive health, shifts in adolescent behavior, inadequate health services, and unsupportive regulations. The community service conducted in Tambaksumur Village, Sidoarjo District in 2023, was structured around the integration of the P-Process model and Community Based Research (CBR) aimed at enhancing adolescents' knowledge and attitudes related to ARH, and at formulating approaches for internalizing the functions of health promotion and education within the Karang Taruna organization. The service outcomes indicated that through peer-education activities, there were significant differences in the knowledge and attitudes of the targeted adolescent group before and after the intervention, with 2-tailed significance values of 0.010 (knowledge) and 0.020 (attitude). The sustainability of Karang Taruna's ARH-focused programs can be maintained through the integration of the Adolescent Posyandu program with Karang Taruna, coupled with continuous support and guidance from health academics.
