Abstract

Organizational change is a phenomenon that must be faced and carried out by every individual to achieve organizational goals. Organizational change is required by every organization to maintain its existence amid competition and as a tool to achieve organizational goals. In addition, organizational change aims to improve the performance to be better. This study aims to create changes in school organization by analyzing the factors that influence better organizational change. This study was qualitative research which analyzes literature reviews related to organizational change. Considering the data analysis, this study used library research to examine the literature related to organizational change. This research was conducted on research results, library books, documents, and information contained on the internet. The data collected in this study were analyzed qualitatively by considering the research objectives. The results showed that the changes in school organization were caused by political practices,  organizational learning, organizational culture, and  principal leadership. The results showed that the changes in school organization were caused by political practices, organizational learning, organizational culture, and principal leadership. Therefore, leadership greatly influence the factors that can bring about organizational change.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop an English module for Business Administration Department students. This research is a research and development or Research and Development. The learning product that will be developed is an English learning module to improve student competence with an outcome-based education approach. The trial product was then evaluated by several parties, including expert and lecturers. Based on the results of the group test, there is an effect of developing students' English skills using the English for Business Administration module with those who do not use the module. And after a comparison test was carried out between class A and class B (experimental class) it was found that the English language skills of business administration students were better, both in terms of reading and vocabulary, listening comprehension, writing skills and speaking fluency. Thus, the English for Business Administration module is able to overcome the problems that have been faced by business administration students in terms of mastering business administration English.

Abstract

Universities all around the globe have been working hard on internationalization to improve the quality of education, students, and alumni, along with the demand of a more dynamic world. Universitas Brawijaya (UB), as one of the renowned campuses in Indonesia, has also implemented the internationalization strategy to realize its vision and mission as a World Class, Entrepreneurial University. As part of the internationalization strategy, UB runs a “3 in One” program involving visiting professors from universities abroad, practitioner lecturers, and internal lecturers in education, research, and community service activities. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the “3 in One” program, emphasizing lecturers’ perspectives as program implementers. We employed a mixed-method study with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The research population was all lecturers involved in the “3 in One” Program. Samples were chosen using stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire adapted from (a) the Guidebook of World Class Professors by the Directorate General of Resources for Science, Technology, and Higher Education of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and (b) the Term of Reference (TOR) of the 2019 “3 in One” Program of UB, Student Evaluation of Educational Quality (SEEQ), and (c) semi-structured interviews. It is expected that our findings could become a reference for stakeholders of UB to evaluate and improve the program. In addition, the findings could also become a creative reference for the government and other universities in Indonesia to adopt a similar program according to institutional needs.

Abstract

Internationalization has been promoted in many universities worldwide to improve education management, students, and alumni within the dynamic era of globalization. Universitas Brawijaya (UB), as one of the leading universities in Indonesia, is also implementing the internationalization strategy to realize the mission and vision as a World Class Entrepreneurial University. One of the efforts in the internationalization strategy is the “3 in One” Program that involves visiting professors from foreign countries, practitioner-lecturers, and internal lecturers in the implementation of education, research, and community service. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the “3 in One” Program in UB by emphasizing students’ perspectives as service users of university services or UB services. The study was qualitative using a survey method. The population was all students in study programs that have joined the “3 in One” Program. Samples were chosen using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire adapted from Student Evaluation of Educational Quality (SEEQ) and semi-structured interviews. Findings showed that 212 respondents (87.6%) knew that the “3 in One” Program involved a visiting professor, a practitioner-lecture, and a lecture from UB. It is expected that UB could improve its socialization of the concept of the “3 in One” program within the study programs or UB’s lecturers and to students. The study programs are expected to have better preparations to minimize language barriers in the “3 in One” Program. The study programs and the university are also encouraged to conduct regular evaluations on the “3 in One” Program.

Abstract

Berbagai perguruan tinggi di Indonesia beramai-ramai menggelar program-program yang berkaitan dengan peningkatan wirausahawan baru di antara mahasiswa. Hal ini salah satunya berdasar pada masih rendahnya peringkat Indonesia di Global Entrepreneurship Index bila dibandingkan dengan negara-negara tetangga. Universitas Brawijaya (UB), sebagai salah satu PTN terkemuka di Indonesia, dengan visi menjadi world-class entrepreneurial university, telah secara konsisten menggelar Program Mahasiswa Wirausaha (PMW). Hanya saja, jumlah mahasiswa lulusan PMW yang masih menjalankan kegiatan usahanya tidak sebanding jumlahnya dengan jumlah keseluruhan peserta PMW dari tahun ke tahun. Dalam kajian ilmu Administrasi Bisnis, PMW berkaitan dengan kajian tentang inkubasi bisnis yang bertujuan untuk melatih dan mendampingi wirausahawan baru dalam mendirikan usahanya. Oleh karena itu, pengusul ingin mengetahui pelaksanaan PMW di UB dengan mengambil data dari perspektif mahasiswa yang mengikuti PMW. Responden dalam penelitian ini akan disuguhkan pada beberapa item pertanyaan dalam sebuah kuesioner yang menanyakan pendapat mereka tentang keberadaan fasilitas yang seharusnya ada di dalam sebuah inkubator bisnis. Temuan pada penelitian ini memiliki implikasi untuk mengelola pengaruh dari program pendidikan kewirausahaan yang diadakan oleh universitas dapat mendorong siswa memiliki orientasi menjadi berwirausaha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa lebih cenderung memilih untuk berwirausaha atau pada saat kuliah dapat menjalankan bisnisnya sendiri. Program pendidikan kewirausahaan dapat mengindikasikan setiap komponen sikap (Afektif, Perilaku, dan kognitif) memiliki pengaruh yang cukup besar terhadap niat berwirausaha siswa. Ditemukan juga bahwa pendidikan kewirausahaan memainkan peran penting dalam membina dan mempromosikan kegiatan kewirausahaan pada siswa di ruang lingkup universitas. Sehingga penelitian ini berimplikasi berdasarkan temuan tersebut sangat relevan dengan proses penetapan kebijakan perguruan tinggi, pembuat kebijakan, praktisi, dan instansi terkait dalam konteks pengembangan kewirausahaan. Pengetahuan ini berpotensi memandu lembaga pendidikan dan pembuat kebijakan untuk mengembangkan strategi yang dapat dipahami untuk memajukan kewirausahaan

