Abstract

Electroplating is a process of settling substances (metal ions) on the electrodes (cathodes) using electrolysis. The occurrence of a precipitate in this process is due to the presence of electrically charged ions moving from an electrode through the electrolyte, the result of the electrolyte will seal on another electrode (cathode). During the process of deposition/deposit takes place a chemical reaction occurs at the electrode and electrolyte both reduction in a certain direction permanently, therefore it requires direct current and a constant voltage. Metal coatings commonly used are copper, nickel, chromium, and others. Electroplating is basically to coat the metal to make it look more attractive and protected from corrosion, and can increase the product's resistance to friction. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of stirrer rpm variations on the thickness and thickness of the A36 steel layer in the decorative nickel-chrome electroplating process. 4 specimens in this study were 30x30x2 (mm). Nickel and chromium coatings have variations in the speed of 72, 102, 132, and 162 (rpm) with a time immersion of 22 minutes and with a temperature of 55-60 ° C. The results of this electroplating process were tested by Vickers's hardness test and observation of microstructure results. The results showed that the faster the rpm, the more hardness was obtained which increased and the thickness of the layer increased. The highest hardness and thickness values are found at a rotational speed of 132 rpm. With a hardness value of 77.5 VHN and a thickness value of 4.55 µm (Nickel) and 13.76 µm (Chrome).

Abstract

Micro Hydro Power (MHP) Plant is a small-scale power plant under 100 kW. Generally, MHP is built in a place that the electricity network has not touched. Many waterfalls in Taji Village are only used as tourist attractions. One of them is Coban Jahe waterfall which has a water discharge of 0.60567 m3/s in the dry season. Waterfall in Coban Jahe was used and planned as Micro Hydro Power Plant, it was called as MHP. Potential electric power generated from the MHP Coban Jahe Waterfall is 14.0368 kW with an effective head of 3.4742 m. The results show from the financial analysis, the construction of MHP is quite feasible with NPV of Rp. 45,676,769, BCR of 1.0852, which means it is feasible to be continued, the Payback Period is 9 years which does not exceed the project life, and the IRR obtained is 10,0087% which the projects are feasible and profitable to build.

Abstract

Mesoscale combustor is one of the components that serves to generate heat on a micro power generator. As one of the components of a micro power generator, meso scale combustor serves to supply heat through the combustion process. The stability of the flame in the combustion chamber meso scale combustor is influenced by the temperature of the combustion chamber. One way to maintain a high temperature in the combustion chamber is to insert a flue gas stainless steel mesh resistor.. This research aims to prove the role of flue gas mesh resistors in stabilizing the flame on the meso scale combustor... The heptane liquid fuel flame was successfully stabilized at an equivalence ratio of ɸ 0.81 – 1.29 and a reactant flow velocity of 26.12 – 36.83 cm/s. The higher the rate of reactant flow, the higher the flame temperature until it reaches 502ºC. Combustor with flue gas mesh resistor is 10 mm away has a flammability limit that is not wider than a combustor without flue gas mesh resistor.

Abstract

The utilization of natural resources as a metal inhibitor is widely researched. The extract of Calliandra leaves is one of the natural resources utilized to prevent the corrosion rate. It contains high tannins, which is a natural compound that can be utilized as an inhibitor of the corrosion rate. The research is aimed to find out the efficiency of Calliandra leaves extract as the natural inhibitor for steel ST-37. The experiment method is applied to vary the extract of Calliandra leaves in the corrosive medium. Meanwhile, the extraction of Calliandra leaves uses the maceration method. The extraction of Calliandra leaves with the solvent uses an evaporation process using a rotary vacuum evaporator. The extract used as the inhibitor is determined in 5%, 10%, and 20% of concentrations. The sample test of corrosion used is steel ST-37 with 4 × 4 cm of dimension and 0.2 cm of thickness. The best inhibition efficiency is 99.73% with an inhibition concentration of 20% in HCl. It shows that the extract of Calliandra leaves works well as an inhibitor, and it is efficient to inhibit the corrosion rate.

Abstract

MSMEs Cassava Chips Maju Jaya in the oil draining process still use conventional methods. This causes the oil cannot be drained optimally with a shelf life of only 1-2 weeks. The implementation of this program aims to disseminate oil draining machine technology. This program is carried out with the stages of partner observation, manufacturing and testing of oil draining machines, and training and mentoring in the use of oil draining machines. The dimensions of the oil draining machine are 600 mm x 430 mm x 560 mm, with a capacity of 10 kg per draining procedure. The motor used is an AC electric motor with a power of HP. The oil drainer's outside and interior bodies are constructed from 304 stainless steel plate and vortexed stainless steel. This helps to make the oil draining procedure easier and quicker. The oil draining process is done by inserting cassava chips into the machine for 15 minutes until the oil content is reduced. From the test, the shelf life of the product is increased to 2 months. This can make a positive contribution to the quality of MSME Maju Jaya products.

Abstract

MSMEs Dedy's Babies Wear, in its production process, still uses conventional sewing machines, and it causes the production of baby hats and shoes to be limited. Within a month, Dedy's Babies Wear MSMEs could only produce 2400 sets of baby hats and shoes with the help of 5 workers. A group of baby hats and shoes sells for IDR 10,000. In addition, the product marketing process is only limited to local coverages. As a result, market demand is unstable every month. This community service program aims to overcome the partners' main problems (the low production capacity and limited marketing process). This program is carried out with the stages of observation, training, and assistance in sewing with overlocking machines, as well as digital product marketing assistance through the e-commerce platform. From the evaluation, the production of MSMEs capacity has doubled. In addition, customer orders through e-commerce have become a potential source of income for partners.

Abstract

Partners in this service are MSME Duck Livestock, located in Junrejo, Batu. This partner currently uses conventional methods in carrying out the process of mixing animal feed. Therefore, the purpose of this service is to introduce and implement mechanization in the animal feed mixing process through the use of animal feed mixing machines. The animal feed mixer machine used has a capacity of 10 kg. The motor power used is 0.25 Horsepower (HP). The dimensions of this machine reach 740mm x 310mm x 550mm. This machine is equipped with four straight mixers used in mixing animal feed. Through the evaluation that has been carried out, the use of this animal feed mixing machine is proven to provide significant benefits. Mixing animal feed ingredients, which previously required quite a long time, has been shortened to only 3 minutes for every 10 kg of feed ingredients. This increase in efficiency is significant for MSME Duck Animal Feed. With the animal feed mixing machine, our partners can increase productivity and efficiency in their business. In addition, this machine also helps improve the consistency and quality of mixing feed, thereby positively impacting the growth and health of the ducks they care for. Overall, using animal feed mixing machines in this service has a significant positive impact on MSMEs of Duck Animal Feed. By increasing the productivity, efficiency, and quality of mixing animal feed, it is hoped that our partners can sustainably develop their businesses and increase their income.
