Abstract

Background: The case of HIV/AIDS is a global problem that must be addressed immediately. A total of 6,176 cases of HIV/AIDS in Indonesia occurred in the age group 20-49 years. One of the causes of the high incidence of HIV/AIDS is the lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS as a preliminary study found that 63.2% of teenagers in Mluweh Village did not know about HIV/AIDS. This study aims to determine the model of community empowerment to increase knowledge of HIV/AIDS of adolescents in Mluweh Village. Methods: This study used an intervention method. The informant in this study is adolescents Mluweh Village. The technique of taking data using interviews then data analyzed descriptively. Results: Adolescents in Mluweh Village did not have comprehensive information on HIV/AIDS, which was due to low levels of education, still considered a taboo of reproductive health education, and lack of information resources on HIV/AIDS. Teenagers feel the need to do the formation of the Working Group (Pokja) of HIV/AIDS as an effort to increase knowledge of HIV/AIDS. The formation of the Working Group (Pokja) on HIV/AIDS should also be accompanied by the organizational structure and work program. Conclusion: The formation of the HIV/AIDS Working Group (Pokja) by utilizing local potentials is very necessary as an effort to increase adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Mathematical representation is how a person communicates the mathematical ideas in question to others. This ability has an important role in learning mathematics, especially as a foundation to align problem solving. This study aims to describe the mathematical representational ability of junior high school students in solving open-ended problems. The study subjects were students of grade XI junior high school. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Taking subjects using purposive sampling, which is based on their thinking style. Data collection uses tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that the ability of mathematical representations of: (1) groups of students of concrete sequential thinking styles able to create and communicate mathematical ideas in the form of images, have not been able to make mathematical models perfectly and are sufficiently able to use written words or text; (2) groups of students of abstract sequential thinking styles are less able to create and communicate mathematical ideas in the form of drawings but able to create mathematical models of ideas or ideas and are sufficiently able to use written words or text; (3) groups of students of abstract random thinking styles are less able to create and communicate mathematical ideas in the form of drawings and create mathematical models of ideas or ideas, but are sufficiently able to use written words or text; (4) Groups of students of concrete random thinking styles are quite capable of creating and communicating mathematical ideas in the form of drawings, unable to create mathematical models of ideas or ideas, less able to use written words or text

Abstract

This research aims to describe the divergent thinking skills of 8th-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Purwokerto in terms of extrovert-introvert personality types. The research follows a qualitative descriptive approach, with a subject  consisting of 29 students from class VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Purwokerto. The students were categorized into two groups, extroverts and introverts, with 3 students selected from each category using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection involved the use of questionnaires, tests, interviews, and documentation. The research data analysis technique encompassed data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that both extrovert and introvert personality types students written information to solve the given problems. However, in terms of fluency and flexibility aspects in question 1, extrovert students utilized a single problem-solving approach and provided one answer, whereas introvert students displayed the skills to present two problem-solving approaches and two answers. For question 2, both extrovert and introvert students demonstrated two answers and problem-solving methods. Introvert students were shown to require a conducive classroom atmosphere, while extrovert students were capable of adapting to varying classroom conditions

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of self-confidence and critical thinking skills of grade II students at SD Negeri 1 Kedungbanteng through the application of the talking stick learning method in Civic Education lessons. This type of research is classroom action research which is carried out in 2 cycles. The research instruments used were in the form of observation sheets for confident attitudes and tests for critical thinking skills. The results of the study showed that the self-confidence attitude of grade II students increased through learning using the talking stick. The percentage of students with a minimum self-confidence attitude was in the high category in the first cycle of 70.4%, increasing in the second cycle to 77.8%. Students' critical thinking skills have improved each cycle. The improvement of students' critical thinking skills from the average pre-action score of 64.25 to 69.63 in the first cycle and increased to 78.25 in the second cycle. Students who achieved the completeness criteria increased from 43.75% in the pre-action to 62.5% in the first cycle and increased to 87.5% in the second cycle. The results of the observation also showed an increase in student activities from cycle I to cycle II, namely as many as 25% of students increased their activities, including activeness in learning, students were more free to search and collect the desired information, and students also had more opportunities to learn with friends

Abstract

Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in the significance of students' emotional intelligence (EI) and personality traits regarding self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness. This is to guarantee that their workforce is trained successfully and continuously produces good results. The aims of the study are as follows. (1) to assess how well the proposed model fits the students' data, and (2) to identify the connection between EI domains. The authors opted for a cross-sectional study design by questionnaire survei for EI domains. A total of 1,284 students were involved in this research. The purposive design procedure that resulted in the sample selection involved five departments within the Professional Educational Programs at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto in Indonesia. The structural model includes all of the interdependencies between the variables. Statistics for Windows 24.0 and Analysing Moment Structures (AMOS) 24 Version were utilized for data analysis. According to the findings, students' levels of self-awareness significantly affect their ability to self-manage in professional education programs, and vice versa. Thus, our study strengthened the idea that EI with an emotion-response process mask is a quality requirement for effective students in any kind of learning environment.

Abstract

The usage of games, which have been around for a very long time and have been the focus of research for a number of years, is a component of mathematical education. The usage of games in mathematics classrooms is far higher than in any other subject. Furthermore, teachers agree that video games are an excellent medium for teaching mathematics in middle school. This raises the question of whether students in the secondary grades change their mathematical identities as a result of participating in an inquiry-based teaching unit with Minecraft. The information whether students in the secondary grades change their mathematical identities as a result of participating in an inquiry-based teaching unit with Minecraft remains unclear. The aims of this study is to analyze information regarding the benefits of using Minecraft as a teaching tool, the challenges that come with it, the viewpoints of students on the game, and the educational benefits it provides. The current study was based on a Minecraft-based teaching unit that was carried out in a class with a total of 22 high school students. This study use semi-structured interviews in our qualitative research endeavor. This study project's findings researcherre put into three themes, they are 1) students of mathematics; 2) Minecraft gamer of mathematics students; and 3) repositioned as students of mathematics.
