Abstract

In the recent thinking of integrating technology into our educational systems, the quote from Prensky“Today’s students are no longer the people our educational system was designed to teach”, could bring a new horizon when we are, as a teacher, designing  the lesson plan and methods. The role of technology in the 20th century’s in education is undoubtedly brings a major impact on the paradigm of how the teaching activity should or should not be done in accordance to the newest culture, and to implement the newest technology into our teaching activities should be the most critical question to put in mind at present. It is accurately phrased that the role of books and teachers cannot be replaced by technology, but the one who refused to implement the technology will be replaced by the one who adapt. The previous method of teaching is already obsolete and inadequate to be used as the mind-set of the recent educational culture and the people involved inside it is evolving terrifically, therefore, opening our mind to the previously unthinkable way of thinking could be the key to evolve our education.Keyterms: Digital nativeness, technology and media

Abstract

Second language (L2) pedagogy and second language acquisition (SLA) have acknowledged the significant role of learning strategies. It, then, suggests the significance of learning strategies in second language learning or, even, acquisition, especially helping students be better learners. With regard to this, a community service project is proposed to implement this SBI in SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Malang. The students’ problem in speaking ability seems to derive from lacks of knowledge about oral communication strategies (OCSs). Therefore, the project team plans to implement an SBI which is mostly the combination of OCSs and metacognitive model. The project implementation falls into four meeting with the focus described as follows (1) Introducing OCSs and metacognitive training model, (2) Employing help-seeking strategies and modified interaction strategies through conversation tasks, (3) Employing modified output strategies and  time-gaining strategies through conversation tasks and (4) Employing maintenance strategies and self-solving strategies through conversation tasks. Abstract

English has been taught in early years of school and become one of the main course in the school based on the need of global society while not every school is able to offer the course due to the lack of qualified teachers. The evaluation needed in the learning process face a difficulty in which due to the lack of qualified teachers, is only capable of doing test and not evaluation. Based on the phenomena, this research is conducted to find a new method of evaluating English course by using language tools software that can be used by non-English teacher in accurate and valid evaluation and projected to modernised evaluation process in English course and able to support distance learning. The research employs quantitative analysis in a series of four data collections and analyses involving four participants over the time of 3 months. This research is further supported by language analysis from language expert as a secondary instrument to validate the result of the analysis from the main instrument, P_LEX language tools. The result of the research shows that language tools is valid as a supporting device for evaluating language performance as the result of the language analysis is in parallel to the analysis of language expert.

Abstract

This community service initiative was designed to address these issues by providing targeted training and mentoring for elementary school teachers in the development of engaging, interactive, and curriculum-aligned bilingual digital modules. The program was implemented using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. Initial assessment results revealed that the teachers' competencies prior to the intervention were at a moderate level, with average scores across indicators ranging from 2.5 to 2.9. The intervention began with face-to-face training workshops on bilingual digital module development, followed by an online mentoring phase to support teachers in completing their modules. Evaluation at the final stage showed that the teachers’ competencies improved significantly, with post-intervention scores ranging from 3.5 to 3.9—indicating a good level of proficiency. These findings suggest that the program effectively enhanced the teachers’ skills in developing bilingual digital instructional materials. Keywords: digital module;  bilingual; local wisdom
