Abstract

The purpose of this study is find out the effect of module-based bounded inquiry laboratory on the digestivesystem material of XI grade toward process dimension of students’ science literacy. This study was quasiexperimental research used the one group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study was allstudents of 7th State Senior High School Surakarta. The sample was taken using 28 students in XI grade ofscience class first. The data was collected through test and non-test techniques. Data analyzed by usingnormalized N-gain and Wilcoxon test. The result of study showed module-based bounded inquirylaboratory on the digestive system material of XI grade was influenced toward process dimension ofstudents’ science literacy by Wilcoxon test evidenced p < 0,05, Ho are ignored. Therefore, it is significantdifference of the result before (44,22) and after (83,51) the using module. Based on the results of the studycan be concluded that there is significant effect of module-based bounded inquiry laboratory on thedigestive system material of XI grade toward process dimension of students’ science literacy.

Abstract

ABSTRACT ? The aims of this research  are  certain the relationship of 1)  emotional quotient (EQ) with student?s cognitive learning achievement of biology in X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012, 2) learning  readiness with student?s cognitive  learning  achievement of biology in  X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012, 3) emotional quotient (EQ) and learning readiness with student?s cognitive  learning achievement of biology  in X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012. This was a correlational quantitive research. The population were all of the students in X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year of 2011/2012. The sample was taken among 74 samples of student using  simple random sampling  technique. The data was collected by  test, documentation, and questionnaire. Test was used to knowing  student?s  emotional quotient  (EQ), documentation was used to getting student?s cognitive learning achievement, and learning readiness was measured by using questionnaire. Analyze uses correlation regression analysis with SPSS 17. The result showed that  1) there  is  a relationship  between  emotional quotient (EQ) and student?s cognitive learning achievement of biology in X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012, 2) there is a relationship between  learning  readiness  and  student?s cognitive  learning  achievement  of biology in X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012, 3) there is a relationship both of  emotional quotient  (EQ)  and   learning  readiness with  student?s cognitive  learning  achievement  of biology in  X grade of SMA Negeri 7 Surakarta in academic year 2011/2012.  The three aforementioned correlation are considered as significant and positive valuable. Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk: 1) Mengetahui karakteristik modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dimensi proses; 2) Menguji kelayakan modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dimensi proses; 3) Menguji keefektivan penggunaan modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dimensi proses pada materi Sistem Pencernaan kelas XI. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R & D) mengacu pada model Borg and Gall (1983) yang dimodifikasi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar analisis, lembar observasi, angket, lembar validasi, wawancara, dan tes. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan literasi sains dimensi proses dianalisis dengan N-gain ternormalisasi untuk mengetahui keefektivan modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab), dan uji Wilcoxon untuk mengetahui literasi sains dimensi proses. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dimensi proses pada materi Sistem Pencernaan dikembangkan sesuai dengan tahapan bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) (observasi, manipulasi, generalisasi, verifikasi, aplikasi) dan pendekatan saintifik; 2) Hasil pengembangan modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) layak untuk diterapkan pada materi Sistem Pencernaan. Kelayakan modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) pada materi Sistem Pencernaan berdasarkan validasi ahli memperoleh kategori “sangat baik” dengan persentase 98,21%, validasi praktisi memperoleh kategori “sangat baik” dengan persentase 99,22%, dan responden uji coba skala kecil memperoleh kategori “baik” dengan persentase 77,34%, sehingga layak digunakan kelas XI; 3) Modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) pada materi Sistem Pencernaan efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dimensi proses yang ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji Wilcoxon yaitu diperoleh probabilitas (p) sebesar 0,000 (p < 0,05), H0 ditolak, sehingga ada perbedaan literasi sains dimensi proses sebelum dan setelah menggunakan modul bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) pada materi sistem pencernaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa karakteristik modul berbasis bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) sesuai tahapan bounded inquiry laboratory (lab) (observasi, manipulasi, generalisasi, verifikasi, aplikasi) dan pendekatan saintifik; layak dan efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dimensi proses pada materi Sistem Pencernaan kelas XI.
