Abstract

This article shows and analyses forms, meaning and functions of nouns’ signs of Helong language. The method used in this research is field method with taking note technique and recording. The results of this research shows that there are three nouns’ signs of Helong language that are categorized into: basic forms, combine forms and gemination forms (due to phonological process). There are three basic noun forms of some relative distances, those are -a (that/close to the speaker); -ia (this/close to the speaker) and –ua (far from the speaker). There are three forms of positions’ signs due to the combination of preposition -ne and nouns, those are: nia (ne + -a), nua (ne + ia, = ni) and nua (ne + -ua). There are fifteen forms of nouns gemination due to phonological process are: nga, ngua, ngia, sia, sia, sua, tia, ta, tua, pa, pia, pua dan ra, ria, rua.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses perubahan bunyi atau perubahan fonem sebagai akibat dari adanya proses morfologi baik proses afiksasi, proses reduplikasi maupun proses komposisi dari reduplikasi berprefiks meng- dalam bahasa Indonesia. Selanjutnya proses-proses yang terjadi dijabarkan dengan menggunakan aplikasi Toolbox version 1.5.9 sebagai suatu pengaplisian teknologi. Data analisis diambil dari tiga novel buah karya V. Lestari dan satu buah novel karya Mira W. Teori yang dipakai adalah teori fonologi generatif yang dikemukan oleh Chomsky (Suparwa, 2009:1), serta pengaplikasian aplikasi Toolbox version 1.5.9 yang dikembangkan oleh  Alan Buseman dan Karen Buseman. Morfofemik dalam proses afiksasi dengan prefiks meng- dalam bahasa Indonesai terdiri atas tiga bentuk. Pertama, pengekalan fonem untuk bentuk dasar yang diawali konsonan /r, l, w, y, m, n, y, dan ny/. Kedua, perubahan fonem nasal /m, n, y dan ye/. Perubahan fonem /m/ terjadi pada bentuk dasar yang diawali konsonan /b/ dan /f/, penambahan fonem nasal /n/ terjadi pada bentuk dasar yang diawali /d/; penambahan fonem nasal /?/ terjadi pada bentuk dasar yang diawali dengan /g, h, kh, a, i, u, e, dan o/. Kaidah perubahan bunyi yang terjadi mirip dengan bunyi yang mengikutinya.

Abstract

This study aims to improve English grammar understanding using ERWRT for STMIK STIKOM Indonesia’s students. The approach in this research is action research using Classroom Action research (CAR). The data are collected by using observation, interview and literary research. The results of this study showed that the implementation of ERWRT has improved students’ level of understanding on English grammar that can be seen through pre-implementation, Middle Test (Cycle I) and Final Test (Cycle II). The results of pre–implementation show that out of 38 students, there were 28 students did not get the lowest score 55 as the passing score of the college. Middle Test (Cycle I) tested 6 topics those are (1) subject pronouns; (2) preposition of place; (3) simple present tense; (4) agreement of subject and verb; (5) agreement of numbers and nouns dan (6) simple past tense. The results of the test show that out of 36 students only 18 students get the score above 55. Final Test (Cycle II) there is 15 numbers tested with 6 previous topics and 6 new topics; those are (1) article; (2) object pronouns; (3) time division (AM/PM); (4) telling time and (5) modal verbs. The results of Cycle II show that 35 students can score above 55. In conclusion, ERWRT can be applied to improve students’ level of understanding on English grammar and writing skills. This test also can be used to analyze grammar error through reading but cannot be used for listening and speaking skills.

