Abstract

Objective: Academic writing proficiency is fundamental for students, yet many faces significant challenges. This study synthesizes evidence on the effectiveness of technology integration, particularly AI, with the process approach in academic writing instruction. Method: Using systematic literature review following PRISMA guidelines, searches across eight databases yielded 85 articles (2010-2025) with inter-rater reliability Cohen's Kappa 0.78. Analysis employed thematic analysis using TPACK framework and SAMR model. Results: Reveal a significant research gap with only 9.4% of articles specifically integrating technology with process approach. Synthesis of 32 quantitative studies shows 87.5% report improved writing quality with medium-large effect sizes (d=0.45-1.20), particularly in language-grammar (93.3%), citation-referencing (100%), and structure-organization (89.3%). Affective aspects increased consistently: motivation (91.7%), self-efficacy (94.7%), and positive attitudes (95.2%). AI tools (25.9%) demonstrate high versatility supporting all writing process stages. Challenges include limited internet access (44.7%), lack of teacher training (49.4%), and infrastructure support (42.4%). Novelty: Includes integrated framework synthesizing multiple theories, evidence-based taxonomy of technologies for process writing stages, and contextualized analysis for Indonesia. Best practices emphasize purposeful integration, scaffolded implementation, critical engagement, and formative assessment.

Abstract

This study examines teachers’ and students’ perceptions of integrating Islamic texts into English reading instruction at an Islamic high school in Tangerang, Indonesia. Although religious texts have the potential to support literacy development and character education, current English learning materials lack such integration. To address this gap, the study explores how educators and learners perceive Islamic texts and identifies the benefits and challenges of incorporating them into English reading classes. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with three English teachers and three students, open-ended questionnaires administered to thirty students, four classroom observations, and document analyses of syllabi and lesson plans. The findings show that both teachers and students respond positively to using Islamic texts: teachers regard them as effective tools for promoting moral values and enhancing reading skills, while students report increased engagement, motivation, and a stronger connection to the content. However, challenges include sourcing level-appropriate materials, managing linguistic complexity, and ensuring inclusivity in diverse classroom contexts. The study recommends careful material selection, collaboration between English and Islamic education teachers, and the use of varied multimodal resources aligned with the CEFR to integrate language instruction and character development effectively.

Abstract

This study investigates linguistic aspects in student paper writing through systematic error analysis in the History of Literature course. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with document analysis as the primary data collection method. Student papers were systematically examined to identify and categorise linguistic errors across multiple dimensions of academic writing. The analysis revealed a total of 649 linguistic errors distributed across nine categories. Spelling errors dominated with 295 occurrences (45.45%), indicating significant challenges in orthographic accuracy. Word choice errors ranked second with 70 instances (10.79%), followed by grammar errors with 63 occurrences (9.71%) and punctuation errors with 61 instances (9.40%). Sentence structure problems appeared 57 times (8.78%), whilst terminology errors occurred 40 times (6.16%). Affixation errors were identified 29 times (4.47%), cohesion and coherence issues 28 times (4.31%), and politeness/register errors only 6 times (0.92%). The findings demonstrate that surface-level linguistic features, particularly spelling and lexical selection, present the greatest challenges for students writing academic papers in literary studies. The high frequency of spelling errors despite available technological support suggests insufficient proofreading strategies and limited awareness of common orthographic patterns. Word choice and grammar errors indicate ongoing development in academic vocabulary and syntactic control. The relatively low occurrence of cohesion and register errors suggests reasonable competence in discourse organisation and rhetorical awareness. These findings have important pedagogical implications, highlighting the need for explicit instruction in orthographic conventions, strategic vocabulary development, and systematic editing practices. The study contributes valuable insights for designing targeted interventions to support students' academic writing development in literature courses.

Abstract

This study investigates the experiences of both students and teachers in applying the HyFlex model for English reading instruction in Indonesian vocational schools. A qualitative interview method was employed to gather data from participants, which were then analyzed using thematic analysis guided by Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory. The results indicate that HyFlex learning offers greater flexibility, enhances student motivation, and supports the development of reading skills. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including unstable internet connectivity, limited technological resources, and issues related to student discipline. The findings emphasize the crucial role of adequate technological infrastructure and effective pedagogical preparation in ensuring the successful implementation of the HyFlex model.