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of knowing, describing and analyzing the role of Public Relations (PR) of Brawijaya University in the Era of Higher Education Legal Entities (PTN-BH). Researchers want to know the role of PTN BH Public Relations in the city of Bandung as a communication facilitator, mediator and communication technician in the implementation of information disclosure policies. Researchers used a descriptive study with qualitative data types. Data collection was carried out using the method of literature study or literature review. The findings from this study indicate that Public Relations of Universitas Brawijaya has carried out its role. However, there are some things that require improvement to make it better. Therefore, the researcher suggests that UB's Public Relations should increase its evaluation activities regarding information disclosure, socialize the obligation to open information to the internal and external public and increase meetings that invite various parties both internally and externally UB to overcome the obstacles faced by UB's Public Relations.

Abstract

Persoalan pemulihan ekonomi pasca bencana erupsi Gunung Semeru menjadi perhatian para pemangku kepentingan dalam hal ini pemerintah untuk mendapatkan solusi cepat dan tepat agar berdampak secara langsung untuk masyarakat. Masyarakat di Candipuro Kabupaten Lumajang yang terkena dampak signifikan letusan semeru terhadap lahan pertanian. Berdasarkan citra data satelit yang dirilis Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana pada tahun 2021 bahwa lebih dari 161,5 hektar lahan pertanian hancur di Lumajang. Akibat keterbatasan lahan pertanian tersebut, sangat efektif dalam aplikasi greenhouse di area sekitar warga yang tidak produktif sebagai potensi baru. Keunggulan dari greenhouse adalah tanaman dapat tumbuh dan produksi sepanjang tahun secara kesinambungan tanpa banyak dipengaruhi oleh musim, kualitas hasil tanam yang lebih terjamin, penggunaan pupuk dan pengairan yang lebih efisien, resiko serangan hama dan ancaman penyakit tanaman yang lebih rendah. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut maka kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat melalui budidaya tanaman unggul dengan membangun unit greenhouse, pelatihan instalasi dan budidaya sampai pendampingan pemasaran hasil panen. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi tiga metode yakni Sosialisasi, Penyuluhan dengan Teknik Participatory Rural Appraisal dan Pendampingan. Hasil pelaksanaan program pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa antusiasme kelompok tani sangat tinggi, bahkan sampai dengan proses pemanenan masyarakat proaktif terhadap program yang diinisiasi oleh ketua melalui kegiatan Doktor Mengabdi yakni pembuatan greenhouse dengan sistem irigasi tetes pada tanaman melon dan paprika. Bahkan kegiatan pemberdayaan ini berhasil menjadi pelopor bagi kelompok tani lain untuk membangun greenhouse melon dan paprika hidroponik. Kata kunci: Bencana, greenhouse, hidroponik, melon, paprika, pemberdayaan masyarakat. ABSTRACT The issue of economic recovery after the eruption of Mount Semeru has become a concern for stakeholders, in this case the government wants to get a quick and appropriate solution so that it has a direct impact on the community. Communities in Candipuro, Lumajang district, were significantly affected by the Semeru eruption on agricultural land. Based on satellite data released by the National Disaster Management Agency in 2021, more than 161.5 hectares of agricultural land were destroyed in Lumajang. Due to the limited agricultural land, it is very effective in greenhouse applications as a new potential in unproductive areas. The advantages of the greenhouse are that plants can grow and produce throughout the year in a sustainable manner without being much influenced by the season, the quality of crop yields is more guaranteed, the use of fertilizers and irrigation is more efficient, the risk of pest attacks and the threat of plant diseases is lower. Based on this background, this community service activity aims to recover the economy through optimization of superior plant cultivation by building greenhouse units, installation and cultivation training to marketing assistance for crops. The implementation method used in this activity includes three methods, namely Socialization, Counseling with Participatory Rural Appraisal Techniques and Mentoring. The results showed that the enthusiasm of the farmer groups is very high, even up to the proactive community harvesting process for the program initiated by the chairman through Community service for doctoral degrees activities, namely making greenhouses with drip irrigation systems on melon and peppers plants. In fact, this empowerment activity has succeeded in becoming a pioneer for other farmer groups to build hydroponic melon and peppers greenhouses.
