Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari i) apakah ada peningkatan pada keterampilan pemahaman membaca siswa setalah diajarkan menggunakan teknik pre-questioning dan ii) persepsi siswa pada teknik ini. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 25 siswa pada kelas delapan di MTs Negeri 3 Lampung Selatan. Reading comprehension dan kuesioner digunakan untuk pengambilan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan membaca siswa dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.05. Para siswa menunjukkan berbagai persepsi terhadap teknik ini, kebanyakan dari mereka menunjukkan persepsi yang positif. Hal ini menandakan bahwa teknik pre-questioning memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan pemahaman membaca dalam bahasa Inggris dengan.The aims of this study were to find out i) whether there was statistically significant improvement of the students reading comprehension achievement after the students were taught through pre-questioning technique and ii) the students perception of the technique. This research was quantitative and qualitative research. The subjects of this research were 25 students of the eighth grade in MTs Negeri 3 Lampung Selatan. Reading comprehension tests and questionnaires were used to collect the data. The result showed that there was statistically significant improvement of the students reading comprehension achievement with the significant level of 0.05. In addition, most of them perceived that pre-questioning technique is a good technique. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) menemukan tipe kosakata siswa yang meningkat setelah diajarkan melalui metode Silent Way, dan (2) menemukan masalah apa yang dialami oleh siswa ketika siswa diajarkan menggunakan metode Silent Way dalam pengajaran kosakata. Data didapat melalui tes kosakata dan observasi, dan diolah menggunakan The One-Shot Case Study. Hasil test menunjukan bahwa siswa memperoleh nilai tertinggi pada noun. Jumlah nilai yang didapat oleh noun adalah 67. Siswa memperoleh nilai tertinggi pada noun dibandingkan dengan verb (38.734.8). Berdasarkan data observasi, peneliti menemukan masalah yang dialami siswa, yaitu siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan rendah dalam penguasaan Bahasa Inggris masih mengalami kebingungan dalam mengikuti pelajaran. Mereka bingung dalam menentukan respon mereka apakah sudah benar atau belum dalam pelajaran tersebut.The objectives of the research were: (1) to find out students’ vocabulary type that improved after being taught by using Silent Way, and (2) to find out what problems the students faced when taught using Silent Way in teaching vocabulary. The data were collected by using vocabulary test and observations, and were computed by using The One Shot-Case Study. The result of the test showed that the students got the highest score in noun. The total score of noun was 67. The students got higher increase in noun than verb (38.726.5). Based on the observation data, The researcher found a problem that the students of low level of English mastery were still confused to follow the lesson. They were confused to find out whether their response was already correct or not.Keywords: silent way, vocabulary, young learner

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan pada kemampuan siswa dalam pemahaman membaca teks naratif setelah belajar menggunakan strategi CSR. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian ini adalah 34 siswa tingkat kedua di SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung. Tes membaca digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Analisis data menggunakan paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan pada kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks naratif dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.000.05. Dapat disarankan bahwa pengajaran membaca menggunakan strategi CSR dapat membantu siswa untuk menemukan infromasi pada teks dengan mudah.The aim of this research was to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students reading comprehension ability of narrative texts after the students were taught through CSR strategy. Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of this research were to find out significant improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement and students’ responses through the implementation of the Riddle Game technique. This research was conducted in the first year of SMP IT Bustanul ‘Ulum in 2019/2020 academic year. The sample of this research was class VII F which consisted of 24 students. The researcher started the class by giving the pre-test. In the following meeting, the researcher gave three meetings of treatments. The posttest and the questioner were given in the last meeting. The researcher used T1 x T2 as the design and analyzed the data by using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The result showed that: first, there was a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary achievement after the implementation of Riddle Game. It could be seen from their means score of the pretest was 63,125 and the mean score of the posttest was 81,25 higher than the pretest score. Furthermore, the result also saw that the increase of the noun was 6,4 while the verb was 5,3, adjective 2,8, and adverb 3,3. Thus, the improvement of the noun was higher than four types of content words. The second result was indicated Riddle Game could be a fresh strategy, which can attract the students’ interest in learning English vocabulary. It showed from out of 24 students, 22 students have a positive response with a percentage of 94.7%. Even 5.3% of students have negative responses; they got a significant score in the pretest. This result proves the Riddle Game technique could be an effective way to help the students’ vocabulary achievement. Keywords: vocabulary, Riddle Game, achievement, response.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis masalah yang dihadapi siswa ketika belajar mendengarkan dengan diskusi kelompok dan aspek keterampian mendengarkan yang lebih baik dari keterampilan yang lain. Penelitian kualitatif ini dilakukan di kelas VIII F. Peneliti memeroleh data melalui kuesioner, pre-test dan post-test. Data dianalisa dengan cara menginterpretasi, menghitung nilai rata-rata dan membandingkan nilai siswa antara keterampilan macro dan micro di pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat lima masalah utama yang dihadapi siswa yaitu, mengobrol saat berdiskusi, teman yang tidak berkontribusi, teman yang mendominasi, teman kelompok, tidak ingin menjadi ketua kelompok. Kesimpulannya, masalah dalam diskusi disebabkan oleh kondisi diskusi yang tidak mendukung dan keahlian makro bisa tampil lebih baik karena adanya schemata di proses top-down.The aims of this research were to analyse the problems faced by the students when studying listening in group discussion and to analyse which particular aspect of listening skill performed better than the other skill. This qualitative research used class VIII F. The researcher gained the data from questionnaire, pre-test and post-test. The data were analysed by interpreting, calculating the average, and comparing of students’ answer both macro and micro-skills in pre-test and post-test. The results showed that there were five major problems faced by students they were: chatting another topic while discussing, not-contributing member, dominant friend, group-mate, willingness to be a leader of discussion. In listening skills, the students performed better in macro-skills than in micro-skills. In conclusion, problems in discussion can be caused by the imperfect condition of discussion and macro-skills can perform better because of the existence of schemata in the top-down process.Keywords: group discussion, listening, macro and micro-skills

