Abstract

This study aims to determine the strategies and roles of stakeholders in an effort to reduce the antisocial behaviors of football supporters. This mixed-method study employed survey, interview and observation as the data collection techniques. A total of 60 participants consisting of 10 stakeholders and 50 football supporters were involved in this study. The qualitative data were collected through structured interviews and field observations, while the quantitative data were obtained by administering questionnaires. The qualitative data analysis involved data display, data reduction, and conclusions, while quantitative data analysis using descriptive statistics and the mean difference test with one-way Anova. The results showed that the strategies to reduce antisocial behaviors of football supporters consisted of aggressive, religious, innovative, and fanaticism (ARIF) strategies. Stakeholders had six roles in an effort to reduce the antisocial behaviors of football fans, namely: supporting fans’ activities, giving ideas, consolidating with supporters, controlling, mediator, and giving consideration. These strategies and stakeholder roles were implemented through empowerment and education of the football supporters on a regular and ongoing basis so that antisocial behaviors change into good social behavior.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the perceptions of English education students regarding their English skills during online learning and face-to-face learning. The research was conducted at the faculty of language and literature, majoring in English Education. The population in this research were students of English language education class 2020. The instruments used in this research were interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the research, researchers found that students' perceptions of online learning and face-to-face learning, face-to-face learning became the preferred choice as a better learning system to improve the effectiveness of students' English skills.

Abstract

Abstrak. Berdasarkan hasil kejuaraan tenis, tim tenis Universitas Negeri Makassar menunjukkan keadaan yang kurang memuaskan. Ini diakibatkan oleh kemampuan teknik yang kurang memadai. Kemampuan tekhnik tim tenis Universitas Negeri Makassar perlu ditingkatkan melalui latihan power latex band rox. Kajian ini mengkaji sejauh mana pengaruh latihan berbeban power latex band rox, latihan tanpa berbeban power latex band rox, dan perbedaan pengaruh antara latihan dengan beban dan latihan tanpa beban power latex band rox terhadap keterampilan backhand ground strokes atlet tenis Universitas Negeri Makassar. Kajian ini menggunakan kajian ekperimen lapangan. Desain kajian yang digunakan adalah Randomized Group Pre Test – Post Test Two Design” Data pree test dikumpul melalui tes keterampilan backhand groundstokes. Sebanyak 60 sampel dari 95 orang populasi telah dipilih melalui persampelan secara acak kemudian diberi tes awal, disusun berdasarkan rangking, kemudian dibagi menjadi dua kelompok kajian. Hasil kajain menunjukaan bahwa terdapat pengaruh dan hubungan yang kuat latihan yang menggunakan beban power latex band rox terhadap keterampilan backhand ground strokes, Demikian juga latihan tanpa beban mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan dan hubungan yang kuat. Hasil kajian selanjutnya mendapati bahwa perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan dan hubungan kuat yang diakibatkan oleh latihan berbeban dan tanpa berban power latex band rox. Semua pembolehubah kajian ini ialah statistik yang signifikan. Kajian ini boleh dilanjutkan pada populasi dan sampel yang lebih luas kepada atlet tenis. Pembolehubah bebas latihan backhand ground strokes menggunanakan beban power latex band rox perlu digalakkan pada jenis-jenis teknik bermain tenis dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan  bermain tenis. Kata Kunci: Tenis, Backhand Ground Strokes, Power Latex Band Rox.

Abstract

Vocabulary development is essential for English language learners, yet many junior high school students struggle with limited vocabulary due to unengaging instructional resources. This research aims to explore the effectiveness of Authentic Reading Materials (ARMs) in developing the vocabulary of eighth-grade students at SMP Aisyiyah Sungguminasa. This research employed a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The researcher selected 26 students using cluster random sampling and collected data through vocabulary tests administered before and after the treatment. The intervention involved real-world texts such as brochures, signs, posters, and inspirational quotes to present vocabulary in context. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test via SPSS. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary, with the mean score increasing from 42.12 in the pre-test to 63.27 in the post-test. Statistical analysis confirmed this growth with a significance value (p) of < .001. Consequently, this research concludes that ARMs effectively enhance vocabulary development by providing real-life contexts that aid retention. These materials serve as a practical and motivating alternative to traditional memorization methods for junior high school students.Keywords: authentic reading materials, EFL, real-life communication, secondary school, vocabulary development

Abstract

English language learning in Indonesian secondary schools continues to face challenges, particularly in developing balanced mastery of the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. One of the contributing factors is the limited use of interactive digital learning media that can actively engage students in the learning process. This study aims to examine students’ improvement in English achievement through the use of the Nearpod application as a digital learning medium. The study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test and post-test model. The participants were students of SMA IT Al-Fatih Makassar who received English instruction using Nearpod-based learning activities. Quantitative data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments covering the four English language skills. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis to identify changes in students’ achievement before and after the implementation of Nearpod. The findings reveal that students demonstrated improvement in English achievement after the intervention, with more noticeable changes in listening and reading skills compared to writing and speaking skills. The results suggest that the integration of Nearpod can support students’ learning improvement, particularly in receptive language skills, within the context of English as a foreign language instruction.Keywords: English achievement, students’ improvement, Nearpod application, digital learning media, EFL
