Abstract

Red meranti wood dust is one of the wastes generated from the plywood industry. Red meranti wood dust contains 55.2% cellulose. The cellulose content can be converted to carbon through carbonization process. To increase the absorption capacity, the carbon is activated chemically and physically into active carbon. Active carbon can be used as an absorbent and purifying agent in the chemical industries, food or beverage, pharmaceutical, and as a catalyst. This study aims to find out the effect of the H3PO4 concentration in producing active carbon. The carbonization is done using pyrolysis proess at a temperature of 500C for 2 hours. The the carbon is chemically activated using H3PO4 activator with concentration variation of 1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, 6%, and 7.5% for 24 hours, and physically activated in the furnace at a temperature of 900 C 1 hour. The best result is in the 1.5% H3PO4 concentration, with1,9558% water content, 2.3140% ash content, 5.0900% volatile matter content, and 820.99 mg/g iodine absorption.

Abstract

Green mussels (Perna viridis) are a type of processed water from a fairly high percentage of production. The high consumption rate is followed by the high amount of residual processing waste produced, namely in the form of shells. Unfortunately, mussel shell is a waste that is not used optimally. In the shells, there are a lot of mineral content, which when processed many benefits will be obtained. Clamshells have been studied to contain a fairly high source of the mineral calcium. This study is preliminary research focused on determining the ability of green mussel shell calcium powder to reduce iron levels in standard solutions with concentrations of 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mg / L. The results obtained from this study are the calcium content of green clamshells in the form of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) with calcium reaching 34.93% Wt and can be used properly to reduce iron metal levels.

Abstract

The starter motor is one of the most important components in the electrical system. This study was conducted to determine the damage to the electrical system of a heavy equipment unit.  The object under investigation is the starter motor on the planetary type Caterpillar 3306 engine. The method used in this study is library research which consists of collecting data from the Service Information System (SIS), Operation Maintenance Manual (OMM), and various modules related to the object of study. field observation by carrying out disassembly of the object is continued with a visual inspection and ends with measurements that will be compared with standard data. The results of this study show that the measurement results for speed are obtained 5169 rpm with standard specifications 7643 (out spec), on solenoid winding components for pull in resistance 0.5 ohms with standard specifications 0.43-0.49 ohms (out spec), hold in resistance 0.6 ohms with standard specifications 1.37-1.77 ohms (out spec), the field winding components 0.1 ohms with standard specifications 0.1 ohms (in spec),  x- and y-axis armature components are 51.9 mm each with a standard specificity of 52.0 mm (in spec), Commutator (in spec)

Abstract

Dalam pengoperasian alat berat banyak hal dan aspek yang harus diperhatikan, mulai dari ketrampilan dan skill operator, prosedur pengoperasian alat, aspek keselamatan kerja dan aspek perawatan dan troubleshooting. Keberhasilan Pelaksanaan program Kegiatan Pelatihan fundamental engine system dapat dilihat dari beberapa tolak ukur yakni respon positif dari peserta pelatihan yang diukur melalui observasi langsung dan pendekatan persuasif dengan mengadakan diskusi, tanya jawab dan presentasi terhadap peserta, meningkatnya keterampilan peserta setelah mendapat pelatihan fundamental engine system. Pelatihan fundamental engine system ini diikuti oleh 10 peserta yang ada disekitar kampus yakni warga kelurahan Harapan Baru Kecamatan Loa Janan Ilir, Samarinda. Pelatihan fundamental engine system ini selain diajarkan perawatan komponen alat berat dengan pemahaman mengenai fundamental engine system juga diajarkan tentang keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja ditempat pelatihan. Selama Pelaksanaan Program Kegiatan Pelatihan fundamental engine system mulai dari tahap persiapan sampai tahap pelaksanaannya, dapat kami sampaikan temuan-temuan sebagai berikut antusiasme peserta pelatihan fundamental engine system untuk masyarakat Kelurahan Harapan Baru Kecamatan Loa Janan Ilir Samarinda sangat baik, dengan diadakannya pelatihan ini dapat membantu masyarakat yang nantinya akan digunakan sebagai bekal untuk mencari kerja dan berkompetisi dengan yang lainnya.
