Abstract

LBW is newborns with a birth weight less than 2500 grams. one cause of low birth weight in developing counties according to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2oo4 was the habit of smoking. Pregnant women as passive smokers have risks of having low birth weight babies because of the toxins in cigarettes that can impede blood flow. Thus, this interferes with the growth and development of babies. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between smoking husband and the incident of LBW in the maternity ward of Waled Local Hospital in May 2013. The method uses was an analytical survey with a retrospective cohort design. The sampling technique was an accidental sampling. The population was all husband who?s a wife giving birth in Waled Local Hospital in May 2013 amounting to 157 persons. the samples in the study were 136 people. The study was conducted in May 2013. Data collection used spreadsheet instrument through direct questioning with the patients on the patient husband with an observation by measuring the baby weight using body weight scale. The data analysis used univariate with frequency distribution and bivariate with chi-square statistical test. The result showed that there were 38 babies with low birth weight (27.9%) and almost half of husband smoked near their wives by 61 persons (44.9%). The result bivariate analysis revealed that there was a significant relationship between smoking husband and the incidence of LBW. It is then recommended that health workers should improve and counseling on the dangers of secondhand smoke for mother and fetus in order to provide information to the public.

Abstract

Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama 1 hari.

Abstract

Early sex education is an important effort to prevent sexual violence against children. Mothers play a significant role as the first educators in the family; therefore, they need adequate knowledge and skills in providing sex education to young children. This community service activity, titled “Mother Care Training for the Prevention of Child Sexual Violence,” targeted mothers with children under six years old. The two-day training (approximately four hours per day) began with an assessment of participants’ knowledge and attitudes, followed by educational sessions using presentations, videos, and role play. The program concluded with a post-training evaluation and the development of follow-up plans. The results showed an increase in average maternal knowledge from 19.17 to 21.75 and an increase in attitudes from 76.17 to 21.75. Moreover, participants became more empowered to share the information with other mothers. It is recommended that health centers integrate child sexual violence prevention efforts into existing programs and implement routine educational activities in schools and communities.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding coverage for infants aged 0-6 months was 71.58% in 2021, but most provinces still have coverage below the national average. One of the causes is knowledge. Interesting and fun learning media can affect knowledge or learning outcomes, one of which is interactive media in the form of a monopoly game. The study aims to develop a learning media monopoly game that is feasible in terms of media and material and to determine the effectiveness of learning media monopoly games to improve the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women in breastfeeding. This research method uses a research and development model developed by Borg and Gall consisting of 10 steps starting from potential and problems to mass production. The results showed that the feasibility aspects by material experts and users obtained an average score of 4.32 and media experts for engineering aspects 4.9 and visual communication aspects 4.62, all of which were in the good category, meaning that they were feasible and validated to be tested. The statistical test results show that there is an increase in knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about breastfeeding after lactation education using educational media in the form of monopoly games with p-value = 0.000 < α 0.05. The conclusion is that lactation education learning media in the form of Monopoly games is effective in increasing the interest of pregnant women in breastfeeding preparation.