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan pada tingkat pencapaian keterampilan berbicara siswa setelah diajarkan menggunakan teknik Mingle Game. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu 36 siswa kelas XI IPA 5 SMAN 1 Bandar Lampung. Test keterampilan berbicara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data mengenai pencapaian keterampilan berbicara siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada pencapaian keterampilan berbicara siswa antara pre-test dan posttest setelah penggunaan teknik Mingle Game dengan tingkat signifikansi p0.05 (p=.000). Hal ini menandakan bahwa teknik Mingle Game dapat membantu siswauntuk meningkatkan pencapaian keterampilan berbicara dalam bahasa inggris.The aim of this study was to explore if there is a significant difference of students speaking achievement after they were taught by using Mingle Game. The research used a quantitative method. The subjects were 36 second grade students of class IPA 5 at SMAN 1 Bandar Lampung. Speaking tests were employed to collect the data of the students speaking achievement. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference of the students speaking achievement between the pre-test and the posttestafter the implementation of Mingle Game technique with the significant level p0.05 (p=.000).This suggests that teachingspeaking through Mingle Game technique facilitates the students to improve their achievement in speaking.Keywords: mingle game technique, speaking achievement, teaching speaking.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan pada kemampuan siswa dalam kemampuan pemahaman membaca teks naratif setelah belajar melalui strategi story grammar. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 33 siswa kelas tiga di SMP Al-Huda Jatiagung. Tes membaca digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Analisis data menggunakan Paired Sample T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya perbedaan signifikan pada kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks naratif dengan tingkat signifikansi 0.000.05. Dapat disarankan bahwa strategi story grammar memberikan siswa latihan yang konsisten yang dapat membantu mereka dalam mengorganisir informasi dari teks bacaan.The objective of this research was to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students reading comprehension ability after they were taught through story grammar strategy. This research was quantitative. The subjects of the research were 33 students at the third grade of SMP Al-Huda Jatiagung. The instrument used was reading comprehension test. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apakah ada efek signifikan dari penerapan choral reading pada pembelajaran pelafalan konsonan Bahasa Inggris. Dalam penelitian ini, desain yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan one group pretest posttest. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII E di SMPN 1 Raman Utara tahun ajaran 2013-2014. Peneliti menggunakan tes pelafalan pada pretes dan postes dalam bentuk kata tunggal untuk sepuluh konsonan Bahasa Inggris. Analisis data menggunakan t-test untuk mengukur tingkat signifikansi antara pretes dan postes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa pada pretes adalah 11.15 dan pada postes 15.5, di mana peningkatannya adalah sebesar 4.35. Selain itu, dari hasil perbandingan antara pretes dan postes mencapai p=0.00 serta t-hasil 8.065 lebih besar dari t-tabel 2.093. Dari hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa teknik choral reading membawa efek yang signifikan pada pelafalan konsonan Bahasa Inggris siswa.The objective of the research was to find out whether choral reading technique brought a significant effect on students’ English consonant pronunciation. This research used quantitative design with one group pretest posttest design. The subject of the research was students of VIII E class as the second year students of SMPN 1 Raman Utara in academic year 2013-2014. The researcher used pronunciation test in form of isolated words for ten English consonants. The data was analyzed by utilizing t-test to prove the significance between pretest and posttest. The result showed that the mean score of students pronunciation in pretest as many as 11.15 while in posttest as many as 15.5 where the increase as many as 4.35. In addition, the value of p=0.00 also the t-value 8.065 was higher than t-table 2.093. From the result of data analysis, it can be stated that choral reading technique gives a significant effect on students’ English consonants pronunciation.Keywords: choral reading, effect, english consonant, pronunciation.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah Lagu Populer Bahasa Inggris dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa, dan aspek apa yang paling dipengaruhi oleh lagu populer bahasa Inggris sebagai media. Peneliti menggunakan desain pre-test dan post-test dalam penelitian ini. Setelah meneliti siswa kelas X di SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung, ditemukan bahwa ada peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan berbicara siswa. Data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata membaik dari 41,5 (pretest) ke 64 (posttest) dengan nilai signifikansi 0.000 dan tanda ? (0,000 0,05). Kosakata mendapat kenaikan tertinggi dimana nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 9,5 (pretest) sampai 13 (posttest). Dapat dikatakan bahwa Lagu Populer Bahasa Inggris dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa siswa dan kosakata menjadi aspek yang paling dipengaruhi oleh lagu populer bahasa Inggris sebagai media.The purpose of this study was to determine whether Popular English Song can improve students speaking ability, and what aspect was most influenced by popular English song as media. In this study, the researcher used one group pre-test and post-test design. After doing research on X grade students at SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung, it was found that there was a significant improvement in their speaking ability. The data shows that the average value improved from 41.5 (pretest) to 64 (posttest) and the significance value 0.000 and a ? (0.000 0.05). Vocabulary got the highest increase in the average value from 9.5 (pretest) to 13 (posttest). The results showed that the Popular English Song can improve students speaking ability and vocabulary is most influenced by popular English song as media.Keywords: song, speaking, vocabulary.
