Abstract

The production of precast spun piles generates solid and liquid waste products. The solid waste consists of stone, sand, and mud materials, while the liquid waste consists of K-600 grade concrete cement mixed with water. It is poured into a 1m3 container and solidifies within 3 hours. The production process of precast concrete piles is fast, which results in quick waste accumulation in the factory area. This research aims to transform the waste into paving blocks suitable for road construction. The Taguchi method is employed to determine the optimal strength of the paving blocks using three variables: (1) the ratio of solid to liquid waste in three levels - 70:30%, 60:40%, and 50:50%, (2) mixing time in three levels - 5, 10, and 15 minutes, and (3) curing time in three levels - 3, 7, and 14 days. The strength of the paving blocks is tested by measuring the maximum compressive strength. The results indicated that the best combination for achieving maximum compressive strength was using (1) a 50%:50% ratio of solid to liquid waste, (2) a curing time of 14 days, and (3) a mixing time of 5 minutes, resulting in a maximum compressive strength of 125.72 Kg/cm2. It is equivalent to Grade D paving blocks that are suitable for road application.

Abstract

The size of the material test specimen determines the accuracy of the material characteristics. This research was conducted to obtain the optimal tensile test specimen size by optimizing the cut parameters on the VZ-400 SA cutting machine. The material used is SNI 07-2054-2007 standard angled steel with a thickness of 5 mm. Optimization of machine parameters was carried out using the Taguchi method to measure the effect of work table speed (mm/s) and saw blade speed (m/min) on the response to the width of the rectangular cutting product. Cut width limit between 34-36 mm. Data was collected by conducting experiments 9 times with 3 replications. The results showed that the factor that most influenced the size of the width of the cut was the speed of the work table with a contribution of 86.49%, while the speed of the saw blade was 1.64% with an error of 11.87%. The optimal size of the test specimen is produced from the table speed parameter of 2 mm/s and the saw cutting speed of 90 m/min. Cutting validation was conducted in triplicate, and the result showed an average plate width of 34.7 mm with an error of 0.02.

Abstract

3D printing of free-form objects presents inherent complexity due to their organic and intricate shapes. Designers engage with such objects, considering a range of factors including aesthetics, engineering viability, and ergonomic comfort. This research is focused on achieving the most effective printing parameters for a free-form object utilizing the Digital Light Processing (DLP) technique within a 3D printer. Within this study, a squeezed hexagonal tube-shaped CAD model was employed as an experimental subject, following the principles of the Response Surface Method (RSM). The research delved into the optimization of printing parameters, particularly layer thickness and exposure time, to enhance the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the free-form model. Two levels were established for each factor: layer thickness was set at 0.06 mm (low) and 0.08 mm (high), while exposure time was tested at 6 s (low) and 8 s (high). The assessment of surface quality involved a qualitative evaluation employing a digital microscope to identify potential defects and imperfections in the print outcomes. The investigation culminated in the identification of the optimal printing parameters: a layer thickness of 0.0753 mm and an exposure time of 7.2143 seconds. This achievement not only enhances the understanding of 3D printing variables in the context of intricate free-form models but also contributes to the broader field of additive manufacturing parameter optimization.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aimed to identify person-organization (P-O) fit, person-job (P-J) fit, job satisfaction, and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Methodology – A quantitative method was adopted through an online survey applied to 323 respondents who were healthcare employees in Banten Province. The data obtained was later analyzed using Structural Equation Model (SEM) Amos. Results – The results showed that P-O fit positively correlated with job satisfaction and OCB. Moreover, P-J fit had a positive effect on OCB. Job satisfaction also had a positive effect on OCB. The implication is that managers need to focus on ensuring a connection between organizational values and those held by healthcare professionals to achieve job satisfaction. There is also the need for management to emphasize ensuring the skills and abilities of healthcare professionals are in line with job roles in order to improve job satisfaction. Originality – The novelty of this research was in the simultaneous examination of both P-O fit and P-J fit in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the combined influence on OCB and its dimensions. Furthermore, a novel exploration of the underlying psychological mechanisms was introduced based on social exchange theory to explain how perceptions of fit motivated employees to engage in OCB.
