Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah atas yang berada di Bandar Lampung, perbedaan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris antara sekolah negeri dan swasta, penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris dalam jurusan IPA dan IPS. Peneliti menggunakan desain t-test dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa ada perbedaan dalam penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah atas yang berada di bandar lampung. Hasil dari penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan dalam penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris antara sekolah negeri dan swasta. Hasil yang terakhir juga menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Inggris dalam jurusan IPA dan IPS yang di tunjukkan dalam nilai rata-rata siswa jurusan IPA 3250 lebih besar dibandingkan nilai rata-rata siswa jurusan IPS 2794,5.The purpose of this study was to determine students vocabulary of English vocabulary size in high school located in Lampung, difference vocabulary size between public and private schools as well as in science and social studies department if there is a difference also. Researcher use t-test design in this study. The result of the research show that there is a difference between students vocabulary size in senior high school, there is a difference between students vocabulary size in public school and private school, there is a difference between students vocabulary size in science and social science students also. The data shows that the average value of 3250 students majoring in science is greater than the average value of 2794.5 Social Sciences students.Keywords: matching format, vocabulary size, word definition.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk menemukan apakah ada peningkatan signifikan secara statistik atas pemahaman siswa terhadap penggunaan tense setelah pembelajaran; (2) tipe tense dan (3) jenis kalimat yang lebih dikuasai siswa sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan pola one group pretest-posttest. Data penelitian diperoleh menggunakan tes grammar yang disajikan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa (1) pemahaman siswa terhadap tense meningkat signifikan setelah diajar menggunakan lirik lagu yang dimodifikasi; (2) siswa lebih menguasai simple present dan (3) kalimat nominal sebelum dan sesudah diajar menggunakan lirik lagu yang dimodifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa lirik lagu yang dimodifikasi adalah media yang baik untuk mengajar tenses.The aims of this study were to find out (1) whether there was statistically significant improvement of the students achievement on tenses after they were taught through modified song lyrics; (2) which type of tenses and (3) which type of sentences they mastered better before and after getting the treatment. This research was quantitative study which employed one group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected through grammar test in form of multiple choice. The findings revealed that (1) the students achievement on tenses was significantly improved after they were taught through modified song lyrics; (2) they mastered simple present tense better than simple past tense and (3) nominal sentences better than verbal sentences before and after being taught through modified song lyrics. Hence, it obviously indicates that modified song lyrics is a good media to improve the students achievement in using tense.Keywords: tenses, nominal and verbal sentences, modified song lyrics.

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mencari tahu (1) ada atau tidaknya peningkatan secara signifikan dalam pencapaian berbicara siswa dengan menggunakan permainan hidden object sebagai sebuah medium dalam mengajarkan monolog deskripsi, dan (2) respon siswa dalam implementasi permainan hidden object. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas sepuluh SMA. Pola penelitian ini adalah one group pretest-posttest design. Paired samples t-test digunakan untuk menguji nilai siswa. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan secara statistik oleh permainan hidden object terhadap pencapaian berbicara siswa dengan tingkat signikan (0.000.05). Para siswa juga memberikan respon positif terhadap implementasi permainan hidden object. Berdasarkan hal ini, dapat dikatakan bahwa permainan hidden object mempermudah siswa untuk meningkatkan pencapaian berbicara.The research was conducted to find out (1) whether the hidden object game as a medium in teaching descriptive speaking has a significance effect to increase speaking achievement, and (2) how the students responses to the implementation of the hidden object game. The subjects were 36 students of first grade students of senior high school. The research design was one group pretest-posttest design. Paired samples t-test was used to test the students scores. The result showed that there was a statistically significant effect of the hidden object game on the students speaking achievement with significant level (0.000.05). The students also gave positive responses of the implementation of the hidden object game. This suggests that the hidden object game facilitates the students to improve their speaking achievement.Keywords: Hidden object game, descriptive speaking, students response.