Abstract

One way of improving understanding of English for Specific Purposes is through Contextual Redefinition Strategy (CRS). The implementation of CRS is meant to enhance the understanding of students of STMIK STIKOM Indonesia mostly in computers and business terms. The implementation of CRS is done through Classroom Action Research (CAR) in 3 stages of activities; those are pre-implementation, Middle Test (Cycle I) and Final Test (Cycle II). Besides, questionnaire is used with the purpose to know students’ attitude towards CRS’ implementation. The results of reading test on pre–implementation show that out of 40 students, there were 26 students did not get the lowest score 55 as the passing score of the college. After the explanation of CRS stages, middle and Final Tests tested the topics of reading texts on computers and business through search for clues in nearby words or sentences, and paragraphs of a text. Specific context clues that should be explicitly considered to understand the meaning of the sentences are definition/explanation, synonym/restatement, antonym/contrast, inference/general, and punctuation context. The results of Middle Test show that 22 students could get the score above 55, however most of students made mistakes in making redefinition based on inference/general and punctuation context. The results of Cycle II show that all students can score above 55. Besides, the results show that the students could improve their understanding for inference/general and punctuation context. The questionnaire shows that the students are motivated to acquire more and more vocabularies based on the needs for computer and business terms. The implementation of CRS does not only improve students’ ability to understand English based on its context but also enrich the vocabularies.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to find out grammar mistakes and obstacles in learning English through writing. Through writing, students can improve their understanding by paying close attention to the grammar and content. The implementation of CRS is meant to enhance the understanding of students of STMIK STIKOM Indonesia. And the implementation of Surface Strategy Taxonomy (SST) is done through documentation of students’ work through translation. The data source is taken from a report text in Indonesian as source language and translated it into English as target language. In order to know the benefit of SST, students are given the questionnaire to gain the data. Data collection is the results of students’ translations sheets. The results of 68 students’ translation work show that there are 98 error found in 4 kinds (errors omission, addition, mis-ordering and mis-formation) and each kind of error has its own sub-kind errors (SKE). The biggest error is omission with 39 errors (39,8%) and lowest error is mis-ordering with 12 errors (12,2%). Omission has 2 SKE, those are grammatical morpheme with 23 errors (23,5%) and content morpheme with 16 error (16,3%). Addition has 29 errors (29,6%) with SKE 16 simple errors addition (16,3%), and 13 double error addition (13,3%). Mis-ordering has 12 errors (12,2%) with SKE 4 misplacement of verbs (4,0%) and 8 misplacements of words/items (8,1%). Mis-formation has 18 errors with SKE 5 error of alternating form/ prepositions (5,1%), 6 errors of content oriented lexical/quantifiers (6,1%) and tenses with 7 errors (7,1%). There were 9 errors found in the agreement between demonstrative pronoun and noun (9,1%) and the lowest number of errors are apostrophe s and misplacement of verb with 4 errors each (4,0%). The questionnaire shows that the implementation of SST does help the students where 30 students (46,2%) said that they know their mistake, 24 students (36,9%) stated that they know about the words’ choice/diction and 11 students (16,9%) said that SST helps them to improve their English grammar. Besides, students are encouraged to practice more English in their daily.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi dalam pembelajaran menulis Bahasa Inggris serta masih rendahnya kemampuan menulis mahasiswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui besarnya pengaruh penggunaan media Cartoon Story Maker terhadap tulisan mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, perencanaan, pleaksanaan, analisis, dan penyajian data. Data diperoleh dari hasil tulisan mahasiswa dan juga kuesioner yang diisi mahasiswa. Tulisan mahasiswa dinilai dengan menggunakan Penilaian Acuan Patokan (PAP). Selanjutnya nilai tersebut dianalisis menggunakan SPS22 untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media tersebut. Hasilnya, seluruh komponen tulisan dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan media Cartoon Story maker dengan pengaruh yang paling besar terdapat pada komponen organisasi pada tulisan mahasiswa.Abstract:  The lack of using technology in teaching English and also the lack of students' writing skills become the background of this study. The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of the effect of the use of the media Cartoon Story Maker on student writing. The methods used include observation, planning, implementation, analysis, and data presentation. Data obtained from the results of student writing and questionnaires filled out by students. Student writing was assessed using the Benchmark Reference Assessment. Then the score was analysed using SPS22 to determine the effect of the use of the media. As a result, all writing components were influenced by the use of the Cartoon Story maker media with the greatest effect on the organizational component of student writing.

