Abstract

Kedungbanteng community makes Cacaban Dam as a place of entrepreneurial activity. The community is engaged in informal sector where they only need minimal skills and education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the profile and activity in of merchants in Cacaban Dam who often do business without government approval. The study was conducted through in-depth observations and interviews. The results show the trade in Cacaban Reservoir occurred because of a presumption that the reservoir Cacaban is a heritage land used for the purpose of the welfare of the Kedungbanteng community. Therefore, people feel they do not require official permission from the management of the reservoir when they open a place of business in these reservoirs. When government officer disciplined the traders, sometimes they do not heed it. Because of these assumptions, there is also a belief that there are people from outside the area that sell in Cacaban dam will not  be smooth and finally had to go out of business. The case studies illustrates the force of culture in human life.

Abstract

Coffee shell contains a lot of cellulose which can be used as a raw material to produces activated carbon. The demand of activated carbon tends to increase because it is used for a great variety of purposes, including the decolorizing of solutions of sugar, industrial chemicals, drugs, and dry-cleaning liquids, water purification, refining of vegetable and animal oils, and in recovery of gold and silver from cyanide ore-leach solutions. This investigation studied effect of tempeture and concentration of sodium chloride (as activator) on yield (rendement) and adsorption potential of activated carbon. In this investigation, coffee shell was dipped into the solution of sodium chloride with certain concentration and then it was carbonized into the muffle furnace. The carbon coke formed was then washed by using hot water and dried into the oven. The dried carbon coke was weighed and then tested the adsorption potential. The results of this investigation show that the yield (rendement) and adsorption potential of activated carbon increase with increasing the concentration of sodium chloride, but above the sodium chloride concentration of 20% the yield and adsorption potential of activated carbon tend to decrase. While the adsorption potential of activated carbon increases with temperature of carbonization, the yield of activated carbon decreases with temperature of carbonization, but above the carbonization tempeature of 600oC the adsorption potential of activated carbon tends to decreases.

Abstract

The crop of rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa var.Sabdariffa) known as medicienal crop and fiber producting crop. Last research was known as pulp. Growth of stem fiber are influenced by environmental factors. The aim of this research is to know the development of stem fiber is treated with different shading and volumes of water sprinkler. Factorial completely randomized design (RCD) was used in this research. The first factor was three levels of shading (I0: 0%, I1: 55%, I2:75%) while the second factor was three levels volumes of watering sprinkler (P1: 240 mL, P2: 480 mL, P3: 720 mL). The observed variable was total, diameter and long of rosella stem fiber cell. Collected data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s Multiply Range Test (DMRT). The result of this research indicate that there are influence interaction shading and volum water sprinkler to rosella stem fiber development. Shading treatment at all volums of water sprinkler have an effect on to improve the length and diameter cell fiber, without shading treatment with volum of water sprinkler at soil field capacity of improve the amount of fiber cell.
