Abstract

Abstract This study is aim to identify improving student’s reading skill using jigsaw. Whether jigsawcan improving students ability in reading skill. The research method used in this research is Qualitative Method and Classroom Action Research as a design.The subject of this study were 32 students of the tenth gradesin one of SMK in Bandung Barat. There were seven encounters covered on those two periods; three encounters were for tests, and the other four encounters were for doing treatment. The treatment was teaching reading skill, especially in reading Narrative text, with the used of Jigaw method.The instruments used in this research were observation, interview, field notes and tests. The tests were used to test the students on pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2. The tests given subsisted of 10 items in the form of find out the structure of Narrative text and Comprehenison questions based on the text. This research aims at improving reading ability by using jigsaw method in understanding generic structure, language feature and kinds of narrative text. Through two periods, three tests and four treatments, the teaching and learning process is done and run very well in the year of one SMK in Bandung. As shown in the data above that the increase in score almost reaching KKM is 6.5 while the specified KKM is 7.0. Keywords:Reading, Jigsaw, classroom action research

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to figure out the significant improvement and achievement of Collaborative Approach in teaching speaking. The method of this research is quantitative method. The population was the tenth grade students of SMAN 2 Padalarang and the sample was consisted of 30 students of tenth grade students. The instruments were pretest-posttest. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistic. The t test data score was 0.000. The score was less than 0.05. So the null-hypothesis was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a significant improvement and achievement of Collaborative Approachin teaching speaking. In the other words that collaborative approach can develop the students’ ability of critical thinking, creativity, sincerity, formulating question, self confidence and communication skill. Problem solving and self reflection. The students’ difficulties in speaking is difficult in pronunciation, afraid of making mistakes, mother tongue used, lack of vocabulary and lack of curiosity.

Abstract

Speaking has important role in real life situation because related with oral communication activity, based on that situation teacher should give the best treatment and set the appropriate condition where the students have a big opportunity to learn what students need which is speaking ability. The Research activity was conducted at Kabupaten Bandung in one of the senior high schools, with 27 students of tenth grade as a subject of the research. This article shows the implementation of animation video in speaking class with the aim to know the student's responses after receiving the treatment. The research employed descriptive qualitative research as a way to show the result of the research. The result also shows the responses of students after receiving the animation video as media of learning activity, through observation sheet result, the table of students’ responses toward animation video and the description from interview activity. Keywords:  Animation Video, Speaking

Abstract

The research titled the Influence of Internet Technology on The Development of Teaching  And Learning Methods For Students is aimed to easier learning process at the class with studets. Information and communication technology are fenomenal and the beginning of the emergence of a web application is the internet. Internet which originated from research to defense and security as well as educational support tolls business evolved into a very influential. This is also encouraging to provide internet service facility. Students who have signed up to can do anything, including transaction log, learn, etc. with the technology services can solve the problems facing employes who leave in especially for those who work while studying or courses. Internet is very important to considered the problem learning and teaching. The purpose of the study is intended to obtain data and information on the effect to the use internet and browser for educational programs. The results of this study found that the role of information technology an education, in addition to helping students in learning also had a quite influentialrole for teachers, especially in the use of facilities to end rich teaching skills and guidance for the development of science and technology n order to strengthen in iprove human well – being.

Abstract

AbstractIn this research used qualitative research method, qualitative research is “a situated activity that locates the observer in the world. It consist of set of interpretive, material practices that make the world visible. These practice transform the world and in this research would be find out how speech and grammar used by Fathia Izzati and Nessie Jedge in the video of Cara Berbahasa Inggris dengan Lancar. In this research, finding the conclusion from video cara berbahasa inggris by Nessie Jedge and Fathia, there are many word used in their conversation its like anaphoric, textual theme, reference, topical theme and comparative reference. Abstract

Speaking is a part of language and one of important skills that should be learned by the students. Role Play is offered to overcome the problems in speaking. In fact, The Students face difficulties in speaking such as difficulty to arrange the sentences, fear or making mistakes, and lack of motivation The aim of this research was carried out to find the effectiveness of using Role Play in teaching speaking for second grade of junior high school at MTs Nurul Falah Kota Cimahi whether there is significance different in speaking achievement of the students who are taught without using a role play. The use of Role Play does not increase the students’ speaking skills. Alternative Hypothesis says that the use of Role Play increases the students’ Speaking skill. This research use Quantitative Method by SPSS for collecting the data The subject of the study were 33 students and the sample of population collected from second grade in junior high school. From the result of the analysis the students’ score of speaking is improve. Abstract

The central topics of pragmatics, this study is limited on applying deixis on speech Ridwan Kamil at the Asia Africa Conference (KAA). This research deals with the English deixis. The objectives of this study are to analyze type of deixis and to find out the most dominant type of deixis in “Ridwan Kamil’s speech  at Asia Africa Conference (KAA)” on April 24th 2015. This study was conducted by using qualitative approach. From the five type of deixis, in Ridwan Kamil’s speech found that there are three types of deixis, namely person deixis (7 data) time deixis (3 data), and the last is social deixis (1 data). From the analysis of deixis, it was also revealed that person deixis as the most dominant type which was found on speech Ridwan Kamil at the Asia Africa Conference. Keywords:  Deixis, Asia Africa Conference (KAA), Speech

Abstract

Abstract Speaking is kind of communication that human needs to give same understanding of mind and works. The term of ‘speech’ has meaning to give some explanation from speaker to audience with many intention from the speaker based on their speech. The speech of Donald Trump at his first state on the january 2018 giving some explanation about the condition in USA today. This research giving the information about the use of conjunction: elaboration in Donald trump speech. The research goal to give some explanation about the types of conjunction and the meaning inside of it. This research used qualitative with the method have been used by the writers is textual analysis method as supported by Frey, et al. The analysis of data show us the precentage of subtype of conjunction: elaboration that Donald trump’s use at his speech are Expository 60%,  Exemplifying 8%, Corrective 8%, Particularizing 8%, Resumptive 8%, Verifactive 8%. Donald Trump used appositive so often rather than using clarification on his speech. It means he is less doing clarification to have understanding between him and the audience

Abstract

The aims of this research is to know that using off record strategies, people can make a relation with other people. To communicate their ideas in social interaction, human beings frequently use an indirect expression. Whenever people want to communicate for a specific information or provide as much of  that information as possible, they show to express it indirectly, so there is a gap between what is said and what is delivered, that kind of communication provide a small part of an account of how people can communicate well by using indirect language with other (Yanti, 2017). The writer choose title “An Analysis of Animation  Movie ‘Ratotouille’ that Reflecting the Politeness of Off Record Strategies.” This movie tell about a rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family’s whises and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. The writter chooses qualitative method, using informal method (collecting data, analysing data, and presenting the result).

Abstract

One of English skills which is important to be mastered by the students’ is writing skill. Writing is a creative and expressive process. Students need to explore their ideas and compose into a good text. The objectives of this research is to find out types of error and the most dominant error writing using simple present tenses in a descriptive text made by the seventh grade students of MTs Asih Putera. The research design is qualitative design. The data were gathered from students’ test as a document analysis. Then, the researcher analyzed, classifying errors the students’ work based on types of errors by Dulay (1982). For calcuting the data, the researcher used one formula to know percentages errors. The result of this research, showed that there are 73 items of errors which occur in students’ sentence. It is found that 42 items or 57,53% errors are omission, 10 items or 13,70% are addition, 16 items or 21,92% are misformation, and 5 items or 6,85% are disordering. The conclusion based on the research result data, most student were made error in using simple present tense in a descriptive text, especially was ommision errors.
