Abstract

Abstract: Sinabung eruption in 2010 had led to a sense of trauma for Karo’s District residents, especially the refugees. Disaster relief emergency response was needed in a disaster. This study aims to describe the implementation of disaster communication management at Sinabung in 2010, obstacles of disaster management, and finding alternative of disaster communication management strategy, especially during emergency response. The results indicate the importance of coordination and communication between parties related to disaster communication management. Several problems discovered force the needs for the application of disaster communication management system, especially during emergency response in order to minimize disaster risks.Abstrak: Letusan Gunung Sinabung 2010 telah menyebabkan rasa trauma bagi warga Kabupaten Karo, khususnya para pengungsi. Penanggulangan bencana saat tanggap darurat sangat diperlukan dalam sebuah bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan implementasi manajemen komunikasi bencana di Sinabung 2010, hambatan penanganan bencana, dan menemukan alternatif strategi manajemen komunikasi bencana khususnya saat tanggap darurat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya koordinasi dan komunikasi antarpihak terkait manajemen komunikasi bencana. Beberapa persoalan yang ditemukan mendorong perlunya penerapan sistem manajemen komunikasi bencana khususnya dalam keadaan tanggap darurat untuk dapat mengurangi resiko bencana.

Abstract

Gunung Merapi adalah gunung berapi yang paling aktif di antara 129 gunung berapi di Indonesia. Ada komunikasi dalam penanggulangan bencana untuk mengurangi risiko bencana. Ini disebut Aplikasi Plewangan yang dikembangkan oleh Badan Penyelidikan dan Pengembangan Teknologi Kebencanaan Geologi (BPPTKG). Aplikasi Plewangan akan di realeased 2015 sehingga dibutuhkan dukungan dari pemangku kepentingan utama seperti Kepolisian Sleman, BPBD DIY. Rumah Sakit Dr. Sardjito, Petugas Pelindung, Departemen Kesehatan yang mampu mengoperasikan aplikasinya. Selain itu, Primary Stakeholder seperti warga negara dan akademisi mengetahui tekniknya dan mampu mendapatkan akses mudah ke aplikasi ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun warga perusahaan yang mampu mengatasi bencana. Sasaran khusus dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian pengetahuan, kesadaran akan kebangkitan, dan pengaruh pembuatan kebijakan. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan melakukan wawancara dengan staf BPPTKG, Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (DIY), Petugas Polisi Sleman, dr. Staf Rumah Sakit Sardjito, dan Petugas Departemen Kesehatan. Selain itu, peneliti juga melakukan wawancara dengan akademisi dan warga negara. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah studi pustaka, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Kesiapan Aplikasi Plewangan Plewangan tidak bisa digunakan secara optimal melalui smartphone android, target penontonnya adalah masyarakat Yogyakarta, kesiapan lembaga pendukung seperti BBPTKG sudah siap, media digunakan untuk berbagi informasi dalam bentuk media massa, tradisional, media sosial, dan menemukan model komunikasi untuk Aplikasi Plewangan yang melibatkan Pemangku Kepentingan Utama, Pemangku Kepentingan Premiere, Pemangku Kepentingan Sekunder yang dapat diketahui, tertarik, akhirnya dapat mengakses sehingga fungsi penerapan Aplikasi Plewangan bisa tepat. target dan optimal.

Abstract

Life style and fashion have been inseparable parts of the modern society. Those are not seen from its cover but its essence. Economic and media industrial globalization are factors which form the condition. Nowadays, the new industries, such as mall, fashion, real estate, entertainment industry, food industry etc, continuously grow. Those are followed by the growth of the life style as references for the public those are considered whether it is good or bad, up to date or out of date. Capitalism has influenced not only for women but also men. It has also conquered of religion and carried out of co-modification of religious symbols.

Abstract

Kompetensi komunikasi bisnis lintas budaya sangat diperlukan di era global ini. Kompetensi komunikasi berkaitan erat dengan sudut pandang seseorang tentang sekelompok orang tertentu (stereotip). Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji pengaruh stereotip antaretnik terhadap kompetensi komunikasi bisnis di antara para pengusaha perak Jawa dan Padang di Yogyakarta dan di Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif objektif dengan metode pengumpulan data kuantitatif, serta teknik analisis Structural Equation Model (SEM). Secara keseluruhan hasil penelitian ini memperkuat keberadaan Teori Etnosentrisme, Teori Komunikasi Antarbudaya Gudykuns dan Kim, serta Modell Kompetensi Komunikasi Antarbudaya Spitzberg. Para pengusaha perak Jawa dan Padang saling berkomunikasi dengan melibatkan budaya (nilai-nilai budaya), sosiobudaya (pengalaman antaretnik), dan psikobudaya (prasangka sosial). Model kompetensi komunikasi antarbudaya Spitzberg yang meliputi; motivasi, pengetahuan, dan keahlian berkomunikasi, telah teruji untuk kasus di Indonesia, khususnya pengusaha perak etnik Jawa dan Padang. Penulis berharap keberadaan teori-teorii komunikasi bisnis antarbudaya semakin berkembang di Indonesia.

