Abstract

Kata-kata Kunci: kualitas hunian, paska bencana, analisis faktual, analisis perseptual SCORING METHOD OF THE QUALITY OF POST DISASTER HOUSING AS RECONSTRUCTION STRATEGY’S EVALUATION : FACTUAL AND PERCEPTUAL ANALYSIS APPROACHOne of post disaster recontruction’s main targets is providing proper housing for the victims who lost their homes. In post-disaster housing procurement there are various reconstruction strategies. This research discusses about ability to rate the quality of housing in evaluating the reconstruction strategy. Scoring method of the quality of housing, factually or perceptually, both are explained as preface. And then comparation of previous study about the quality of post disaster housing is discussed. From this research it learned that scoring of the quality of post disaster housing is an effective way to evaluate the reconstruction strategy. The scoring method of the quality of post disaster housing itself, can be seen from different approaches, the factual analysis approach, the perceptual analysis approach, or both, depends on the chosen study object. Keywords: quality of housing, post disaster, factual analysis, perceptual analysisREFERENCESAl-Hussaini, T. Abstract

Abstract: Sudimoro Village is one of the villages that suffered from the eruption of Mount Merapi in October 2010. Over time, Sudimoro has become a potential space to learn about disaster mitigation and about the use of bamboo as a sustainable building material. Geographically, Sudimoro is surrounded by many developing tourist destinations, in the west there are Elo Progo River Rafting and Mendut Temple, on the east side there is Gunungpring Cemetery. This village has the potential as a strategic Hybrid Space to connect all tourist points as tourist magnets, to support urban development. After 10 years, the temporary bamboo shelter in Sudimoro village began to be gradually developed by residents into a tourist village. Apart from preserving the historical value of the Bamboo Shelter and increasing the socio-cultural and local ecological values, the use of bamboo buildings is also a strategy for the sustainability of the Bamboo Shelter’s existence. In this paper, the author aims to make a comparison of the position of Sudimoro village compared to other tourist villages, as well as an assessment of Sudimoro's potential to become an urban tourism development area with the Hybrid Space approach.

Abstract

Architectural form is a physical manifestation of culture as it acknowledges and responds the surrounding cultural context. Religious architecture also belongs into this principle. In Indonesia, the encounter between Islam coming from foreign Muslim merchants and the high culture of indigenous people fostered a process of cultural assimilation, which was also evident in the physical appearance of religious architecture products such as mosques. Demak Mosque, one of the earliest examples of this process, was completed during the period of nine pioneering Islamic scholars (Walisongo) c. 1401 AD and adopted the traditional tiered tajug roof from Pura (Balinese Hindu temple) and some other principles based on Hinduistic values. This paper set out to observe the process of cultural assimilation in form and construction of six mosques in the area of Muntilan, Central Java by comparing them to Masjid Demak, and to understand whether the alterations found in these mosques were done due to changes in religious values. The results show that most mosques have similar-looking exterior to Masjid Demak while there were increasing amount of alterations in newer mosques, mainly to improve the mosques’ functionality.

Abstract

In Indonesia, a bamboo slanted ceiling is one of the most commonly used types of ceiling. It occurs for numerous reasons, including technical and cultural aspects. However, practically, it has low durability and is difficult to maintain as it is used in place which is prone to rainwater seepage and installed in the form of large woven sheet material. Therefore, in this research, three alternative models of construction for a bamboo slanted ceiling were proposed: (1) one layer of dense bamboo slats, (2) two layers of dense bamboo slats; and (3) two overlapping layers of sparsely weaved bamboo slats. Each model was developed on a real scale prototype and tested in terms of its material’s temperature and humidity level. The construction strategies used for these models were focused on the arrangement and orientation of pieces of ‘Bambu Kuning’ within the roof structure. The measurement result shows that the third model had the lowest temperature with >5°C different compared to the other models during the hottest hour of the day (from 9 AM to 3 PM). Then, in terms of the humidity measurement, data shows that the second model had the lowest humidity measurement with 1.93% different compared to the first model and 1.22% different compared to the third model. Furthermore, other potential benefits of the proposed models are also presented.
