Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the yield and type of catch, the comparison of the number of catches and the efforts to manage electronic FADs on Gill Net fishing gear. This research was conducted in Bulukumba waters from February to March 2017. Data collection was carried out by direct observation of fishermen in Bulukumba waters. The samples used in this study were FADs installed by fishermen in the waters of Bulukumba as many as 20 locations. Based on the research results, fish catches with electronic FADs ranged from 98 to 131 fish per fishing trip with a total catch of 2,324 fish. Meanwhile, the usual FAD catches ranged from 51 to 84 fish per fishing trip with a total catch of 1,313 fish and the highest type of fish was selar, followed by male mackerel, Selar bentong, white Kuwe, Layang, Barracuda, selangat and Mata goyang. The ratio between the catch and the use of electronic FADs was 64%, while the regular FADs were 36%. Considering that FADs are an effective tool in collecting fish, a sustainable management strategy is needed, including by (1) community based management, (2) limiting fishing efforts, (3) stopping the addition of shallow marine FADs. , (4) use of fishing gear with large mesh sizes and (5) prioritize the use of deep sea FADs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the current conditions, examine the utilization of facilities and infrastructure for the Lero Fish Landing Base (PPI) and its development; and formulate a management strategy. This research was carried out from March to June 2021 at the Lero Fish Landing Base (PPI). The research method is observation and interview. Determination of the sample by purposive sampling, the number of respondents 48 people. Data were analyzed descriptively, using utilization rate analysis and SWOT analysis. The results of the study show: 1) The current condition of PPI Lero's facilities and infrastructure is in poor to very good condition, it is necessary to manage its utilization and develop human resources; 2) Utilization of facilities and infrastructure of PPI Lero obtained a percentage of <100% or has not reached optimal, it is necessary to build a breakwater and SPDN; 3) PPI Lero by utilizing existing strengths to seize opportunities as much as possible so that it can establish cooperation between the Government and private companies in its management so as to improve the welfare of the community.

Abstract

Grouper fishing (Plectropomus leopardus) has increased resource exploitation, this effort has an impact on the sustainability of sunu grouper resources in Spermonde waters. The purpose of this study is the fishing aspect (time of the fishing season, parameters of oceanography physics of waters and sunu grouper fishing areas). This research uses case and field study methods. The results of the study show that 1) the fishing season shows that the variation of seasons, especially the famine season, will provide opportunities for sunu grouper fish to increase recruitment and restore grouper their population. 2) Aquatic oceanographic parameters affect the production and productivity of fishermen's catches. 3) Sunu grouper fishing areas are sufficiently available for fishermen fishing based on environmental factors in Spermonde waters.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of significant sea waves and seasonal wind in the west season, west to east transition season, east season and east to west transition season and determine the sailing safety matrix of fishing vessels against high waves in the Makassar Strait Waters. The method in this study is the Observation Method by conducting interviews with the help of questionnaires with 30 fishermen respondents who own boats at the Untia Fisheries Port which are samples. The results obtained during the west season significant wave height in Makassar Strait Waters ranged from 0.5 - 1.0 meters, and the wind blew from the southwest to the northwest at a speed of 2 - 15 knots, during the west to east transition season significant wave height in Makassar Strait Waters ranged from 0.5 - 1.0 meters, and the wind blew from the northeast to southeast at a speed of 8 - 15 knots, during the east season significant wave heights in Makassar Strait Waters range from 0.75 - 1.5 meters, and the wind blows from the east to the southeast at a speed of 10 - 20 knots while during the east to west transition season significant wave heights in Makassar Strait Waters range from 0.75 - 1.25 meters, and the wind blows from the east to the southeast at a speed of 8 - 15 knots. Based on the results of processed wave data and wind patterns, the safety matrix for sailing fishing vessels is obtained, for small vessels 1 - 10 GT is safe to sail on low category waves, medium size vessels 11 - 20 GT is safe to sail on medium category waves and for large size vessels 21 - 30 GT is still safe to sail on high category waves.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the size distribution of crabs caught, determine the proportion of swimming crabs that are suitable for catching and analyze the selectivity of gillnet and dragon trap fishing gear. This research will be carried out from May - December 2023 in the Bawasalo area, Segeri District, Pangkep Regency The parameters calculated for determining size distribution use a distribution table based on Sturgess, the proportion of size suitable for catching using the Odum rule and the selectivity of gill net crab and dragon fish traps using the Sparre and Venema rule. The research results showed that (1) the size structure of crab carapace caught with gillnet fishing gear was dominant in the range of 10.1-11.0 cm with a frequency of 202 individuals, then the size structure of crab carapace caught with gillnet fishing gear was dominant in the range of 9.1 -10.0 cm with a frequency of 278 individuals, while the carapace size structure of male crabs is dominant in the range of 9.1-10.0 cm with a frequency of 289 individuals and the carapace size structure of female crabs is dominant at 10.1-11.0 cm with a frequency of 184 fish, (2) The value of allowable catch size (ACS) of crabs caughtb by gillnets is 66.9% and those not allowable catch size (nACS) is 33.1% 920 while the ACS size value of crabs caught by fish traps is 39.6% and the BLT size is 60.4%. The LT size value of male crab is 50.5% and the nACS is 39.5% and the ACS size value of female crab is 56.8$ and the nACS is 43.2% (3, Fishing gear gillnet has a higher selectivity value compared to dragon traps.