Abstract

Today, Kulon Progo Regency still face the pro and con problems regarding iron sand mining. The government of Kulon Progo Regency is required to be able to build communication with all parties in solving the problems. This research is aimed at identifying the implementation of public relations role of the government of Kulon Progo Regency in facing iron sand mining case problems in Kulon Progo Regency as well as obstacles faced by the government of Kulon Progo Regency in enacting the role of public relations in dealing with the problems. This research employs qualitative descriptive analysis. The activity of qualitative descriptive analysis is done by processing the data obtained through interview, observation and documentation technique. Based on research results, it is concluded that although Public relations have done its role in the plan socialization of iron sand mining in Kulon Progo Regency, but the false perception held by the society about mining process has not changed yet, it means that the Power Control Theory which is conducted by the Public Relations Of Kulon Progo Local Government is not maximum yet. The obstacles faced by the Public Relations Of Kulon Progo Local Government in dealing with iron sand mining problems in Kulon Progo are first, internal obstacles in the function of public relations which has the position as the dominant coalition in relation to its authority in entering social responsibility, public understanding or two-way communication is not maximum yet, second, a false perception held by the people of southern sea shore upon the process of mining process.

Abstract

An earthquake occurred on Tangerang, Banten around at 3 a.m. Many water debit from torrential rain on Cirendeu village causes broken down of dike which build more or less 10 meters in 1930s. There are 100 people died effect of water knocking more or less 4 meters to citizen housing that was sleeping. Many reactions appeared after that incident, minimum government concern about dike caring becomes topic for Indonesian society at that moment. The result showed that news of broken down Situ Gintung dike at Kompas daily newspaper appears on inside pages (not headline). The informant that often appears in both of daily newspaper was combination between victims and government. News type that used in Kompas was straight news. Coverage type used in Kompas was two sides, while in Jawa Pos was one side. News orientation in Kompas were combination between psychologist and sociologist. Fact collection technique used in Kompas was interview. Combination analysis unit of news characteristic in Kompas was argumentative and descriptive. New dimension in Kompas daily newspaper was combination between social and politic.

Abstract

Fashion and lifestyle had already become part an integral from teenager life society today. Both—no longer essence, however, like packaging. Economy globalization and media industry globalization allegedly is the factor which format that condition. Capitalism is not only succeed embracing young teenage girl, but also the boy. This research aims for reveal the meaning of lifestyle and fashion in Yogyakarta teenager. This research use qualitative method. This research categorized into interpretive social research. Interpretive perspective associated with hermeneutics, that is—a theory about meaning. In method  using semiology of communications analysis. Semiology used for pointed or saying the science of signs. Resource data obtained from observation, interview, and literature. The result of research pointed that the first, self-actualization is the first requirement of human. This is seen, when eating in the best restaurant isn’t survival, but consumed it for self-actualization is the part of  urban middle-class bourgeois empire. Second, meaning of objects is not used as it should, but images of the bourgeoisie who surrounded the stuff. Third, our lifestyle is no longer decisive. Ranging from how to think, how to eat, how to dress, how to behave. Economic globalization and the globalization of media industries are factors that format the condition

Abstract

The method used was the CDA (Critical Discourse Analysis) from the perspective of com- municative event. This research involved the analysis of the relationship between three dimensions: text, the practice of discourse (discourse practice, namely the process of production and consump- tion of text), and sociocultural practices (sociocultural practices, namely the level of society or culture). To dismantle the ideology behind the text, Van Dijk’s framing model was used. The results showed that candidates with high popularity did not necessarily marketable figure for the party. The result of this research confirms that the Brand that is sellable in a place may not be sellable else- where. It depends on who the customers (constituents) and what products to offer. Hence the logic of the market more effectively in the mechanism of political trading became a perspective in analysing celebrity politician phenomenon.

Abstract

Linguistics and communication development in infant can best be understood by tracing the forms and patterns of interaction between a child and other family members especially his/her parents. Father and mother are significant others for a child in developing communication and linguistic capacities. From interview with and observation on families in Poh Roboh, Condong Catur, Sleman Yogyakarta-Indonesia, this research found that the position of parents in the family is important not only for making the relationship better, but also for increasing children’s preparedness for entering the society. Children’s capacities and capabilites in communication  make them emotionally better. There are three imporant positions of familiy in developing a child’s communication. First, parents can increase the capacities and capabilities in semantics, syntactics and pragmatics. These are linguistic dimensions that underlie child’s communication capabilities. Second, parents can be referent for a child in seeking social involvements and social needs. These dimensions can be seen in two forms of interaction: involvement and dependency. Third, parents can be model for a child. For manifestation and involvement in the social interaction, a child imitates and depends on the parents to express his/her emotion. The research concludes that family has important role in enhancing the development of  linguistic and communication competence in infant.

Abstract

General Election 2014 in Indonesia principally was a gate to more democratic Indonesia. People were given rights to directly vote their preferred legislative representatives and president and vice president for the next five-year period. New political learning process was introduced as all presidential candidates must show their capabilities in all aspects to attract constituents. The role of mass media became important as each candidate worked hard to gain sympathy from people. This paper examines how Indonesian online news media critically reported the presidential candidates. Further, this paper analysed how the issue were represented in the online media and why it was represented in such ways.
