Abstract

Abstract This research aims to describe students' mathematical connection ability based on their reflective cognitive style. This is a qualitative descriptive research involved eighth graders of State Junior High School of 20 Jambi in the academic year of 2020/2021. The subject was two students determined using purposive sampling technique who represented reflective cognitive style and were in accordance with the teacher's considerations. The essay test material to measure the mathematical connection ability is those that students had learned which are the two-variable linear equation material. The mathematical connection ability test instrument consists of three items, each of which contains one indicator. The test instrument to measure students' reflective cognitive style was the Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT) invented by Jerome Kagan. The MFFT instrument in this study was adopted from Warli (2010). The result showed that students’ mathematical connection ability viewed from students’ reflective cognitive style was in the good category.  Students have fulfilled at least two out of three mathematical connection ability indicators: students were able to connect certain topics and other topics. and connect mathematical concept into daily life.  Keywords: Mathematics; mathematical connective ability; reflective cognitive style.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) which learning model that supports students’ creative thinking ability whether discovery, CORE, or conventional learning model, 2) which model that supports creative thinking ability the most to high, moderate, and low level students, 3) know if there is interaction between learning model and students’ logical mathematical intelligence, and creative thinking ability. This is a quasi-experimental research with the population of eighth graders of junior high schools in Madiun Regency. The research design used a group pretest-posttest control design. The sample was determined using stratified cluster random sampling. This research uses two-way unequal ANOVA. This research concluded that 1) students’ creative thinking skill is developed better using Discovery than CORE and conventional learning model, 2) students with high logical mathematical intelligence have higher creative thinking ability than those with moderate and low logical mathematical intelligence,3) there is no interaction between learning model and logical mathematical intelligence with creative thinking ability. Keywords: Creative Thinking; Learning Model; Logical Mathematical Intelligence. Abstract

The production process is included in the Discrete Event System (DES). The DES independent variable generally depends on the event, so an event is influenced by the previous event. Max-plus algebra can be applied in the DES problem to change the system of nonlinear equations obtained into linear equations. Max-plus algebra is a set of real numbers combined with equipped with operations max and plus ⊗ or can be denoted with . An effective and efficient production process needs to pay attention scheduling steps well. The purpose of this research is to determine the Shuttlecock T3 production schedule using eigenvalue and eigenvector in max-plus algebra. The research method in this research is study of literature and observation. Literature study is carried out by studying references about max-plus algebra, especially material related to scheduling problems, while observation are carried out in the process of taking data of the Shuttlecock T3 production process in Surakarta. The linear equation system that is formed based on the results of the observation is then presented in the form and . The periodic time and initial system production time are determined from the eigenvalue and eigenvector matrix where . The results of the research showed that the production system run periodically every 249 minutes, then the best time for each processing unit to start working can be determined, as well as the Shuttlecock T3 production schedule according to the working hours more effective and efficient can be determined too.

Abstract

Student problem-solving is fundamental in mathematics because, in problem-solving, students can explore the subject by applying the concepts to real-world problems. NHT is one of the learning models where students can work together to solve problems and an effective method to encourage students to become more involved and think critically. This study aims to determine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together learning model on problem-solving 101 students in class X SMA Negeri Punung in 2022/2023. The research method used is pseudo-experimental research because researchers want to know the effect of the NHT model on student problem-solving. Data analysis using Anava showed that the significance value <0.05. The anava results showed an effect of the learning model on students' problem-solving ability. After further testing, there is a difference in the average value of students subjected to NHT treatment higher than students subjected to TPS and conventional treatment. Based on the study results, the NHT model is more effective in improving students' problem-solving ability in class X SMA Negeri Punung in 2022/2023.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted by the Pure Mathematics & Application Research Group of the Mathematics Department, FMIPA UNS, with the aim of increasing the profits of ornamental plant and local specialty product SMEs in Nglurah Village, Tawangmangu District, Karanganyar Regency. The partner in this activity is the Farmers and SMEs Association located in Nglurah Village, Tawangmangu. The main issues faced by the partner are a lack of knowledge in modern business management, branding, and digital marketing, resulting in low product competitiveness in an increasingly competitive market. The solution offered includes intensive training on product processing, branding strategies, and digital marketing. The community service was implemented through a workshop attended by 30 participants, followed by a one-month mentoring period. The methodology included a participatory approach in needs assessment, theoretical and practical training, and direct mentoring in field implementation. The results showed significant improvements in participants' understanding of business management and their ability to utilize digital media for marketing. Several participants reported increased product visibility in online markets. This program is expected to have a long-term impact on the development of SMEs in Nglurah Village.
