Abstract

This study figures out the historical journey of the Indonesian nation which is full of its own dynamics is marked by the prominent role of Moslem figures in fighting for and maintaining national unity. The socio-cultural diversity is vital capital as well as a big challenge for Indonesia in building a nation-state. For more than seventy years this pluralistic society has been united by one state ideology, namely "Pancasila" which is expressly stated in the constitution. Optimism was reflected in the economic progress achieved in the mid-1990s, but after the 1997-1998 economic crisis which was followed by a multidimensional crisis, social integration experienced major problems. This article explains the role of the Moslem community in establishing the Indonesian nation, seizing, and maintaining independence, as well as the potential threats to national integration. This article emphasizes again that the long journey of the Indonesian nation and the role of the Islamic community in its long history is an important capital that should not be forgotten in efforts to increase Indonesia's glory for the future. From independence until two-thirds of the century of it, the representation of Islamic groups is very calculated in managing government, however, in elections, they only have a significant enough vote but have never won. With a historical approach through a literature review, the author argues that there are many things that need to be done by the Indonesian people, especially the Moslem community to build Indonesia as a strong nation-state.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's policy to encourage the involvement of private companies to contribute to renewable energy (RE) projects affects the lives of the local community in the surrounding areas. However, the local community's role in the RE project implementation must be clarified. The study identifies a possible role for the local community to participate in the RE project. It examines the barriers to its participation under the lens of public-private-people partnership. The study was conducted in a mini hydro power plant project in Indonesia. Eight representatives from the village government, community members, and company management were interviewed. The data were analyzed and presented in a descriptive-qualitative manner. The study found that local community participation is needed to manage water as a natural resource for mini hydro power plants. Still, the need for explicit agreement on responsibility and benefit-sharing between the local community, village government, and private companies becomes the barrier to community participation. The findings emphasize the need for formal partnership to specify how local government, private businesses, and communities supposedly develop renewable energy as the basis to involve stakeholders at the local level.

Abstract

This article describes the relationship between natural disasters and community negligence by referring to Jens Beckert's institutional theory (2010). This sociological study has relevance for the general public as well as government agencies. More than two thousand natural disasters occur in Indonesia every year, resulting in more than 10,000 deaths. In some cases, natural disasters are difficult to anticipate by science. However natural disasters caused by human negligence are also not insignificant, such as floods, fires and landslides. In this study, we discuss the community negligence factors that contribute to natural disasters. The study was conducted using the survey method via Google Form to a number of respondents spread across the Jabodetabek area. It also processed secondary data from a number of reports on natural disasters on various social media and digital media. Furthermore, this study shows that a number of disasters caused by human negligence are quite frequent. The facts show that Indonesian people quite often act rashly and without thinking about the long-term impact that their actions will bring. Based on secondary data, this article selects several cases of human negligence that have the potential to cause disaster.

Abstract

The research examined the possibility of food being socialized as local food to replace local food’s role in food tourism. Food was one of the major attractions during a vacancy in ASEAN. The study of food in tourism rarely considered local food diversity in urban areas. The research addressed the other type of local food that is typical city food. In this case, there is no connection between the food and culture, traditions, history, or place, but the food is socialized as being indigenous. The local food consumption model was used to test whether the factors that affect tourists' local food consumption apply equally to foods socialized as local food. The research compared domestic tourist local food consumption factors in two food categories. 640 domestic tourists in a developed culinary tourism city in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area participated in this online survey. The comparative test of tourist characteristics found gender, the purpose of visit, age, and status of visit tourist characteristics associated with the food choice. The physical environment, exiting experience, and authentic experience were the motivational factors that differed between two food categories. It is possible that socialized foods will replace local food. The food locality did not always a matter. The results provide an overview of the position of local food in urban tourism. This has been considered the main attraction of food tourism in ASEAN countries.

Abstract

Organizational performance has always been viewed based on physical capital, such as money or assets. This is certainly not adequate because it ignores other aspects, such as intelligence, cooperation, trust, and so forth. POPIS (physical capital, organizational capital, political capital, intellectual capital, sociocultural capital) conception offers a more comprehensive perspective on the various capital that affect organizational performance. But, in fact, among the various capital, there are some capital that is more dominant than the other capital-capital. SBW and KGJ cooperative performance clearly demonstrate the dominant role of socio-cultural capital in influencing the success of those two institutions.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the symbolic value in influencing the business of buying imitation Louis Vuitton bags which is seen using Beckert's (2009) four market valuation criteria. Based on a survey conducted by the Indonesian Anti-Counterfeiting Society (MIAP), economic losses due to imitation goods in Indonesia continue to increase every year until reaching a peak in 2014 of 65.1 billion rupiah, in 2020 it was recorded at 291 trillion, with a tax loss of 967 billion rupiah and employment of more than 2 million. Control over counterfeit goods is getting stricter. As explained by Cicilia King, Communications Manager for Louis Vuitton (Indonesia), especially in Europe, the company provides education, including to officers at airports, so that they are able to identify whether an item is genuine or fake. Louis Vuitton, according to various records, is the most counterfeited famous brand ( Kompas.com ). Young consumers are increasingly buying imitation products from luxury brands. Because late childhood is a time of searching for identity and a time of change (Asyia et al., 2022; Sofianita, 2015). This research uses Beckert's theory in the article The social order of markets (2009). Researchers used a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. The findings in this research explain that market valuation criteria consisting of standardization, cognitive anchoring, normative legitimacy, and social positioning are explained in this case study. Volatility, uncertainty, problems of complexity and ambiguity of the choices are conditions that have been described by the VUCA concept. Covid-19, which has infected more than one million people in the country, has caused a lot of excitement in various domains: economic, political, social, cultural, and various other aspects of life. By conducting a literature review from March 2020 to January 2021 and analyzing secondary data from Twitter and distributing short questionnaires through Google Form on August 2020, as 969 respondents in Java, Bali, Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara dan Papua Islands the authors found that the VUCA era facilitates various complexities in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. The clumsy policies create uncertainty way in the process of social transformation towards society who cares about health protocols. Some of the solutions offered by Bennet and Lemoine (2014) or Aura Codreanu (2016) are still insufficient to manage the changes that occur towards a better life. Abstract

This study analyzes the transformation of science communication conducted by media startups in the VUCA era in Indonesia. In the information age, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, people are increasingly dependent on educational needs. Nevertheless, there are challenges of information explosion that are too dynamic and less effective. As a result, media startups have implemented science communication innovations to open public access to science. Previous studies have acknowledged science communication models using visual literacy approaches and using narrative explanations. Therefore, the model faces significant challenges such as information uncertainty, establishing a science communication ecosystem, and ambiguity due to cultural change. Employing qualitative content analysis methods, this article found that media startups face the biggest challenges in developing science communication. On the other hand, the VUCA era can be a driving tool for media startups to conduct adaptive social transformation in the field of science communication.
