Abstract

In learning English, students must be equipped with knowledge of good and correct pronunciation so that they can be a support for students in English pronunciation. One application that can be used to practice pronunciation by Artificial Intelligence is ELSA Speak. In ELSA Speak, students can learn the correct pronunciation generated from native speakers, and can practice their pronunciation and get digital feedback from ELSA Speak, and correct their pronunciation. Two main discussions were the implementation of digital feedback on Elsa Speak for students and the benefits of digital feedback on ELSA Speak in learning English. This research uses qualitative case studies, in which observation and semi-structured interviews were used as instruments in collecting the data. The result of the research shown that ELSA Speak can help students to learn how to pronounce some words, and this application can make the students be more confident when want to talk with English language.

Abstract

Abstract

The widespread in accessing mobile phone changed the way people learning. Dealing with the rapid growth of technology, Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) becoming popular because of the portability. MALL is characterized by its potential for learning to be spontaneous, informal, personalized, and ubiquitous. Two main discussions were analyzed in the research; to investigate the implementation of MALL and to know students perspective on Using MALL in writing class. Classroom action research applied in the research, in which observation and interview were used as instruments in collecting the data. The research result shown that MALL were able to be implemented in writing class, it facilitated the students to express their idea and feeling in writing with online board platform such as Padlet.

Abstract

The most important component of a language is the functional component, namely meaning creation. Advertisement is a product of marketing process where its process of communication is built interestingly and therefore it is also very interesting to observe the use of language in it. This study focuses on identifying gender ideology and image construction in printed advertisement. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result shows that every text has a character and its own way in delivering the image of gender, and based on the text analysis, two categories of ideology which core the image of gender are finally revealed; they are sexist and women and men degrees.

Abstract

To achieve better knowledge, students are expected to be able to read some books in a week. But nowadays, reading no longer becomes student’s habit. It seems because teachers teaching method is still need to be modified in order to get students attention and interest. This research aims to find out the methods used by the teacher in teaching reading and student response on the method. The research adopted descriptive-qualitative research method and in collecting the data observation and interview were used as the instruments of the research. After doing the research, the data found that there are two kinds of method are used by the teacher while he/she teaches reading classroom, namely; direct method and language experience approach (LEA). Meanwhile, the student response toward teacher reading method shown that most of students like teachers reading method, only few students dislike about teachers teaching methods.

Abstract

Mastery over words helps leaner English to communicate their emotions and purpose more effectively. Grammatical ability is how English leaner understanding grammar lesson. It also can identify the adjective is one of the must have capabilities by students. In this research, the researcher used worksheet to find out students’ ability in identifying adjectives Qur’an surah Luqman verse 13 until 19. This research was conducted at Islamic Education Faculty of Ibn Khaldun University, Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidiyah (PGMI) Department. Qualitative research method used in this study. The result of this research shows that the ability of students can be concluded that students’ ability to identify adjectives is still medium. From the nine adjectives found in surah Luqman English translation verse 13 until 19, the highest number is six. The students of PGMI can learn English by using Qur’anic verses about education that has been translated in English, this also the same with all surah in the noble Al- Quran. So that it is recommended to use any part of the noble Qur’an as teaching media specially reading and structure. Using English translation of noble Qur’an will make students add vocabulary and learn more about language.

Abstract

Microblogging are often used by the teacher in the learning process. Microblogging like Instagram is one of the web technologies or applications that are used for the learning process. Microblogging is not only writing a tweet on Twitter. On Instagram students also can be media for student learning writing. In addition, microblogging can be used as interesting media to learn English. Therefore this study was conducted to find out what is a significant effect of using microblogging and also find out what are student perception of the use of microblogging to elevate student creativity in a writing activity. using qualitative methods, research instruments are interview, questionnaires, and documents. The study was conducted at one of the vocational school in Bogor with eight students as participants. From the findings, it is concluded that students have some significant and have positive perceptions after using microblogging in writing activities. Most students agreed that microblogging is easy to use for writing. They also said microblogging is an interesting medium for learning English. In addition, can motivate them to write better and elevate their creativity. Keyword: Microblogging, Creative Writing, EFL

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all countries, including Indonesia, which has restricted all outside activities. It is also prominent in the field of education, where blended learning is used in the learning process, resulting in a variety of views for students. The researcher wanted to know the students’ point of view of this method. The aims of the research are to describe students' perspectives on the use of blended learning in learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Blended learning is a combination of face-to-face and online instruction. This study used a qualitative research design, with questionnaires and interviews as data collection. The participants of the study were 14 second-year university students who used blended learning activities. The results of the study show the effectiveness, benefits, constraints, and effects of blended learning on students' perspectives during COVID-19.

Abstract

Globalization has made intercultural communication a necessity; it is the compelling urgency for students in 21st century English education. Intercultural Communication Competence intercultural communication competence is essential so the students could communicate globally within various cultural backgrounds. Intercultural communication competence allows students to communicate well in any circumstances, manage their effective learning, and adjust effectively to more extensive and multiple communities by recognizing their level of intercultural communication competence. The study is undertaken to discover an accurate picture of Higher Students' level of Intercultural Communication Competence and map their ability to communicate between culture. This study will employ a case study as the research methodology. Online questionnaires and interviews were used to explore students' level of I intercultural communication competence. There are some results of this study, one of them is most of the students have a good level of Intercultural Communicative Competence. Most of them have excellent cultural knowledge and sensitivity that will help them develops their professionalism, communication, and their learning in particular.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores teachers’ perceptions of Project-Based Learning in English language teaching to promote Higher-Order Thinking Skills. Using a qualitative case study design, the research involved three junior high school teachers in Bogor Regency, selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected via open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Findings showed that teachers viewed project-based learning as a student-centered approach emphasizing real-world relevance, collaboration, product creation, and contextual learning. Implementation included planning, scaffolding, group work, facilitation, and feedback. Teachers reported that project-based learning fostered higher-order thinking skills by encouraging critical analysis, creativity, and reflection, although challenges such as time constraints and diverse student abilities remained. The study underscores the need for teacher readiness, resources, and contextualized instruction to optimize project-based learning in promoting higher-order thinking skills.
