Abstract

This study aims to determine the psychological needs of klitih perpetrators in Yogyakarta. The main objective of this research was to describe the psychological needs of klitih perpetrators in Yogyakarta. This study’s participants consist of three males with the following criteria: (1) aged 18-24, (2) klitih perpetrators, and (3) lives in Yogyakarta. The research method used was qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. Data collection was conducted using the Personality Test (TAT), equipped with an interview. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. The findings reveal five dominant psychological needs of klitih perpetrators, such as the need for warmth and support (need for affiliation) and the need to seek help or sympathy (need for succorance). The need for freedom (need for autonomy) appeared to emerge strongly against the pressure from permissive and less warm family background, causing the participant to spend more time outside their homes. The need for violence (need for aggression) and the need for recognition (need for achievement) also appeared to arise due to the social environment’s demands, which then influence the participant to commit acts of klitih. This research shows the psychological needs of klitih perpetrators that can be channeled through other activities. Therefore, alternative positive activities that can meet these five primary needs should be developed to prevent adolescents from being involved in acts of klitih in schools, families, communities, and the Yogyakarta government.

Abstract

Previous studies state that self-regulated learning is a pivotal component in predicting students’ learning outcome. The present study aims to test the psychometric property of self-regulated learning scale to obtain a sound instrument. The procedure in this study included the scale construction, followed by psychometric property identification covering the content validity (using Aiken’s V and reliability test (Cronbach’s Alpha) of the data obtained from 203 respondents. The reliability coefficient of the final scale was 0.908, its discriminating power ranged between 0.307 and 0.626 with a mean score of 0.462. In other words, the self-regulated learning scale exhibit adequate psychometric property to measure university students’ self-regulated learning.

Abstract

Career exploration is one of the career development tasks that individuals commonly go through. In reality, these activities may cause problems for specific individuals, including students. Career guidance can assist individuals in successfully passing through this stage of a person’s life. Of the many career intervention models available, no previous research has utilized career planning guidebooks as a form of intervention to help students make career plans. This study aimed to validate a career planning guidebook created by the researcher and test its content and functional validity. Tests of content validity were conducted through professional judgment, while tests of functional validity were conducted via a quasi-experiment. The results showed that all the contents of the career planning guidebook were aligned with the goals of the career planning guidebook (Average of V= 0.6). The experiment results indicated significant difference in perceptions of career planning before and after the intervention (Z=-3.987; p=0.000). The findings concluded that the career planning guidebook is valid, both in terms of content and function.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of team development training interventions on teamwork effectiveness, as manifested by the team's problem-solving ability and the quality of their collaborative efforts. The experimental research design employed in this study involved two independent groups (a between-group design) with a singular dependent variable. The experimental group comprised 10 participants who underwent team development training interventions, while the control group, also consisting of 10 participants, underwent a placebo treatment in the form of psychological first-aid training. The assessment methodology utilized a group problem-solving test, specifically employing simulation games involving scenarios such as traffic jam and bomb squad simulations. The measurement outcomes revealed a substantial difference (44%) in task completion duration between the control and experimental groups. During the task completion, the Mann-Whitney test yielded a Z-value of -2.612, with an Asymp. Sig. (two-tailed) value of 0.009 (<0.01), indicating a significant difference in the assessment scores for the task completion process between the control and experimental groups. The interventions provided are proven to improve team cognition and affect, stimulating constructive team behavior in completing the task the groups face
