Abstract

The blended learning was a learning model that combines offline and online learning. There are two types of blended learning models used in this research, namely the flipped classroom model and the station rotation model. In these models, the teacher would use WhatsApp as a media for online learning. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of blended learning models on mathematical creative thinking skills and math anxiety of public junior high school students in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province. The research method used was quasi-experimental by sampling using stratified cluster random sampling techniques. There were three schools selected as research samples, namely Mojolaban 1 Public Junior High School, Mojolaban 2 Junior High School, and Grogol 3 Public Junior High School. The data collection used a written test and questionnaires methods which were carried out after the treatment was given. The data analysis technique used a one-way multivariate analysis of variance. This research shows that the blended learning models were better than the direct learning model on mathematical creative thinking skills, but judging from the magnitude of math anxiety, the direct learning model was better than the station rotation learning model.

Abstract

One of the efforts to realize the vision and mission of the Government Islamic Junior High School 2 Surakarta (MTS N 2 Surakarta) to be one of the best schools at the national level is by participating in MYRES (Madrasah Young Researcher Super Camp), which conducted annually by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion. The school have participated in this event several times, but unfortunately, the result still needs improvement. After conducting a self-evaluation, there found some possible aspects that caused this situation. The lack of knowledge and experience in conducting research and writing academic articles of the teachers who became students’ supervisors indicated the main problem that caused this situation. Based on this situation, the Government Islamic Junior High School 2 Surakarta (MTS N 2 Surakarta), in collaboration with the Contemporary Mathematics Education Research Group of the Mathematics Education Department, Sebelas Maret University, has conducted intensive training for academic writing to be submitted to MYRES competition. This program was conducted for three months, from April to June 2022. This program comprised of some activities, a workshop on academic writing with a keynote from Yogyakarta State University, continued by intensive training conducted online and offline. Ten proposals resulted from this program, ten were submitted to MYRES, and two of the proposal finally can compete until the semifinal stage.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is the basis for students to fully understand learning in the 21st-century era. The low mathematical literacy ability of students in elementary schools reduces the quality of education and participation of students in everyday life. Therefore, there is a need to develop learning modules to increase student literacy. Using an ethnomathematics-based teaching module with the RME approach is one solution. The goal of this development research is to create teaching modules that can improve the mathematical literacy of fifth-grade s elementary school students. The research subjects were students and teachers of fifth-grade elementary schools in Petanahan District. Observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests are used as data collection methods. Both qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis were used to process the data. The results showed that the validation was rated as very good category by linguists 93.8%, material 94%, and design experts 92%. According to students responses, the practicality level falls within the 87.65% very good category. The effectiveness of the teaching module on mathematical literacy can be seen from the significance level 0.000 0.05, teaching module has a positive effect on improving mathematical literacy of fifth-grade  students in elementary school. So, the ethnomathematics-based teaching module with a realistic mathematics education approach to improve mathematical literacy is valid, practical, and effective. Research and development of this ethnomathematics-based teaching module has been proven effective only in Petanahan District, it needs to be tested for effectiveness in a wider population so that it can be used more widely. Other researchers can develop similar teaching modules by taking ethnomathematics in other areas.

Abstract

This research was conducted at SDN Balerejo 02 Madiun as a Driving School and SDN Garon 02 Madiun as a Driving School. The research approach applied is qualitative research with a case study design. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by applying a descriptive qualitative interactive model approach through the steps of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion: drawing/verifying. The research results show that the implementation of the Calistung program in phase A at Driving Schools and Imposing Schools is carried out by providing additional hours after teaching and learning activities on certain days. The implementation of the Calistung program uses contextual/real learning methods accompanied by several reading books, letter cards and number cards. The teacher also provides books that students are interested in as reading sources, introducing numbers using basic arithmetic operations. The obstacles to implementing the Calistung are difficulties in providing learning media, the use of inappropriate methods, and various types of assessments. Another obstacle is the lack of availability of suitable books.
