Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The development of science and technology stimulates the rise of effort to make use of all facilities in all fields. One of the results is increasing number of computer use in Indonesia. This condition encourages educational practitioners to develop several models of learning media by using computers with purposes of tutorial, exercises, simulations, and games. Meanwhile, learning process which applies some media of simulation provides some benefits as they are realistic, secure, and simple. This simulation will lead students into a visualization of real life condition. Without media, students will usually imagine what they learn. It later exposes them with some problems that influence their abstractions. If a lecturer only explains about Transformation Geometry without using simulation, there is a big opportunity that students will yield misconception or they will only remember it with little understanding. This research aims to develop a valid and practical the Transformation Geometry simulation. The method in this research is a design research from a technology perspective that uses a preliminary stage and evaluation stage. The result presented the simulation of the definition of reflection, rotation, rotation half-round, and translations that have been made are in accordance with the curriculum and the existing concepts. Try-out result shows that the simulation can help students find their own concepts of reflection, rotation, rotation half-round, and translation; and sets up students to communicate. The conclusion of this research is that the result of simulation design that has been created has to be valid and practical.KEY WORDS: Development of Science and Technology; Computer Use; Transformation Geometry; Learning Process; Understanding of Concepts.  About the Authors: Ahmad and Anton Jaelani are the Lecturers at the Department of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UMP (Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto), Jalan Raya Dukuhwaluh, Purwokerto, Central Java, Indonesia. Abstract

In mathematics learning at school, there are not many teaching materials that can support the learning process according to the needs of each student. One solution that can help students learn according to their needs is to use differentiated Student Worksheets (LKPD). The aim of this research is to produce a product in the form of a differentiated LKPD in terms of extrovert and introvert personalities using a project-based learning model on flat-sided building material for junior high school students. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD) with a 4D development model by Thiagarajan, which goes through 4 stages: Definition, Design, Development, and Dissemination. The subjects of this research were students in class VIII H of SMPN 5 Purwokerto. The instruments used are questionnaires to measure validity criteria and response questionnaires. The results of the research show that the differentiation LKPD in terms of extrovert and introvert personalities using a project-based learning model on flat-sided building material for junior high school students has met the very valid criteria with an average score of 3.63. Apart from that, this LKPD also received a very practical category with an average score of 3.13. These results indicate that this development product is suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Multimedia is a combination of various media elements, such as text, images, audio, video, and animation used by teachers to deliver teaching materials effectively and innovatively. There are various types of interactive multimedia that can be used, one of which is that teachers often involve videos and GeoGebra to help students learn mathematics. In practice, this assistance often makes students take a longer path to achieve learning goals. This study provides another perspective to determine the implications of learning videos and GeoGebra in completing answers that help students. With a descriptive method, this study took students as its subjects whose results were analyzed qualitatively using data descriptions, data reduction and presentation of conclusions. It turns out that videos are less able to help students complete their answers and GeoGebra can make students less than optimal in improving their thinking skills. However, the use of learning videos can be used by students to remember continuously to be used as independent learning materials and the use of GeoGebra can be used to correct answers that have been obtained using manual methods.
