Abstract

In modern Indonesian literature, it can be said that female writers are still less prestigious than male writers. The problems raised in literature touch a lot with the relationship between men and women, patriarchal culture, and colonialism, accompanied by women's object as a male commodity. Call it a writer in the New Pujangga era like Selasih, then in the independence era Ida Nasutin, Walujati, St. Nuraini, Suwarsih Djojopuspito, to S. Rukiandi. Also N.H. Dini, Hanna Rambe, until in the 2000s, women writers such as Dee Lestari, Ayu Utami, Djenar Maesa Ayu, and others emerged. This research focuses on examining the literary works of Naning Pranoto, who are post-reform and pre-reform writers. The writer Naning Pranoto has produced twenty novels and more than a hundred short stories. Also, to this day, Naning Pranoto is still active in "Creative Writing," which has made the world of Indonesian literature healthy: preparing for new writers' birth. If, during the colonial era, the house of Tjokroaminoto was the sprouting area for the nation's leader's birth, the term "Mbok Naning's hut" was the home for the birth of new literary shoots. So this research is considered very important to explore the soul of Naning Pranoto in the world of Indonesian literature. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, collects Naning Pranoto's literary works and journals that discuss Naning Pranoto's work then provides a red line of its constituent elements from feminism, politics, ecology, colonialism, culture, and religion. Therefore, studying Naning Pranoto's literary works is equivalent to adding more attention to important figures' gold ink in Indonesian literature's history in the future and her phenomenal works

Abstract

This study applies Kristeva's intertextual theory to compare two monumental works written by great Indonesian politicians: Mao Zedong's “Strategic Problems in The Anti-Japanese Guerrilla War” and A H. Nasution's “Fundamentals of Guerrilla Warfare”. Based on Kristiva's theory, this study explores how the book “Strategic Problems in The Anti-Japanese Guerrilla War” influenced A H. Nasution's by analyzing the cultural, geographical, and political differences between China and Indonesia. A H. Nasution wrote “Fundamentals of Guerrilla Warfare” and how General Soedirman led the masses in the guerrilla war against the Netherlands in 1948 under the influence of the book. These two books have had a great influence in the world military field so far, such as “Fundamentals of Guerrilla Warfare” which is still a must read in American military studies. Through the study of these two great works, not only can we understand Mao Zedong and A H. Nasution's profound thoughts have broadened his horizons, and he can also understand the spirit of empathy and the pain of being colonized at that time, as well as how they developed mature political systems and military theories under various controls and conditions of colonialis.

Abstract

Linguistic Landscape in the Urban Tourism District of PIK 2 Chinatown, Tangerang This study analyzes the linguistic landscape in Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK 2), particularly in the Chinatown Pantjoran area. It focuses on the practices of monolingualism, bilingualism, and multilingualism. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations and visual documentation. A total of 38 public signs were collected and classified. The findings indicate that bilingual signs dominate at 65.79%, followed by monolingual signs at 18.42% and multilingual signs at 15.79%. The English–Mandarin combination is the most dominant, followed by Indonesian–Mandarin. The results highlight that language functions not only as a communication tool but also as a symbolic and commodified instrument. It reinforces ethnic identity, national integration, and the commercial appeal of the area. Mandarin represents Chinese ethnicity, English reflects global modernity, and Indonesian serves both regulatory and integrative roles. Thus, the linguistic landscape of PIK 2 reflects a complex interaction among local, ethnic, national, and global interests. Theoretically, this study contributes to linguistic landscape studies in multicultural urban tourism areas. Practically, it provides insights for urban planners and policymakers in managing public spaces that consider linguistic diversity.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Bahasa Mandarin di Indonesia dianggap memasuki gelombang ke dua semenjak masa pemerintahan Presiden Abdurrahman Wahid, dan jika dirunut hingga hari ini, maka pembelajaran sudah memasuki masa lebih dari duapuluh tahun. Sayangnya, berdasarkan penelitian Bahasa Mandarin di Indonesia, khususnya pengajaran penulisan aksara Han (汉字教学) hingga hari ini belum dapat mengatasi kesulitan pembelajar dalam menulis aksara Han dengan tepat. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode penyalinan“字帖” (Zìtiě) yaitu metode penyalinan seperti yang diajarkan pembelajar dasar penulisan Hanzi di Tiongkok bagi masyarakat Tiongkok yang diaplikasikan bagi pembelajar Bahasa Mandarin sebagai bahasa ke dua di Indonesia untuk menghasilkan tingkat penulisan Hanzi yang lebih akurat. Metode yang dipakai adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Pertama, mengumpulkan data penulisan aksara Han mahasiswa prodi BMKT UAI sebanyak 20 orang, lalu menelaahnya melalui metode kualitatif dan memberikan pelatihan penulisan aksara Han dengan metode penyalinan (Zìtiě) . Didapatkan bahwa, kesalahan-kesalahan yang muncul dari penulisan aksara Han, seperti kesalahan jarak antar aksara, kesalahan penulisan guratan dasar, arah, ketidak akuratan, kurang dan berlebihannya jumlah guratan dasar, gabungan jumlah guratan dasar salah. Melalui latihan menggunakan buku metode penyalinan “Zìtiě”, meghasilkan keakuratan penulisan aksara dan tingkat kesalahan menurun.Kata Kunci - Aksara Han; Bahasa Asing; Bahasa Mandarin; Hanzi;

Abstract

Language functions not only as a means of communication but also as a cultural marker that is visibly manifested in public spaces through the linguistic landscape (LL). Previous LL studies in Indonesia have focused on locations such as airports, train stations, and cemeteries, while Glodok Chinatown, the oldest Chinese settlement in Jakarta, has received limited scholarly attention. This study aims to (1) identify the dominant languages used on public signage in Glodok and (2) analyze how language choices reflect socio-cultural identity in the area. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, 67 public signs were documented and analyzed using a linguistic landscape categorization framework. The findings indicate that bilingual signage dominates the area (47.76%), particularly Indonesian–Mandarin combinations, followed by monolingual signs (44.78%) and multilingual signs (7.46%). Indonesian functions as a unifying national language, while Mandarin symbolizes the preservation of the Chinese ethnic heritage. The presence of English and other languages such as Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Minangkabau reflects Glodok’s multicultural character and its engagement with globalization and economic activities. These patterns demonstrate that Glodok’s linguistic landscape operates not only as a communicative tool but also as a symbolic space where cultural identity negotiation, identity maintenance, and economic considerations intersect. By examining a historically multicultural district, this study contributes empirical evidence to linguistic landscape research and situates Glodok within broader discussions of identity, language policy, and globalization.
