Abstract

This research purpose to give description about part  of “seloko” contained in the tradition of wedding ceremony Jambi society as a form of preservation of local cultural elements jambi especially for “seloko”.  The tradition of wedding ceremony Jambi society has eleven parts in implementation that is time to  introduction, “tegak batuik  duduk  bertanyo”,  “ulur  antar  serah  terima  adat  dan  lumbago”,  full  custom event, bribery sapat rice, “tunjuk ajar tegur sapo”, notice and pray. The  role  of  seloko  in  part  implementation  tradition   of  wedding  ceremony jambi  society namely as a media to express feel love in stages in the association teens “berusik sirih berguau pinang”, as a partner media choice in mate selection parts, as a communication media in the part of “tegak batuik duduk bertanyo”, “ulur antar pengantin (bride)”,  opening ceremonial lanse, as a media to give advice in part of “tunjuk ajar tegur sapo”, as apologize media, as information media and as media to say pray in part of notice.Keywords: implementation, “seloko”, tradition of wedding ceremony

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) Describe the ability to write news text students are taught using STAD type cooperative learning model and students are taught using direct learning model; (2) Describe the ability to write high-priority student-language text texts that are taught using STAD-type cooperative models and are taught using direct learning models; (3) Describe the ability to write low-priority student-language text texts that are taught using STAD-type cooperative models and are taught using direct learning models, and (4) Describe the interaction of cooperative learning model type STAD and initial ability to the ability to write news text of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 24 Jambi. The type of this research is quantitative with 2x2 factorial experimental designs. The population of the research is the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 24 consisting of 6 classes. The sample of this research is class VIIIA for experiment class with 40 students and class VIIIB for control class with 38 students. Sample determination is determined by purposive sampling technique. The data of students' news text writing capability was obtained using performance test and analyzed using two ways Anova test. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that STAD type cooperative learning model affects the ability to write student news text. The effect can be explained as follows. First, the ability to write news texts of students taught using STAD type cooperative learning model is better than students taught using direct learning model. Second, the ability to write high-priority students' text news taught using STAD type cooperative models is better than students taught using direct learning models. Third, the ability to write low-priority students' text taught using STAD type cooperative models is better than students being taught using direct learning models. Fourth, there is no interaction between STAD type cooperative learning model and initial ability to write news text skills of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 24 Jambi.Keywords: Writing News Texts, Cooperative Learning, Direct Learning

Abstract

This research was motivated by finding moral values in the legend of Bukit Perak by Ricky A. Manik. This study aims to describe the moral values contained in the legend of Bukit Perak by Ricky A. Manik. This research uses a qualitative type of descriptive research. The data of this research is in the form of findings related to 7 aspects of moral values including; care for others, help each other, be deliberative, live in harmony, keeping promises, forgiving, respecting others contained in the legend. The findings are analyzed based on the existing theory in the literature study which the author uses as a theoretical basis in analyzing this research. The qualitative descriptive research is used as a way to descript the moral values contained in this legend. The results of this study can be described by the author that the legend of Bukit Perak by Ricky A. Manik contains moral values from the aspect of moral values including; care for others, help each other, be deliberative, live in harmony, make promises, forgiving, respecting for others. The number of findings used as data in the form of citations about moral values was 83 citations. From the results of the research, it is suggested that the legend of Bukit Perak as a Jambi regional literature with requirements with moral values can be used as a development of learning materials for local content in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the moral value of conveying the life phenomenon of the character Magi Diela in the novel is something amazing to guide the reader's life values. Therefore, the author is interested in analyzing the novel Perempuan yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam Karya Dian Purnomo. Moral values come from conscience, even though it is not written, this norm exists in the human heart, this value distinguishes between right and wrong, guiding daily life according to human nature. The type of research used in this study is descriptive research. The approach used is qualitative. Qualitative is a research approach that the author will use in processing data. Based on the research that has been conducted on the Novel Perempuan yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam Karya Dian Purnomo about the form of moral value of Magi Diela's character, the research results can be obtained as follows: (1). Fairness is obtained as many as 11 quotes, (2) Honesty is obtained as many as 10 quotes, (3). Help each other is obtained as many as 13 quotations, then the total number of quotations obtained is 34 quotations. So it can be concluded that the character of Magi Diela is a figure who can be emulated and inspired to fight for women's right

Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to describe the value of friendship in the novel Anak Semua Bangsa karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This type of research is descriptive research. This descriptive research produces data in the form of qualitations. Descriptive research is a study that can solve data by describing. The data are words, sentences or dialogues and quotations contained in Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s Anak Semua Bangsa, focused on characters’ frienship values in the novel The data analysis activities in this study are carried out with following steps. Analyzing data based on aspects obtained in the word, sentence, or digging of dialogue related to friendship values, describing data, validating data by triangulating data, consulting data analysis to experts wich in this case guided by supervisors, matched with teory, and adapt to research methods and formulate conclusions

