Abstract

The most important component of a language is the functional component, namely meaning creation. Advertisement is a product of marketing process where its process of communication is built interestingly and therefore it is also very interesting to observe the use of language in it. This study focuses on identifying gender ideology and image construction in printed advertisement. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result shows that every text has a character and its own way in delivering the image of gender, and based on the text analysis, two categories of ideology which core the image of gender are finally revealed; they are sexist and women and men degrees.

Abstract

To achieve better knowledge, students are expected to be able to read some books in a week. But nowadays, reading no longer becomes student’s habit. It seems because teachers teaching method is still need to be modified in order to get students attention and interest. This research aims to find out the methods used by the teacher in teaching reading and student response on the method. The research adopted descriptive-qualitative research method and in collecting the data observation and interview were used as the instruments of the research. After doing the research, the data found that there are two kinds of method are used by the teacher while he/she teaches reading classroom, namely; direct method and language experience approach (LEA). Meanwhile, the student response toward teacher reading method shown that most of students like teachers reading method, only few students dislike about teachers teaching methods.

Abstract

Mastery over words helps leaner English to communicate their emotions and purpose more effectively. Grammatical ability is how English leaner understanding grammar lesson. It also can identify the adjective is one of the must have capabilities by students. In this research, the researcher used worksheet to find out students’ ability in identifying adjectives Qur’an surah Luqman verse 13 until 19. This research was conducted at Islamic Education Faculty of Ibn Khaldun University, Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidiyah (PGMI) Department. Qualitative research method used in this study. The result of this research shows that the ability of students can be concluded that students’ ability to identify adjectives is still medium. From the nine adjectives found in surah Luqman English translation verse 13 until 19, the highest number is six. The students of PGMI can learn English by using Qur’anic verses about education that has been translated in English, this also the same with all surah in the noble Al- Quran. So that it is recommended to use any part of the noble Qur’an as teaching media specially reading and structure. Using English translation of noble Qur’an will make students add vocabulary and learn more about language.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all countries, including Indonesia, which has restricted all outside activities. It is also prominent in the field of education, where blended learning is used in the learning process, resulting in a variety of views for students. The researcher wanted to know the students’ point of view of this method. The aims of the research are to describe students' perspectives on the use of blended learning in learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Blended learning is a combination of face-to-face and online instruction. This study used a qualitative research design, with questionnaires and interviews as data collection. The participants of the study were 14 second-year university students who used blended learning activities. The results of the study show the effectiveness, benefits, constraints, and effects of blended learning on students' perspectives during COVID-19.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores teachers’ perceptions of Project-Based Learning in English language teaching to promote Higher-Order Thinking Skills. Using a qualitative case study design, the research involved three junior high school teachers in Bogor Regency, selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected via open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Findings showed that teachers viewed project-based learning as a student-centered approach emphasizing real-world relevance, collaboration, product creation, and contextual learning. Implementation included planning, scaffolding, group work, facilitation, and feedback. Teachers reported that project-based learning fostered higher-order thinking skills by encouraging critical analysis, creativity, and reflection, although challenges such as time constraints and diverse student abilities remained. The study underscores the need for teacher readiness, resources, and contextualized instruction to optimize project-based learning in promoting higher-order thinking skills.
