Abstract

This study is aimed to investigate the English learning activities at Nurul Hidayah boarding school in developing students’ speaking performance with their strengths and weaknesses. This research is descriptive qualitative research with triangulation analysis. Methods for obtaining data were carried out through interviews and documentation. English learning activities at Nurul Hidayah Islamic Boarding School are divided into two; activities in the classroom and outside of the classroom. The classroom activities refer to KMI Gontor. The activities outside of the classroom are Daily Conversations, English Video Screenings, English Speech Exercises, and English Contest and Games. The advantages of the activities are that the boarding school already has a good and effective English learning system and method in training the students' English language skills. The student's awareness and interest in speaking English have grown. The language environment has developed. Meanwhile, its weaknesses are that the number of personnel of the language driving organization is still inadequate compared to the total number of whole students. Most of the teachers do not consistent in using English. Outside of classroom activities programs are so limited. Most of the students are tend to use Arabic than English. Most of the students are still facing some difficulties in memorizing vocabulary and in pronouncing English words. The correction systems toward the language mistakes are still low.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development of the Naqshabandiyah Tarekat and its influence on the socio-cultural life of the Sakai people in Bengkalis Regency. The findings of this study are that the Naqshabandiyah Tarekat entered and developed among the Sakai Tribe in a number of different regions, but not at the same time with different carrier figures. If mapped, there are three main lines (networks), namely the first line of the Ibrahim Caliph in 1912 at Bomban Potani in the area of Bathin Solapan. Second, the path of Sheikh Imam Sabar Al-Kholidi in 1925 in Beringin Village, Talang Muandau area. Third, Caliph Mahmud in 1947 in Tasik Serai. The presence of the Naqsyabandiyah Tarekat in the onder region of the Mandau district can be well accepted by the Sakai Tribe. This is evidenced by the existence of approximately 11 suluk houses in the Sakai Tribe domicile today. The teachings of the Naqshabandiyah Tarekat greatly influenced the socio-cultural life of the Sakai Tribe. Most of them have abandoned the bad habits that have been practiced and become devout Muslims. Islamic values are very thick coloring their social system both concerning the system of marriage and family life, social relations, political and government leadership, customs and traditions, and the economy.

Abstract

Kebudayaan Melayu Islam terbentuk hasil dari proses akulturasi antara nilai-nilai Islam yang bersifat transenden dan nilai-nilai budaya Melayu yang bersifat lokalistik yang melahirkan satu bentuk kebudayaan dimana Islam menjadi inti budayanya. Ajaran Islam yang mengkonstruksi kebudayaan Melayu tersebut beraliran sufistik. Karena itu ajaran-ajaran sufistik didapati sangat berpengaruh besar dalam membangun sikap dan pandangan hidup orang-orang Melayu. Sikap dan pandangan hidup itu menjadi prinsip yang dipegang teguh secara turun-temurun dalam membangun hubungan sosial kemasyarakatan. Prinsip-prinsip tersebut bisa ditemukan dalam produk-produk kesusastraan melayu klasik, seperti syair, pantun, syair, gurindam dan tunjuk ajar melayu yang materinya kental akan nuansa-nuansa sufistik. Gagasan-gagasan sufistik dituangkan dalam bahasa-bahasa puitis dan artistik dan disajikan dalam redaksi-redaksi kalimat yang indah dan menarik. Ini merupakan suatu kreatifitas yang amat tinggi dimana orang-orang melayu mampu mentransfer ajaran-ajaran tasawuf dalam medium kesenian mereka.

Abstract

This article seeks to explore a model of learning having pluralistic paradigm, that is a learning which is based on the basic principle that acknowledges and accepts the religious and cultural differences  as the consequence from the plural society. This model of learning aims at creating attitude and life consciousness among Muslim students in order to respect  other religions as the implementation of religious tolerance.  It is related to respecting the plurality of religions, cultures, races and social and economic groups in the society, showing the love and sincerity among human beings and environment as God’s creation and respecting the differences of idea in practicing religious rituals.

Abstract

This article tries to discribe about paths to optimize the teachers’ role of Islamic education in building students’ character to response moral crises happened recently among students and graduated. These paths must be conducted by goverment, educational institution and teachers as well. The goverment should make a specific political policy to strengthen Islamic education process at school or out of school in regard to curriculum changes, supporting learning sources and providing facilities and up grading teacher capacity and competency. The educational institution must attempt to make Islamic Education as a core of educational development at school by constructing sociocultural conditions based on Islamic Values. And Teachers themselves must be qualified in their position as professional teachers. They must always develope innovative learning models and have full responsibility with their duties. They also must play their role as a conselor to give intensive guidances to their students specially students who have many dificulties both in academic problems and non academic. Finally, teachers must be commited with their ethic codes so that they become a good model for their students.

