Abstract

The government gives society Fe tablets as a way to handle anemia in Indonesia. The low obedience to consume Fe table is the cause of this program that is not effective enough from the government. The research aim is to know the correlated between knowledge, teachers' support, parents' support, health workers' support and self-efficacy on teenage girls’ obedience to consume Fe tablets. The research was an observational study by using a cross-sectional design for 191 students who were taken by purposive sampling technique. Collecting data used questioners that have been tested for validity and reliability. Then, the data were analyzed by using chi-square test and mann withney. The results of the analysis showed that the majority of teenage girls have good knowledge of the importance to consume Fe tablets, namely (52.4%), teachers support (68.8%), parents support (56.0%), health workers support (60.2%), positive self-efficacy (59.2%) and level of compliance with consuming Fe tablets 25% (1 tablet/month) (73.8%). The results of statistical analysis of teenage girls’ as factors in consuming Fe tablets are as follows: a knowledge factor (p-value 0.033), teachers support (p-value 0.008), parents support (p-value 0.011), health workers support (p-value 0.004) and self-efficacy (p-value 0.000). There was a correlated between knowledge, teachers' support, parents' support, health workers' and self-efficacy on teenage girls’ obedience to consume Fe tablets. The suggestions for midwives or other health workers by increasing cooperation to monitor and route outreach to each school either through printed media such as leaflets, books or other more creative electronic media.

Abstract

Introduction: Functional drink is a functional food. As functional food, functional drinks must of course fulfill two main functions, namely providing nutritional intake and sensory satisfaction such as good taste and good texture. Sweet potato production in Indonesia from year to year has increased in 2014 production of 2,382,658 tons, slightly decreased in 2015 which amounted to 2,297,634 tons West Java Province is the largest sweet potato cultivator in Indonesia.. Sweet potato leaves can be used to increase the level of Fe will maintain the life of mice with anemia and increase Hb levels of pregnant women. Purpose: The aims of this research is to find out the effectiveness and role of sweet potato leaf-based functional drinks in adolescent girls with anemia as the first step in stunting prevention in Cirebon City Method: This study will use a Quasi Experiment design with a pretest-posttest control design approach. This design was chosen to measure the effectiveness of a functional drink intervention based on sweet potato leaves on increasing hemoglobin levels and nutritional status in adolescent girls with anemia at the stunting locus at the PONED Sitopeng Health Center Result: This functional drink formulation provides a contemporary taste and increases the content of vitamins and minerals. Fermentation of beverages also produces high levels of polyherorols, reaching 166 mg/L and 223 mg/L, Vitamin B6 as much as 0.07 mg, Vitamin C (3.7 mg), Magnesium (3.6 mg), Zinc (0.40 mg), Iron (0.92 mg) and Calcium (4.13 mg). Based on the results of the analysis, the comparison of the median Hb level of adolescent girls before the intervention was 11 and after the intervention was 14.8 and the p value was < 0.001, which means that statistically there is a significant difference between Hb before the intervention and after the intervention. Conclusion: Statistically, there was a median difference between Hemoglobin (Hb) levels before the intervention and after the intervention. The results of the study provide an idea that functional drinks made from sweet potato leaves are able to increase Hemoglobin (Hb) levels, so functional drinks based on sweet potato leaves are important to support the reduction of stunting.

Abstract

Inadequate maternal nutrition during pregnancy directly triggers chronic malnutrition and stunting, severely impacting fetal development and long-term cognitive growth. This study aims to explore the socioeconomic and cultural barriers to adequate nutritional intake among pregnant women in stunting-prone urban areas and to identify integrated solutions. A convergent parallel mixed-methods design was conducted in Cirebon City, Indonesia. Quantitative data from 42 pregnant women selected via purposive sampling a sample size adequate for thematic saturation in this localized context were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Concurrently, qualitative insights were gathered through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Economic constraints emerged as the primary barrier, with 64.3% of families living below the regional minimum wage. Cultural traditions, including specific food taboos and early marriage, further compromised dietary quality. While maternal nutritional awareness was moderate (71.4%), the quality of counselling provided by local health workers remained suboptimal and irregular. Maternal malnutrition in stunting-prone urban areas is deeply rooted in structural economic limitations and reinforced by cultural practices. Addressing this requires localized policy interventions that combine economic safety nets with culturally tailored nutritional education from healthcare providers.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia among adolescent girls remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, partly due to low adherence to Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (IFAS) tablet consumption and the lack of an individual-based monitoring system. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a WhatsApp-based application for reminding and monitoring IFAS intake using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Waterfall model. The development process included requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing, with data collected through interviews and observations at Sumber Primary Healthcare Center, Cirebon Regency, Indonesia. The application integrates automated WhatsApp reminders, daily IFAS consumption tracking, hemoglobin (Hb) data entry, and interactive graphical reporting features. Usability was assessed using the System Usability Scale (SUS) involving 30 adolescent girls. The application achieved an average SUS score of 66.3, indicating a Marginal level of acceptability with a Grade C rating. The results demonstrate that the system is functionally feasible as a tool to support the implementation and monitoring of IFAS supplementation programs. Nevertheless, further refinement is needed to improve user experience, interaction quality, and overall usability, thereby enhancing user acceptance and the effectiveness of digital health interventions among adolescent girls.
