Abstract

This article shows and analyses forms, meaning and functions of nouns’ signs of Helong language. The method used in this research is field method with taking note technique and recording. The results of this research shows that there are three nouns’ signs of Helong language that are categorized into: basic forms, combine forms and gemination forms (due to phonological process). There are three basic noun forms of some relative distances, those are -a (that/close to the speaker); -ia (this/close to the speaker) and –ua (far from the speaker). There are three forms of positions’ signs due to the combination of preposition -ne and nouns, those are: nia (ne + -a), nua (ne + ia, = ni) and nua (ne + -ua). There are fifteen forms of nouns gemination due to phonological process are: nga, ngua, ngia, sia, sia, sua, tia, ta, tua, pa, pia, pua dan ra, ria, rua.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses perubahan bunyi atau perubahan fonem sebagai akibat dari adanya proses morfologi baik proses afiksasi, proses reduplikasi maupun proses komposisi dari reduplikasi berprefiks meng- dalam bahasa Indonesia. Selanjutnya proses-proses yang terjadi dijabarkan dengan menggunakan aplikasi Toolbox version 1.5.9 sebagai suatu pengaplisian teknologi. Data analisis diambil dari tiga novel buah karya V. Lestari dan satu buah novel karya Mira W. Teori yang dipakai adalah teori fonologi generatif yang dikemukan oleh Chomsky (Suparwa, 2009:1), serta pengaplikasian aplikasi Toolbox version 1.5.9 yang dikembangkan oleh  Alan Buseman dan Karen Buseman. Morfofemik dalam proses afiksasi dengan prefiks meng- dalam bahasa Indonesai terdiri atas tiga bentuk. Pertama, pengekalan fonem untuk bentuk dasar yang diawali konsonan /r, l, w, y, m, n, y, dan ny/. Kedua, perubahan fonem nasal /m, n, y dan ye/. Perubahan fonem /m/ terjadi pada bentuk dasar yang diawali konsonan /b/ dan /f/, penambahan fonem nasal /n/ terjadi pada bentuk dasar yang diawali /d/; penambahan fonem nasal /?/ terjadi pada bentuk dasar yang diawali dengan /g, h, kh, a, i, u, e, dan o/. Kaidah perubahan bunyi yang terjadi mirip dengan bunyi yang mengikutinya.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran menulis Bahasa Inggris serta masih rendahnya kemampuan menulis mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui besarnya pengaruh penggunaan media Cartoon Story Maker terhadap tulisan mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, perencanaan, pleaksanaan, analisis, dan penyajian data. Data diperoleh dari hasil tulisan mahasiswa dan juga kuesioner yang diisi mahasiswa. Tulisan mahasiswa dinilai dengan menggunakan Penilaian Acuan Patokan (PAP). Selanjutnya nilai tersebut dianalisis menggunakan SPS22 untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media tersebut. Hasilnya, seluruh komponen tulisan dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan media Cartoon Story maker dengan pengaruh yang paling besar terdapat pada komponen organisasi pada tulisan mahasiswa.Abstract:  The lack of using technology in teaching English and also the lack of students' writing skills become the background of this study. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of the effect of the use of the media Cartoon Story Maker on student writing. The methods used include observation, planning, implementation, analysis, and data presentation. Data obtained from the results of student writing and questionnaires filled out by students. Student writing was assessed using the Benchmark Reference Assessment. Then the score was analysed using SPS22 to determine the effect of the use of the media. As a result, all writing components were influenced by the use of the Cartoon Story maker media with the greatest effect on the organizational component of student writing.

Abstract

This research examined the meaning and discourse of a tradition named Basan. Halliday‘s approaches of discourse analysis was used in this research, and was organized around three generalized semiotic meanings that relate to social action (field), roles of people (tenor), and organization of the text or sign (mode). Carrying out the maintenance and revitalization of oral literature was done objectively. “Basan” is a rhythmic traditional speech that is uttered with different intonations in order to convey the main points of speech that is spoken according to the context in order to see the meaning contained in each speech and the context associated with the text spoken. The context in oral tradition “Basan” includes place, time, results and message, which begins with an opening and ends with closing, while the meaning that can be applied in the oral tradition “Basan” are lexical and contextual meanings. “Basan” consists of context and flow, those are opening, main utterance, and closing. For its discourse, “Basan” is done verbally (mode), done by the leaders of the village to the guests in social occasion and by the priest to the assembly in religion occasion (tenor), and done in a social interaction and spiritual activities (field).

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students’ understanding on sesonggan (proverb) of Balinese language. The implementation of visual media to improve understanding of the students of Taman Rama Junior High School on sesonggan using Constructivism theory and the media is visual media. Almost all groups can use the visual media properly based on the performance rubrics. The impact of visual media to improve students’ understanding can be seen through their quiz’ results which shown that the mean out 24 students is 98 (excellent). Students’ interest about the topics was 87.5% has good response about visual media and it can be seen through their answers which stated that they were happy, not boring, attractive, easy and practical.