Abstract

Kajian ini dilatarbelakangi dari satu kondisi Mualaf di Rumah Saudara Baru Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) di Desa Jangkang Kecamatan Bantan yang kurang di perhatikan secara maksimal. Kenyataannya Mualaf sangat memerlukan pembinaan spiritual dan mentalitas ketauhidan agama Islam. Kondisi ini menyebabkan banyak diantara Mualaf jarang mengikuti pembinaan yang telah  dan adanya pengelolaan sarana dakwah dan pendidikan belum menunjukan proses seharusnya. Penulis ingin mendapatkan data bagaimana strategi dakwah digunakan dalam pembinaan Mualaf, faktor-faktor yang menjadi pendukung dan penghambat proses pembinaan, serta sejauh mana hasil pembinaan yang dilaksanakan para da’i/da’iyah (guru) terhadap mualaf Rumah Saudara Baru Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) di Desa Jangkang Kecamatan Bantan. Untuk menjelaskan kajian kulitatif deskriftif yang penulis lakukan, maka langkah-langkah untuk mendapatkan data tersebut penulis menggunakan obsevasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi sebagai metode dalam pengumpulan data. Hasilnya strategi yang digunakan dalam pembinaan menggunakan dakwah formal dan non-formal serta pendekatan individual. Sedangkan sarana yang mendukung ada juga mualaf yang enggan belajar  disebabkan jarak tempuh yang jauh dan kondisi ekonomi. Disamping itu, pembinaan belum terlaksana, hal ini juga ditunjukan dengan belum minimnya strategi yang digunakan sebagaimana diharapkan.Kata Kunci: Dakwah Dan DMDI

Abstract

AbstrakTulisan ini mencoba menjelaskan tentang sejarah kebudayaan Melayu yang tidak bisa dilepaskan dari pengaruh ajaran Islam di dalamnya. Kenyataan menunjukkan bahwa ajaran-ajaran Islam menjadi sistem nilai utama yang membentuk kebudayaan Melayu. Proses terbentuknya kebudayaan Melayu Islam tersebut melalui proses dialektika sejarah yang panjang sejak berlangsungnya Islamisasi di kawasan Melayu. Islamisasi di kawasan Melayu mengambil bentuk yang memadukan antara nilai-nilai Islam yang transenden dan nilai-nilai lokal yang berkembang pada masyarakat tempatan sehingga melahirkan satu corak kebudayaan baru yang bisa diterima secara luas sampai hari ini. Satu hal yang perlu dicatat bahwa proses akulturasi antara Islam dan budaya lokal itu terjadi karena Islam yang datang di kawasan Melayu pada waktu itu adalah Islam yang bercorak sufistik. Sejarah awal proses Islamisasi di nusantara menunjukan bahwa sebagian besar para pendakwah yang menyebarkan Islam di kawasan ini adalah para ulama yang menganut faham tasawuf. Tulisan ini menggambarkan bagaimana pengaruh ajaran-ajaran sufistik terhadap budaya Melayu sebagaimana tercermin dalam pandangan hidup orang-orang Melayu yang menjadi pegangan mereka dalam menjalani kehidupan sehari-hari. Pandangan hidup tersebut bila dielaborasi lebih jauh kaya akan gagasan-gagasan sufistik. Yang paling menarik gagasan-gagasan sufistik tersebut di dunia Melayu dituangkan dalam bahasa-bahasa puitis dan artistik dan disajikan dalam redaksi-redaksi kalimat yang indah dan menarik. Ini menggambarkan suatu kreatifitas yang amat tinggi dimana orang-orang melayu mampu mentransfer ajaran-ajaran tasawuf dalam medium kesenian mereka.Malay cultural history can not be separated from the influence of Islam. The fact shows that the teachings of Islam become system of core values that form the Malay culture. The processes of the Islamic Malay culture formation constructed through along historical dialectic processsince the on going Islamizationin Malay region. Islamizationin Malay region takes a form that combines transcendent Islamic values and local values that developin the local community produceed a new cultural pattern that can be widely accepted until today. One thing tobe noted that the process of acculturation between Islam and local culture happened because Islam came in the Malay regionat the time was patterned with Sufism. The early history ofthe process of Islamization of the archipelago shows that most of the preachers who spread Islamin this region are the scholars who embrace the ideology of Sufism. This writing illustrate show the influence of Sufi teachings toward the Malay cultureas reflected in the view of life of Malay people which become their guidance in living every day life. And when the live view iselaborated further the Sufiideas will be richer. The most interesting part is that the Sufiideasin Malay world poured in poetic languages and artistic which is presented in wonderful and attractive phrases. This represents a very high creativity where Malay people are capable of transferring the teachings of Sufismin the medium of their art.
