Abstract

Petanque is a relatively new sport in Jember Regency. It is very suitable to be developed in schools because it can be played on the ground, grass or sand measuring 3 x 12 m or 4 m x 15 m. Opportunities for achievement are wide open, both as coaches and athletes because they are relatively new in Jember Regency. In order to spread the petanque sport, training is needed as an introduction to this sport from France. Sports and Health Physical Education Teachers (PJOK) can be pioneers in developing Petanque in schools. PJOK teachers at the Muhammadiyah Senior High School/Vocational/Madrasah Aliyah (SMA/K/MA) in Jember have never known Petanque. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a coaching clinic. The objectives of this service are, 1) Increasing basic technical knowledge and regulations for the Petanque sport 2) Increasing basic technical skills and training for the Petanque sport. The implementation method is divided into three stages, namely, preparation, implementation and monitoring and evaluation. The preparatory phase includes situation analysis, dialogue with partners, and cooperation agreements. Implementation of the coaching clinic program by presenting theoretical material in class, demonstrations and practice. Monitoring and evaluation is carried out after the training is carried out to find out whether the results of the training are implemented in each school. The dedication carried out by the team resulted in 1) increasing knowledge of the basic techniques of Petanque, 2) Forming a Whatsapp group for PJOK SMA/K Muhammadiyah teachers throughout Jember; 3) Proposal to issue a letter of recommendation by the Head of Elementary and Middle Education (Dikdasmen) Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) Jember to school principals containing an appeal to organize the Petanque extracurricular at Muhammadiyah SMA/K/MA schools in Jember.

Abstract

Sprint speed in the 100-meter event is an important component of physical education; however, students often show inconsistent performance due to limited specific training. This study aimed to determine the effect of shuttle run training on students’ sprint speed. An experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design was used involving 32 students of class X.8 at SMAN 1 Arjasa. Data were collected using a 100-meter sprint test and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement, with the average time decreasing from 15.58 seconds to 14.73 seconds (p < 0.05). The results of the analysis showed an increase in 100-metre sprint running speed after the shuttle run training. The average time decreased from 15.58 seconds in the pretest to 14.73 seconds in the posttest. The paired sample t-test showed a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the results before and after treatment. Shuttle run training has been proven effective in improving students' 100-metre sprint speed. The application of this training can be a practical and efficient alternative in physical education in secondary schools. It can be concluded that shuttle run training is effective in improving students’ sprint speed and can be applied as a practical training method in physical education

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of plyometric training and sprinting drills on 60-meter sprint speed among elementary school students at SDN Jenggawah 04. The research employed a quantitative experimental method using a pretest–posttest design. A total of 20 students were selected from a population of 30 students and divided into two groups: an experimental group that received plyometric training combined with sprinting drills, and a control group that followed regular training. Sprint speed was measured using a 60-meter sprint test, while lower limb explosive power was assessed through a vertical jump test. The training program was conducted for four weeks with a frequency of three sessions per week. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in sprint performance, with the average running time decreasing from 11.46 seconds to 9.75 seconds (an improvement of approximately 14.92%), whereas the control group showed only a slight improvement. Conclusion, these findings indicate that plyometric training combined with sprinting drills is effective in improving sprint speed and can be recommended as an alternative training program for enhancing sprint performance in elementary school students. Abstract

Learning basketball in high school requires an innovative approach so that students can understand the concepts of techniques, tactics, and rules of the game effectively. One of the approaches that is developing is the use of audio-visual media in the learning process of physical education. This study aims to systematically examine the audio-visual-based basketball learning model applied in high school through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The method used refers to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The article search process was carried out using the Publish or Perish application with the Google Scholar database in the range of 2020–2025. Of the 200 articles identified, only 6 met the inclusion criteria and were worth analysis. The results of the study show that the use of audio-visual media in basketball learning can improve understanding of basic techniques, learning motivation, student involvement, as well as psychomotor and cognitive learning outcomes. These findings confirm that the integration of audio-visual media is a relevant and effective learning strategy to improve the quality of basketball learning in high school.

Abstract

Sports injuries are a major obstacle for the development of youth football players. Limited knowledge of parents in initial injury management can worsen the athlete’s condition and delay recovery. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of parents, coaches, and young players of the Putra Balung Jaya Football School in Jember regarding sports injury management. The activities consisted of three phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation, using lectures, interactive discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice of the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) technique. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, with an average post-test score increasing by 38% compared to the pre-test, and 75% of participants successfully performing injury management techniques. This program is expected to be implemented sustainably as a preventive and promotive measure in youth football development.