Abstract

As the ideology of Indonesia, the existence of Pancasila is not without any challenges. In the development of science and technology, the existence of Pancasila is full of struggles. One of the challenges is the rapid social development that have happened nowadays has brought some changes in social activities. These social changes are marked by the development of the generation based on the needs for science and technology. Generation Z nowadays is known as the most active in their activities that depends on the technology devices and for this reasons generation Z needs strong guidelines in utilizing it. The implementation Pancasila value for Generation Z must be in accordance with the needs of Generation Z that are vulnerable for the ethics and morality. The knowledge of Pancasila value with dynamic ways for Generation Z is important so the moral value in Pancasila can be reflected in the personality of Generation Z. The research aims to implement the value of Pancasila that is important for the development of generation Z in the rapid progress of technology nowadays. This research used qualitative method. The implementation of moral science and characters based on Pancasila for Generation Z should be dynamics in accordance with the development of technological era. The implementation of Pancasila value based on their needs and characters of Generation Z is an anticipative way so the value of believe in God, humanity, unity, democracy and social justice still exist and create young generation that have the moral value of Pancasila.

Abstract

This social engagement is done in order to improve understanding and performance of the teachers of Taman Rama Jimbaran Junior High School (TRJ-JHS) where there is no teachers that have the background study in Informatics and Technology. There are only 5 classes n TRJ-JHS. This small numbers of classes has caused less number of teaching periods. The solution to solve this problem is by assigning the teachers to teach other subjects that were not their background of study before. Based on the regulation of Educational Ministry Number 15 Year 2018, verse 4 poin 3 stated that “The implementation of learning process is 24 period per week as the minimum total and 40 periods per week as the maximum total. This lack of knowledge has made teachers found difficulties especially regarding the topics about Algorithm and programs. Purposes of study are to improve the level of knowledge and performances also it will enable the teachers to teach the students appropriately based on the competency gained. Method used was online conference through Ms Team. Main findings of this social engagement are: the eagerness of the Principal and teachers of TRJ-JHS to improve level of knowledge and performances by giving feedback through practices. There were 2 times evaluations after 3rd and 4th meetings by reconsidering difficulties on the process. The teachers are able to understand the topics especially on Algorithm and the skills in making and editing the learning videos. The results of pre-test and post-test has shown the improvement where at the pre-test out of 20 participants, 16 failed while 4 passed the passing score 76 and the results of post-test was all participants can get the scored 76 and above. Finally, this improvement is expected to be applied properly and appropriately for students especially for the subject Informatics and technology.

Abstract

Development of technology globally, the needs of the community, especially the younger generation, for technological devices in daily activities are important. As a result of these developments, technology has gradually changed the behavior of society and human civilization globally. The development of internet technology has also caused the world to become borderless and caused significant changes in human behavior. Cyberbullying among the young generation today is an important issue that cannot be underestimated at this time. This problem can occur in any country regardless of the level of socio-economic development of a region. Cyberbullying has a negative impact on the psychological condition of victims of bullying. This research is a literature review that discusses library materials and legal materials related to cyberbullying. This study aims to determine the legal aspects related to cyber bullying behavior so that every level of society, especially the younger generation, understands and understands legal aspects such as the impact / consequences of cyber bullying behavior. This study uses a normative juridical research method using library law sources. The fact that there are many cases of cyber bullying involving students is evidence that the public's understanding of the negative impact of cyber bullying behavior is low. Every victim of bullying also deserves a sense of security and legal protection. The existence of socialization of the legal impact of cyber bullying behavior is very necessary, none other than so that cyber bullying behavior can be prevented or minimized.

Abstract

This research examined the meaning and discourse of a tradition named Basan. Halliday‘s approaches of discourse analysis was used in this research, and was organized around three generalized semiotic meanings that relate to social action (field), roles of people (tenor), and organization of the text or sign (mode). Carrying out the maintenance and revitalization of oral literature was done objectively. “Basan” is a rhythmic traditional speech that is uttered with different intonations in order to convey the main points of speech that is spoken according to the context in order to see the meaning contained in each speech and the context associated with the text spoken. The context in oral tradition “Basan” includes place, time, results and message, which begins with an opening and ends with closing, while the meaning that can be applied in the oral tradition “Basan” are lexical and contextual meanings. “Basan” consists of context and flow, those are opening, main utterance, and closing. For its discourse, “Basan” is done verbally (mode), done by the leaders of the village to the guests in social occasion and by the priest to the assembly in religion occasion (tenor), and done in a social interaction and spiritual activities (field).
