Abstract

The background of this research was the low responsibility and low mathematical critical thinking of fourth-grade students of SDN Kentungan in. This study aimed to: 1) describe efforts to improve the students' responsibility and critical thinking through the application of a contextual learning model; 2) improve the responsibility of fourth-grade students through the application of contextual learning models; 3) improve the critical thinking of fourth-grade students through the application of contextual learning models. The type of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this study were 24 grade IVA students of SDN Kentungan in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. The object of this research was to improve the students’ responsibility and critical thinking. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and observation sheets. The data analysis technique was descriptive quantitative. The results showed that: 1) Efforts to increase students' responsibility and critical thinking have been successfully carried out by using the contextual learning model through the following steps; a) Relating, b) Experiencing, c) Cooperating, d) Applying, e) Transfering. 2) The application of a contextual learning model improved the students’ responsibility. It could be seen from the increase in the average score for the initial conditions of 53,3% (less responsible). In the first cycle, it increased to 60.3% (Sufficiently Responsible). Then, in the second cycle, it increased to 73.5% (responsible). 3) The application of a contextual learning model improved the students' critical thinking. It could be seen from the increase in the initial condition average score of 56.2% (less critical). In the first cycle, it increased to 60.1% (quite critical), and in the second cycle, it increased to 71.85% (critical).

Abstract

The purpose of this training was to facilitate elementary school teachers in Sanjaya Elementary School Tritis, Pakem so that they were able to provide learning media for Natural and Social Sciences. The learning media was a set of equipment that could be used as learning media to help teachers deliver lessons to the students so that students were motivated to learn. Media that could be used should be helpful for the students to understand the concept of learning, be suitable with the characteristics of the students, and facilitate the students to obtain the learning objectives, as well as appropriate with the learning condition, facilities and time availability. This training was directed in such a way that the teachers in that school became creative in utilizing objects around them to teach Natural and Social Sciences. Games were also used to teach Mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Computational Thinking in the flipped classroom in the Geometry course based on Ignatian Pedagogy for prospective elementary school teachers at Sanata Dharma University. The research method used is descriptive. The research subjects were pre-service teacher Sanata Dharma University class 2017. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed by using qualitative analysis. This research concludes that the implementation by learning steps, namely (1) context, (2) experience, (3) action, (4) evaluation, (5) reflection. In this step, four aspects of Computational Thinking are developed, namely (1) decomposition, (2) pattern recognition, (3) abstraction, (4) algorithm. The results of the learning reflection show the response that students like the learning design.

Abstract

This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK), the research subject is the 3rd grade students of Al Umar Ngargosoka Islamic Elementary School, totaling 23 students in the 2020/2021 academic year. The object of this research is the students' communication skills and critical thinking on theme 6 sub-theme 2 using the PBL model at Al Umar Ngargosoka Islamic Elementary School. The assessment instruments used were observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and interview guides for communication and critical thinking. The data analysis technique used in this research is quantitative analysis and descriptive analysis in the form of descriptive words from each table presented. The results of this study indicate: (1) The use of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve the communication skills of the 3rd grade students, (2) the use of the Problem Based Learning model can improve students' critical thinking from the average score of the initial conditions, (3) an increase Communication skills and students' critical thinking through Problem Based Learning which is carried out by steps a) Orienting the problem, b) organizing students to learn, c) guide the investigation individually or in groups, d) develop and present the work, e) analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process.

Abstract

Computational Thinking is included as a learning approach that can identify patterns, solve complex problems into simpler steps, organize and create a series of steps in providing solutions. This study aims to analyze the ability of students' foundations of abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithms through the application of the Computational Thinking approach. The research method used is descriptive research with a case study type. This study uses quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques. The subjects of this study were 24 third grade students who were divided into 12 small groups at Bhaktikarya Public Elementary School. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Computational Thinking approach to the results of Student Worksheets that apply students' abstraction foundation skills, pattern recognition, and algorithms through the application of the Computational Thinking approach obtained an average percentage of 66%. This percentage is in the sufficient category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the application of Computational Thinking in learning science on the material of leaves for class IV at Kanisius Klepu Elementary School. This type of research is descriptive research, descriptive research is a form of research, aimed at describing phenomena that exit in natural phenomena and artificial phenomena. Respondents in this study were fourth grade students at SD Kanisius Klepu with a total of 25 student. This research was conducted on March 9 2023 in class IV SD Kanisius Klepu. Data collection techniques in this study used tests and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate that there are still students who do not have the knowledge and skills of Computational Thinking that are implemented in science learning. The learning process integrates the concept of Computational Thinking aspectcts of pattern recognition, abstraction and algorithms. Based on the student worksheet the results, the learning completeness was 75% in the good category.

Abstract

Muatan IPA merupakan salah satu muatan yang sangat erat kaitannya dengan kreativitas. Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya penggunaan model pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PjBL) yang masih rendah implementasinya di kelas. Hal tersebut terjadi karena guru kurang berinovasi dalam menggunakan model pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang bertujuan mengetahui peningkatan karakter kreatif menggunakan model pembelajaran PjBL pada muatan IPA kelas V. Subyek penelitian adalah 24 peserta didik kelas V SD Kanisius Kadirojo tahun ajaran 2022/2023 dengan rincian 13 peserta didik laki-laki dan 11 peserta didik perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan karakter kreatif peserta didik dari siklus I ke siklus II dengan kategori cukup baik menjadi baik pada indikator berpikir lancar (fluency) sebesar 48% menjadi 62%, indikator berpikir luwes (Flexibility) sebesar 54% menjadi 64%, dan indikator keaslian (originality) sebesar 58% menjadi 72%. Dengan demikian implementasi model pembelajaran PjBL mampu meningkatkan karakter kreatif peserta didik.
