Abstract

Practical activities during the covid pandemic are difficult to do because all learning has turned to online learning. So that students are required to carry out independent practicum at home, even though laboratory equipment and materials are quite expensive and difficult to obtain. A breakthrough is needed so that the practicum can still be carried out. One of them is independent practicum using simple equipment and materials. Independent practicum is implemented in basic chemistry courses during the odd semester. However, reflection on the practicum is needed to identify motivation and an opinion from student. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted on students of the Chemical Education Study Program, University of Lampung. Data was collected by using a questionnaire through a Mentimeter. The results showed that (1) students were highly motivated to participate in independent practicum because it was interesting, (2) students' perception of independent practicum is very good, this is shown by the number of students who are helped in understanding the concept of chemistry after doing independent practicum, (3) the obstacle experienced by students during independent practicum is the difficulty of signaling in some areas which causes the upload of independent practicum videos to be often late. This research is relevant and can be a practical breakthrough for both lecturers and teachers who have limited laboratory equipment and materials by loosening the collecting of practicum videos.

Abstract

Chemistry practicum is still only concept verification or is a cookbook. This study aims to develop student worksheets on producing jelly as a colloid product by using perdu cincau leaves (Premna Oblongifolia). The method used in this study is development research with ADDIE models (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), which only done until development step. Analysis curricula of colloid topic and study of literature on project-based practicum and perdu cincau leaves have been carried out at analysis step. At this step also interviewed high school teachers and found that there is no student worksheets for supporting KD 4.15. At design step, the experiment of jelly producing using perdu cincau leaves was optimized and the best laboratory work design was obtained, such as materials, tools and procedures. Then, a project-based laboratory worksheet draft was created and validated by experts. Based on the suggestions given by the validator, content number 11 was omitted because it contained irrelevant instructions. Content number 2 added instructions. Content number 15 and 16 an explanation is added. Content number 3, 4 and 12, it is necessary to edit sentences. After revising, student worksheets is ready to be implemented in learning activities.

Abstract

Students face difficulties visualizing abstract molecular geometry concepts because current teaching materials lack 3D modeling support. To overcome this, this research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective Google Sites-based e-module for learning molecular geometry. This study applied the Research and Development (R&D) method using Thiagarajan's 4D model. Data collection instruments included expert validation questionnaires, teacher perception surveys, student response questionnaires, pretest-posttest assessments, and learning observation sheets. The e-module's feasibility was assessed by expert lecturers and chemistry teachers. Practicality data were gathered through chemistry teachers' perceptions, observer sheets, and questionnaires from 31 eleventh-grade students. Effectiveness data were collected involving the same 31 eleventh-grade subjects. Expert validation results showed average percentage s of 87.73% for media and 86.5% for material, indicating the e-module is valid with "very high" criteria. During the limited trial phase, teacher and student perceptions scored 90.5% and 85.73%, demonstrating the e-module's practicality with "very high" criteria. The product's effectiveness in learning is evidenced by an average student N-gain score of 0.54 (moderate category). Based on these results, the developed e-module is declared feasible, practical, and effective for use as an educational medium.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of understanding of elementary school teachers and students on the essence of Natural Sciences (IPA) in the 21st century learning era. The focus of the research is directed at the three main dimensions of the essence of science, namely scientific knowledge, scientific processes, and scientific attitudes, as well as their relationship with the level of interest in science. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with the population of all teachers and elementary school students in several schools in the research area. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling techniques, involving a total of 88 teachers and 263 students from the upper classes of elementary schools in 4 provinces in Indonesia. The research instruments are in the form of a questionnaire on understanding the essence of science and an interest questionnaire on science, which has been validated by experts and tested for reliability using the Cronbach Alpha coefficient. The results of the study show that the level of understanding of teachers and students on the essence of science in general is in the medium category. Teachers show a good understanding of aspects of scientific attitudes, such as honesty, hard work, and scientific responsibility, but are still weak in understanding the tentative, subjective, and limited nature of science. There was also a difference in tendency based on gender, where male teachers had a slightly higher understanding of the essence of science than female teachers, while female students showed a better understanding than male students. In addition, interest in science has a positive effect on understanding the essence of science. These results confirm the importance of Nature of Science (NoS)-based learning and teacher training that are oriented towards strengthening science literacy as well as the development of contextual learning strategies to foster students' scientific interests and attitudes in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Atomic model development is considered an abstract topic, making it difficult for students to understand. One approach to facilitating the visualization of these concepts is the use of an Augmented Reality (AR)-assisted e-module. This study aimed to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of an AR-assisted e-module on atomic model development concepts for tenth-grade senior high school students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), which was limited to the Develop stage. Product validity was assessed through evaluations by material and media experts. Practicality was measured using teacher perception questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and learning implementation observation sheets. Effectiveness was determined based on the N-gain score. The research participants were students of class X.1 at SMA Negeri 1 Abung Semuli. The results showed that the e-module achieved validity percentages of 90.75% from material experts and 90.00% from media experts, both categorized as very valid. The practicality assessment yielded percentages of 96.20% from teachers, 89.85% from students, and 89.28% from learning implementation observations, all categorized as very practical. The effectiveness of the e-module was indicated by an N-gain score of 0.43, which falls into the moderate category. Based on these findings, the developed AR-assisted e-module is considered valid, practical, and effective, making it suitable for use as a chemistry learning medium on atomic model development concepts.