Abstract

This research was motivated by the researcher's desire to analyze the representation of aspects of absurdity in drama texts. This research aims to describe the value of character education from the aspects of honesty, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence and responsibility in the context of character education in the novel Ngeri Ngeri Sedap by Bene Dionysius Rajagukguk. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type. Qualitative descriptive research is research intended to investigate circumstances, conditions or other matters, the results of which are presented in the form of a research report in the form of data. The data in this research are in the form of quotations from the novel NGERI NGERI SEDAP by Bene Dionysius Rajagukguk with aspects of absurdity which include; honest, disciplined, hard working, creative, independent and responsible. The results of this research illustrate that there are aspects of character education values in the novel NGERI NGERI SEDAP in the aspects of honesty, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence and responsibility. From these six aspects. The most dominant aspect found was the honest aspect, while the least found aspect was the hard work aspect. Keywords: values, education, characters, novels

Abstract

  This research is motivated by preserving regional culture so that it does not disappear with the times and developing technology. Nowadays, the younger generation no longer recognizes the cultural heritage of the past. Therefore, this research aims to explore and introduce to the younger generation in Tanjung Village, Kumpeh Ilir District, Muaro Jambi Regency, an art of speaking called Senandung Jolo. The research method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The research results show that Senandung Jolo is a pantun that is traditionally played using a simple musical instrument made of Mahang wood, which has been combined with a tambourine, drum, and guitar. From this senandung, character education values ​​about beauty are born and related to human behavior with God, oneself, fellow humans, and the environment. These results indicate that Senandung Jolo has character education values, ​​which can be used to instill character education values ​​in the younger generation and students at all school levels.

Abstract

This research was based on the desire to preserve the art of Kuda Lumping in Tanah Abang Village, Pamenang District, Merangin Regency, which contains rhythmic mantras. The rhythm heard from the mantra can be viewed from the aspect of rhyme in the mantra. This study aims to describe the use of rhyme in the art mantra in Tanah Abang Village. The research method used is a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. This study describes the use of types of rhyme in the mantra. The data for this study are in the form of rhymes found in the kuda lumping art mantras in Tanah Abang Village. The data for this study were obtained from five informants called pawang. The results of this study obtained a description of five types of rhyme in the kuda lumping art mantra in Tanah Abang Village. “Silang” rhymes were found as many as six, “berpeluk” rhymes were found as many as six, rangkai rhymes were found as many as four, ‘kembar” rhymes were found as many as six, and “patah” rhymes were found as many as seven. Of the twenty-nine rhyme findings in this mantra, the most widely used rhyme is “patah” rhyme. Keywords: mantra, rhyme, Kuda Lumping

Abstract

Language plays a crucial role as a medium of communication that enables humans to express ideas, thoughts, and emotions. In spoken communication, utterances are not merely tools for conveying information but also serve as means to influence, persuade, and direct interlocutors toward certain actions. This study aims to analyze the forms and functions of directive speech acts found in Ustaz Hanan Attaki’s sermons on the “Sharing Time” program uploaded to his YouTube channel in September 2024. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data obtained from the transcripts of three sermon videos. Data collection techniques included listening and note-taking, while analysis was carried out through identification, classification, and interpretation based on Searle’s theory of speech acts. The findings reveal five forms of directive speech acts: ordering, commanding, requesting, advising, and recommending. Each form serves specific communicative functions, including instructive, persuasive, educative, and motivational purposes. The study highlights how Ustaz Hanan Attaki’s communication style effectively combines religious preaching with persuasive strategies tailored to resonate with younger audiences. These findings contribute to the field of pragmatics by demonstrating how directive speech acts function within contemporary religious discourse, while also offering practical insights into the role of language in religious communication..

Abstract

This research was motivated by finding moral values in the film Ngeri-ngeri-Sedap by Bene Dion. This research aims to describe the moral values in the film Ngeri-ngeri Sedap by Bene Dion. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method.  Quotation data was analyzed based on theory and was used as a theoretical basis for analyzing this research. This type of descriptive, qualitative research is used as a way to describe the moral values contained in the film Ngeri-ngeri Sedap by Bene Dion. The results of this research can be described that the film Ngeri-ngeri Sedap by Bene Dion contains the moral values of the aspects of caring for others, helping each other, deliberating, forgiving and respecting others. The number of findings used as data in the form of quotes about moral values was 72 quotes. From the results of this research, it can be seen that the film Ngeri-ngeri Sedap by Bene Dion contains moral values that can be used as viewing material for the public and as material for moral education in schools.
