Abstract

Berdasarkan teknologi pemasakannya cara penggunaan energi selama ini pada beberapa jenis industri tahu disinyalir belum efisien. Penelitian dilakukan pada 4 produsen tahu yang masing-masing menggunakan teknologi pemasakan berbeda, yaitu; tungku tunggal, tungku ganda, ketel uap horizontal, dan ketel uap vertikal. Metoda deskriptif analisis digunakan untuk mengkaji rasio masukan-luaran energi. Energi masukan adalah tenaga kerja manusia, energi bahan bakar, energi yang sudah terbentuk, dan energi bahan, sedang energi luaran adalah energi tahu, dan energi ampas tahu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total input energi tertinggi sebesar 19.005,05 kJ/kg tahu terjadi pada ketel uap vertikal dan terrendah sebesar 6.026,80 kJ/ kg tahu pada tungku tunggal. Tingginya konsumsi energi untuk mengoperasikan ketel uap vertikal terjadi karena ia bekerja di bawah kapasitas normal. Kata kunci : audit energi, industri tahu, ketel uap, tungku

Abstract

Java contributes 63.7% of national sugar production, in which 55.6% is produced by the farmer from 312,973 ha of sugarcane area (65.6% of Indonesia’s cane crop area). Farm labor in Java was very limited in the past two decades, so was needed mechanization. Howeveer, the size of agricultural machines were not accordance with the size of land, the limited of spares, and was not optimally managed. This research aimed to calculate operational cost of farm machinery (hand tractor) on the cane cultivation activities up to 6-month cane growth period. This study was carried out at Comal, Center of Java at alluvial land 8 mdpl and at Pasuruan, East Java at alluvial 10 mdpl. From each location, 2 plots of 0.1 ha were observed. The treatments were manual and machine cultivation with 3 replications. The observed agrotechnical parameters were the bud emergence, number of stalk, clump, stalk height and diameter, and operational cost of using machinery. The agrotechnical result using t-test (95% confidence rate) showed no significance among treatments. Other results revealed that using machinery for fertilizing, soil heaping up, and soil moving (gulud) in Pasuruan can substitute manual daily worker (HOK) for 6 HOK, 12 HOK and 20 HOK, respectively, using tractor by 7 hours/day. Meanwhile in Comal, using machinery for fertilizing, soil heaping up, and soil hilling up (gulud) can substitute manual daily worker (HOK) for 9 HOK, 16 HOK, and 20 HOK, respectively. The cost analysis indicated the 35.54% reduction of using machinery compared to the manual expense. This study revealed that the machinery could substitute the manual worker for cane cultivation.

Abstract

Salah satu tahapan yang paling banyak membutuhkan tenaga dan waktu pada kegiatan pengolahan sagu adalah proses peremasan/ekstraksi. Untuk menanggulangi hal tersebut, sudah dihasilkan beberapa prototipe alat pengekstrak pati sagu, Namun peralatan/mesin pengolahan sagu tersebut masih memiliki beberapa kekurangan, diantaranya kontruksinya yang begitu besar sehingga belum sesuai dengan sasaran masyarakat pedesaan petani sagu, pengoperasiannya yang sulit, dan belum bersistem kontinyu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan prototipe alat/mesin ekstraksi pati sagu tipe pengaduk berulir bertenaga motor bakar dengan kontruksi yang sederhana, mudah serta kontinyu dalam pengoperasiannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap, dimana menggunakan kombinasi perlakuan volume air untuk medium ekstraksi dan jumlah proses ekstraksi. Variabel yang diamati dalam uji kinerja alat adalah kapasistas ekstraksi, rendemen pati yang diperoleh, serta persentase pati tertinggal dalam ampas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh mesin ekstraksi pati sagu tipe pengaduk berulir dengan kontruksi yang sederhana dan bekerja secara kontinyu. dan dari hasil pengujian kinerja ditentutkan perlakuan yang paling efektif adalah volume air 350 liter dengan 1 kali proses ekstraksi dimana memiliki kapasitas ekstraksi 508,37 kg/jam, rendemen pati yang diperoleh 17,21% dan pati tertinggal dalam ampas sebanyak 2,96%.Kata kunci: pati, sagu, ekstraksi, mesin, ulir

Abstract

The decrease in sugar productivity was due to insufficient process of the sugar production process such as the low efficiency of boiler machine input energy. This study aims to analyze the potential use of Bagasse Briquetting Fuel (BBF) made from sugarcane milling waste at PT Madubaru as an attempt to obtain the optimal efficiency of boiler machine. Analysis of the effect of the adhesive concentration on the BBF quality was carried out to determine the optimal composition of the use of adhesive materials. Economic analysis was also conducted to determine the economic potential of BBF development. The analysis revealed that the BBF from Sugarcane milling waste has Calorific Value of 17,367-19,497 KJ/kg and density of 0.740-0.915 g/cm3. BBF with an adhesive variation of 1.25% is the BBF with the highest efficiency because it meets the needs of boiler fuel with the least amount of 100.8 tons/day for the operation of 1 boiler machine. The development of BBF from sugarcane milling waste has a selling value of Rp1.390.5,-/kg much lower than the existing biomass fuels found in the market. Keywords: Bagasse briquetting fuel; Boiler machine; Energy efficiency; Renewable energy; Sugarcane milling waste.