Abstract

Figurative language is one of the literary devices used to enrich the meaning of literature work. The research problem of this research is to find the figurative language and its meaning in the novel “It Starts with Us”. This is qualitative research and used literary study. The data collection is taken from the novel “It Starts with Us” by Collen Roover, published in 2022. The data shows that there were five kinds of figurative language simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, and repetition. Out of 86 data; 76 data (86%) were simile that consisted of using “like” 65 data (75,5%), using “as” 6 data (6,9%), and using “as…as” 3 data (3,4%). Data figurative language on metaphor and hyperbole were 4 each (4,65%). The last data were personification and repetition which with 2 data each (2,32%). It can be concluded that the novelist emphasized the expressions of metaphor to compare the situation and emotions in the story of the novel.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the grammatical errors in their TOEIC writing simulation test. This is qualitative research that uses Surface Strategy Taxonomy (SST) to examine the errors. The participants of this study are 26 students of Class L – INSTIKI. The results of this study showed that after examining the data using SST based on the data were 3 errors found those are omission with 26 errors (81,3%), addition with 3 errors (9,4%), and misformation with 3 errors (9,4%). These 3 errors have each Sub Kind of Error (SKE), omission with 26 data consisting of missing “to be” with 10 data (38,5%), missing article “the” with 4 data (15,4%), preposition “of” with 2 data (7,7%)), preposition “on” with 2 data (7,7%)), missing pronoun “it” with 1 data (3,8%)), and wrong spelling with 7 data (26,9%)). In addition, there were 3 data consisting of wrong pronouns (redundancy) with 2 data (66,7%), and wrong spelling with 1 data (33,3%). The last one is misformation consisting of 3 data, the error where wrong verb-ing consists of 2 data (66,7%), and wrong verb 2 consists of 1 data (33,3%). The data above shows that omission still has the highest number of errors while addition and misformation share the same number of errors. The omission happened mostly on tenses for example Simple Present Tense, modal verbs, and prepositions. In addition, wrong spelling also still becomes a problem in writing.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using the Duolingo application to improve students’ writing skills. The participants of this research are students of INSTIKI who are taking the subject Bahasa Inggris Dasar. The method used was Classroom Action Research and analyzed using Duolingo. The results showed significant progress in the pre-test, implementation, and post-test. The results showed that students writing skills in their application letters have improved much through the number of mistakes/errors. The results of this research have shown that the implementation of AI, especially the application of Duolingo and CAR has a good impact and positive outcomes to improve students’ writing skills. The results of Cycle I and Cycle II have shown that from 5 kinds of mistakes/errors, there were a significantly decreased number of errors that were: 1) prepositions from 20 to 5 errors; 2) agreement of numbers and nouns from 15 to 4 errors; 3) pronouns from 8 to 2 errors; 4) verbs from 20 to 6 errors; and 5) nouns from 20 to 8 errors. As students of IT College, the participants are encouraged to improve their skills in IT and foreign languages especially English. This finding has shown that the implementation of AI like Duolingo for IT Students is relevant to their field of study. in this digitalization era.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi industri 4.0 yang berdampak pada disrupsi teknologi pada berbagai bidang, contohnya bidang pendidikan. Dengan memahami literasi digital tentang implementasi teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dalam bidang pendidikan tentunya teknologi dapat menjadi pendukung utama dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah khususnya pada SDN 6 Desa Pecatu. Siswa telah mendapatkan fasilitas untuk pembelajaran teknologi informasi dan komunikasi khususnya komputer dasar. Namun belum dimaksimalkan dikarenakan kemampuan dan kecakapan siswa dalam menggunakan aplikasi masih sangat kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi kepada guru dan siswa dalam mengetahui aplikasi pendukung proses pembelajaran yaitu Microsoft office word. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan responden 15 siswa kelas V dan VI SD N 6 Desa pecatu. Hasil penelitian dengan menerapkan tahapan implementasi TIK pada bidang pendidikan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan kecakapan siswa dalam penggunakan teknologi serta peningkatan wawasan terhadap literasi digital.

Abstract

The research aims to examine the effectiveness of the implementation of the picture series to improve the speaking skills of the students in INSTIKI. The participants of this research are 22 students of Bahasa Inggris I Class B. This is mixed research that measured quantitatively and qualitatively. The method used was Class Action research (CAR) which was implemented in 3 cycles, which are pre-cycle (observation), cycle I, and cycle II. The results of the research showed that in cycle 1 The data showed that in cycle I, without a picture series, the students made 3 kinds of errors, those are: 1) agreement of subject and verb (20 errors); 2) connectors (15 errors); and 3) time expressions (9 errors). While in cycle II with the group division, the errors made were lessened compared to the second group (with picture series), those are: 1) agreement of subject and verb (8 errors); 2) connectors (5 errors); and 3) time expressions (2 errors). On the other hand, the first group (without picture series) did not have much improvement. The first group made errors as follows: 1) agreement of subject and verb (17 errors); 2) connectors (12 errors); and 3) time expressions (7 errors). The implementation of two two-sample tests (two-group division) has shown the differences between them. It can be concluded that the implementation of picture series can improve students’ speaking skills.
