Abstract

In the activity of the modern economy, the availability of money as a means of transaction is very important, because with the money as a means to pay consumers can easily to get the basic material needs are required, the manufacturer can provide the raw materials of labor for production, and distributors can obtain a variety of merchandise to be delivered at the end consumer. The pattern of use of money is influenced by the attitude of the public in the transaction. Researchers assume, that there are differences among communities, either by group differences in income, educational differences, ethnic differences, differences in profession, and perhaps even religious differences embraced. So as to provide information to the monetary authorities, to enrich the theory of demand for money based economic agents in Indonesia, and for the application of the theory of demand for money, the researchers felt the need to study patterns of use of money. Qualitative research, in addition to knowing whether the variables that affect the demand for money as the above theory is still relevant for economic actors in Indonesia at this time, or even are new variables, as well as the motive of money demand.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to test the trilemma and the quadrilemma monetary policy using Indonesia data with covering years 1983 – 2017. The research suggest that the monetary independence and capital account openness might have been more passionately pursued by Bank Indonesia for testing the trilemma; while testing of the quadrilemma, the concentration seems to have shifted to take a middle position within each policy objectives. In this study, the full sample period is split in three subsamples: 1983-2017, 1983 – 1999 and 2000 – 2017. The methodology used in this research is ordinary least square. Our findings show that the policy might have shifted from exchange rate stability, capital account openness and foreign reserves in the first subsample to other four policy objectives in the second subsample. It indicates that foreign reserve plays as fourth objective leading the central bank to achieve at the same time the three “impossible” goals. Therefore, taking into account foreign reserve as a monetary policy objective is deserved. Adequacy of reserves could higher our capacity to prevent or mitigate external shocks.

Abstract

Indonesia, which is dominated by poor communities, has also been seriously affected not only in the health aspect but also on job losses due to this pandemic. It is hoped that PKH beneficiaries will be able to survive these difficult times. Through the power of housewives who are considered to be able to help the family economy, online business is a new trend today. Therefore, the Sriwijaya University community service activity team provided training related to how to manage an online business. This activity was carried out on November 9, 2020 offline while adhering to health protocols. This training was attended by 40 PKH beneficiaries in Ilir Barat II District, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province. The methods used are presentation, tutoria and discussion. The results showed that 80 percent of participants understood the importance of online promotion through social media. The understanding related to the benefits of social media, types of social media, and downloading applications is quite good where the percentage obtained is above 70 percent. However, understanding regarding the use of Instagram is still lacking where the results only reach 65%. In this case, the government can provide special assistance to women in developing online-based businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether risk tolerance can moderate the relationship between financial literacy on Internet banking behavior during Covid-19. 133 respondents are chosen as the sample of this study through purposive sampling with criteria. The hypothesis testing of this research was carried out using two models, namely, the direct relationship model and the moderation model. The results show that financial literacy has a positive effect on Internet banking. However, risk tolerance is unable to be a moderating variable. The results give the implication that Internet banking users can be increased by improving financial literacy, and financial risk may not be a significant driver in the use of internet banking during Covid-19.

Abstract

The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic phenomenon at the end of 2019 caused non-cash transactions to increase, but several macro variables decreased. The study investigates the relationship between Non-Cash Transactions (through APMK and E-money proxies), National Income (GDP), Money Supply (M0), and Velocity of Money with the Vector Auto Regression method. The data was used from 2010 to 2021 at three different times, before Covid-19 and during Covid-19. Our result confirms that there was a relationship between money supply and non-cash transactions, the positive response occurred in all periods, and the negative response occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic. National income positively impacts money supply and velocity of money during all periods and Covid-19. It implicates that electronic money should be increased because it accelerates the circulation of money and can increase the flow of goods and services. How to Cite:Ferlicia, S., Suhel, S., & Andaiyani, S, (2022).