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this research were to found out the improvement of the students' writing achievement before and after the implementation of scaffolding and also to found out what aspects of writing improved the most after the implementation of scaffolding at SMA N 1 Sendang Agung. The subject of this research was students of eleventh-grade (class XI IPA 1) in the academic year 2020/2021. This research was conducted virtually through Google Classroom. This research was a quantitative research and the method was one group pretest and post-test design. The analysis of SPSS 20 shows that there was an improvement of students' writing ability after the implementation of scaffolding. Beside, based on seeing the analysis of students' worked in pre-test and post-test on each aspect of writing, it could be found that content was the aspect that increased the most than other.Keyword: scaffolding, writing, online classes.doi: https://dx.doi.org/10.23960/UJET.v10.i4.202104

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara siswa antara kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi. Control group pretest posttest design adalah desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi dengan level signifikansi (0.0040.05). Teknik clamshell memiliki hasil peningkatan nilai yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan teknik grup diskusi. Sehingganya, dapat disarankan bahwa mengajar berbicara melalui teknik clamshell dan teknik grup diskusi membuat siswa menjadi lebih aktif.This research was aimed to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students’ speaking ability between those who were taught through clamshell technique and those who were taught through a small group discussion. Control group pretest posttest design was used in this research. The data were obtained from pre-test and post test. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the students who were taught through clamshell technique and small group discussion with the significant level (0.0040.05). The increase of posttest and pretest of clamshell technique is higher than a small group discussion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknik talking chipmeningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalahpenelitian kuantitatif. Tes berbicara digunakan sebagai instrument pengambilandata. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 70 siswa kelas sebelas pada siswa sekolahmenengah atas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik adapeningkatan yang signifakan dalam peningkatan berbicara siswa setelah siswadiajarkan menggunakan teknik talking chip. Penelitian ini menyarankan bahwateknik talking chip memfasilitasi siswa untuk meningkatkan pencapaian.The aim ofthis study was to find out whether the use of talking chip techniqueimproved the students speaking ability. The approach of this study wasquantitative. Speaking tests were used as the instrument to elicit the data.Thesubjects of this study were 70 second grade students of senior high schoolstudents. The result showed that there was a statistically significant improvementof studentsspeaking achievement after the students were taught through talkingthe chip technique. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan signifikan dari kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah pembelajaran melalui teknik bermain peran. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 2 SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung-bintang. Desain pre-test dan post-test satu kelompok digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Nilai rata-rata dari pre-test adalah 57.13 dan post-test adalah 82.46. Skor siswa meningkat dengan signifikan karena p0.05 (p=0.000). Berdasarkan data, ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan dari pencapaian siswa dalam kemampuan berbicara sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran melalui teknik bermain peran. The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant improvement of the students' speaking ability after being taught through Role Play. The population of this research was the Second year students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung-bintang. One group pre-test and post-test design was used. The mean score of pre-test was 57.13 and post-test was 82.46. It proved that the students' scores increase significantly because p0.05 (p=0.000). Based on the data, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference of students‟ achievement in speaking ability before and after being taught through Role Play technique. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah teknik Collaborative Strategic Reading dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa, dan aspek apa yang paling dipengaruhi oleh teknik ini. Peneliti menggunakan desain pretest dan posttest dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan berupa peningkatan dalam kemampuan membaca siswa. Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata membaik dari 57.58 (pretest) ke 69.42 (posttest). Menentukan ide pokok mendapatkan kenaikan tertinggi dimana jumlah nilainya meningkat dari 87 (pretest) ke 114 (posttest). Dapat dikatakan bahwa teknik Collaborative Stretegic Reading dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa dan menentukan ide pokok menjadi aspek yang paling dipengaruhi.The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Collaborative Strategic Reading technique can improve students' reading ability, and what aspects are most influenced by this technique. Researcher used a pretest and posttest design in this study. The result of the research shows that there was a difference in the form of an increase in students' reading ability. The data shows that the average value improved from 57.58 (pretest) to 69.42 (posttest). Determining main idea got the highest increase in the average value from 87 (pretest) to 114 (posttest). It can be said that the Collaborative Strategic Reading technique can improve students' ability to read and determining main idea is the most influenced aspect.Keywords: collaborative strategic reading technique, determining main idea, reading

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada peningkatan secara signifikan pada pencapaian berbicara siswa menggunakan gambar berseri. Data diperoleh dari pre-test, post-test dan wawancara siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan secara statistik pada pencapaian bicara siswa. Data yang didaptkan dari hasil pretest dan posttest. Hasil nya menunukkan bahwa ada peningkatan secara signifikan dengan tingkat signifikasi 0.000.05. Disarankan bahwa picture series memfasilitasi siswa dalam meningkatkan pencapaian berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris.This research was aimed at finding out whether there is statistically significant increase of students speaking achievement after the students were taught through picture series.
