Abstract

As the implementation of digital financial systems in schools becomes increasingly widespread, understanding the various factors that can enhance the effectiveness of financial management becomes highly crucial. This study aims to examine the effect of financial literacy on the effectiveness of school financial management, with the implementation of FinTech serving as an mediating variable. The study employed a census design involving all 117 public vocational high school principals in West Sumatra Province (100% response rate). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of 18 items measured on a five point Likert scale assessing financial literacy, FinTech adoption, and financial management effectiveness. The hypotheses were tested using PLS-SEM with the support of SmartPLS 4.0 software. Financial literacy significantly influences the effectiveness of school financial management (β = 0.581, p < 0.000) and also has a significant indirect effect through FinTech adoption (β = 0.195, p < 0.000), indicating partial mediation. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing FinTech and adopting FinTech to sustainably improve the effectiveness of financial management. The findings demonstrate that FinTech adoption partially mediates the relationship between financial literacy and financial management effectiveness, highlighting the strategic role of digital financial integration in strengthening school governance.

Abstract

Teacher work motivation is an important factor in supporting the implementation of professional duties and improving the quality of learning in schools. However, several conditions are still found that indicate that teacher work motivation is not fully optimal, especially in the aspects of perseverance, self-development, and the drive to continuously improve the quality of work. This study aims to describe the work motivation of teachers in State Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Padang City based on indicators of responsibility, perseverance, self-development, and a high level of aspirations (the desire to achieve). The study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The study population was 987 teachers, while a sample of 207 teachers was determined using a multistage stratified random sampling technique consisting of cluster sampling and proportional random sampling. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire that had met validity and reliability tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics with an average value (mean). The results showed that teacher work motivation was in the high category with an overall average score of 4.38. The responsibility indicator obtained an average score of 4.40, perseverance 4.36, self-development 4.38, and a high level of aspirations 4.41. These findings indicate that teachers exhibit professional commitment, responsibility, a passion for developing competencies, and a strong desire to achieve. However, the aspect of perseverance still requires greater attention to ensure teachers are more consistent in facing challenges and completing tasks optimally. The implications of this research are expected to serve as a consideration for schools and policymakers in designing programs to continuously improve teacher work motivation, particularly through professional development, strengthening work culture, and providing support that encourages optimal performance.

Abstract

This descriptive quantitative research investigated students' perceptions of the management of Scout extracurricular activities at public junior high schools in Guguak Panjang District, Bukittinggi City. The study was conducted in response to indications that several management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation, had not yet been fully optimized. The objective was to describe students' perceptions of Scout extracurricular management based on these four management dimensions. The study involved 102 respondents selected from a population of 2,684 seventh- and eighth-grade students using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through a five-point Likert questionnaire that had satisfied validity and reliability requirements. Descriptive statistical analysis using the mean score was employed to interpret the data. The findings revealed that students perceived the management of Scout extracurricular activities as good. The mean scores for planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation were 4.02, 4.13, 4.07, and 4.18, respectively, with an overall mean of 4.12. These findings indicate that the management of Scout extracurricular activities has generally been implemented effectively. Nevertheless, improvements are still required in the planning aspect, particularly in scheduling activities that better accommodate students' academic responsibilities and participation.
