Abstract

The blended learning was a learning model that combines offline and online learning. There are two types of blended learning models used in this research, namely the flipped classroom model and the station rotation model. In these models, the teacher would use WhatsApp as a media for online learning. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of blended learning models on mathematical creative thinking skills and math anxiety of public junior high school students in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java Province. The research method used was quasi-experimental by sampling using stratified cluster random sampling techniques. There were three schools selected as research samples, namely Mojolaban 1 Public Junior High School, Mojolaban 2 Junior High School, and Grogol 3 Public Junior High School. The data collection used a written test and questionnaires methods which were carried out after the treatment was given. The data analysis technique used a one-way multivariate analysis of variance. This research shows that the blended learning models were better than the direct learning model on mathematical creative thinking skills, but judging from the magnitude of math anxiety, the direct learning model was better than the station rotation learning model.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the mathematical representation ability of students with sequential and random thinking styles in solving HOTS-based mathematical problems. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The instrument that used in this research is the main instrument (researcher) and supporting instrument (questionnaire, test, and interviews). The data collection was carried out by online due to the Covid-19 pandemic conditions which made it impossible to collect the data directly. The data analysis techniques of research are reduction data, presentation data, and drawing conclusions.. The subjects of this study were four students with CS, AS, CR, and AR thinking style. The results of research showed that students with a concrete sequential thinking style were able to meet the indicators of visual, symbolic, and verbal mathematical representation abilities. Students with an abstract sequential thinking style are able to meet the indicators of visual and verbal mathematical representations. Students with a concrete random thinking style are able to meet the indicators of visual, symbolic, and verbal mathematical representation abilities. Students with abstract random thinking style are only able to meet the indicators of visual mathematical representation ability in solving HOTS-based mathematical problems.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is an individual's ability to formulate, use, and interpret mathematics in a variety of contexts. Mathematical literacy ability in context dimension is divided into four, namely personal context, educational and work context, social context, and scientific context. This study aims to describe the mathematical literacy ability of high school students in the context of education and work. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of the study were three grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Sragen with low, medium, and high initial mathematical ability categories. The research instruments used were tests, interviews, and researchers. The data collection methods used in the study were the test method and the interview method. Validation of the data used is the triangulation method. The results of the tests and interviews were then analyzed using indicators of mathematical literacy ability to obtain data on mathematical literacy skills in solving problems. The results showed that the students' mathematical literacy skills were low, medium, high in the context of education and work were low. In the case of mathematical literacy in the context of education and work, students with low, medium, and high early mathematical abilities have the ability to interpret problems, apply simple procedural problem solving strategies but have not been able to fulfill the ability to represent different and different answers and communicate solutions.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is the basis for students to fully understand learning in the 21st-century era. The low mathematical literacy ability of students in elementary schools reduces the quality of education and participation of students in everyday life. Therefore, there is a need to develop learning modules to increase student literacy. Using an ethnomathematics-based teaching module with the RME approach is one solution. The goal of this development research is to create teaching modules that can improve the mathematical literacy of fifth-grade s elementary school students. The research subjects were students and teachers of fifth-grade elementary schools in Petanahan District. Observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests are used as data collection methods. Both qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis were used to process the data. The results showed that the validation was rated as very good category by linguists 93.8%, material 94%, and design experts 92%. According to students responses, the practicality level falls within the 87.65% very good category. The effectiveness of the teaching module on mathematical literacy can be seen from the significance level 0.000 0.05, teaching module has a positive effect on improving mathematical literacy of fifth-gradeĀ  students in elementary school. So, the ethnomathematics-based teaching module with a realistic mathematics education approach to improve mathematical literacy is valid, practical, and effective. Research and development of this ethnomathematics-based teaching module has been proven effective only in Petanahan District, it needs to be tested for effectiveness in a wider population so that it can be used more widely. Other researchers can develop similar teaching modules by taking ethnomathematics in other areas.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical problem-solving ability of Pisa-like level 1 and level 2 students with a visual learning style based on the Krulik-Rudnick step. This research is a qualitative research conducted at Baki 2 Junior High School in the Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2021/2022. The research subjects were three grade VIII students with visual learning styles selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, written test and interviews. Questionnaires are used to determine students’ learning styles, meanwhile the written test and interviews were used to determine students' problem-solving abilities. Method triangulation is used to measure the validity of the data between the written test and interviews. The data obtained is then analyzed with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that at level 1, students can fulfill the indicators at all stages of the Krulik-Rudnick step. While at level 2, students can only fulfill the indicators at the Read and Think and Explore and Plan stages.

Abstract

Student problem-solving is fundamental in mathematics because, in problem-solving, students can explore the subject by applying the concepts to real-world problems. NHT is one of the learning models where students can work together to solve problems and an effective method to encourage students to become more involved and think critically. This study aims to determine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together learning model on problem-solving 101 students in class X SMA Negeri Punung in 2022/2023. The research method used is pseudo-experimental research because researchers want to know the effect of the NHT model on student problem-solving. Data analysis using Anava showed that the significance value <0.05. The anava results showed an effect of the learning model on students' problem-solving ability. After further testing, there is a difference in the average value of students subjected to NHT treatment higher than students subjected to TPS and conventional treatment. Based on the study results, the NHT model is more effective in improving students' problem-solving ability in class X SMA Negeri Punung in 2022/2023.
