Abstract

Dari 204 pasien check up, 67 pasien (32,8%) mengalami perlemakan hati. Pada pasien dengan perlemakan hati sebanyak 95,5% mengalami obesitas, 67,2% hipertrigliseridemia, dan 32,8% trigliserida normal. Terdapat hubungan bermakna antara obesitas (risiko relatif (RR)=18,7; 95% C.I 5,6–62,4; p=0,001), obesitas disertai hipertrigliseridemia (RR=5,1; 95% C.I 2,7–9,5; p<0,001) dengan perlemakan hati. Didapatkan hubungan bermakna antara perlemakan hati dengan obesitas. Trigliserida tidak berhubungan langsung tetapi hipertrigliseridemia disertai obesitas berhubungan bermakna dengan kejadian perlemakan.Kata kunci: Obesitas, trigliserida, hipertrigliseridemia, perlemakan hati Relationship between Obesity and Hypertriglyceridemia on Fatty Liver in Patients at MakassarAbstractFatty liver is caused by a failure of normal hepatic fat metabolism due to a dysfunction of either within the hepatocytes. The degree of fatty liver is correlating to the increase of body weight. The aim of this study is to investigate any specific relationship between fatty liver and obesity as well as hypertriglyceridemia. This is a cross sectional study by using the retrospective data which is obtained from medical check up at Prodia clinical laboratory during 2006, fatty liver is diagnosed by using ultrasonography, obesity on body mass index (BMI), and triglyceride level by enzymatic colorimetric method. In 204 subjects of medical check up subjects were analyzed. Fatty liver has been found in 67 subjects (32.8%),95.5% of subjects with obesity, 32.8 subjects with normal triglyceride and 67.2% subjects with hypertriglyceridemia. There are significant relationship of obesity (relative risk(RR)=18.7; 95% C.I 5.6–62.4;p=0.001), obesity and hypertrigliseridemia (RR=5.1; 95% C.I 2.7–9.5; p<0.001) with fatty liver. Thereare a significant relationship of fatty liver and as well as obesity. Triglyceride is not contributing directlyto fatty liver but hypertriglyceridemia with obesity have significant relationship with fatty liver.Key words: Obesity, triglyceride, hypertriglyceridemia, fatty liver

Abstract

The adsorption of Bismarck Brown R (BBR) dye has been conducted using mesoporous silica (MCM-48). We synthesized the adsorbent using Ludox HS-40 as a silica source and surfactants of Cetyl Trimethylammonium Bromide (CTAB) and Triton X-100. The characterization of MCM-48 was performed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Various contact times were used to study the adsorption kinetics, and concentrations were used to study the adsorption isotherm. The optimum contact time of Bismarck Brown R dye was 120 minutes, and the adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order model. Based on the equation Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms, the adsorption capacity values of each are obtained 158.7301 mg g-1 and 4.3601 mg g-1. Our results showed that the material can be used as a new dye adsorbent.

Abstract

Our present study describes the green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) using a leaf extract from Anredera cordifolia (AC). The presence of flavonoids, saponins, and alkaloids in the plant extract was confirmed by phytochemical analysis, and these chemicals can be used as reducing, stabilizing, and capping agents. UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, XRD, FT-IR, and SEM-EDS were used to characterize the CuONPs. The UV-Vis spectroscopy of the biosynthesized CuONPs revealed an absorption peak at 325 nm. The XRD graph also revealed that the Debye-Scherrer formula observed an average crystalline size of around 43.47 nm. EDS analysis confirmed the composition and purity of CuONPs. The presence of functional groups -OH, C=O, and C-O triggers the synthesis of CuONPs, according to FT-IR analysis. Furthermore, the CuONPs antioxidant property inhibited free radicals as antioxidants with an IC50 value of 34.20 g/mL.

Abstract

Zerumbone has been reported for their several biological activities. In our interest to this compound, we have identified and analyzed its content in Zingiber zerumbet, a medicinal plant from Indonesian traditional medicine and investigated its inhibitory activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a known infection bacteria of tuberculosis. Analysis of zerumbone was performed with densitometry to leave, rhizome, flower, and stem of Z. zerumbet which was extracted with various solvent system and extraction methods to determine the best method to isolate zerumbone from Z. zerumbet. Result showed that the highest zerumbone was in rhizome while was not observed in other part. Analysis with various solvent and extraction methods showed the highest yield of zerumbone can be extracted by n-hexane (maceration) and reflux extraction method (methanol). Furthermore, inhibitory activity of zerumbone against M. tuberculosis was tested using Lowenstein Jensen medium by counting the number of M. tuberculosis colony growth in medium. Resulted inhibitory activity of zerumbone at all test concentration (0.5, 0.1, 0.05, 0.01, 0.005%) with the growth of 10, 12, 14, 15, and 50 colonies of M. tuberculosis was observed, respectively. This is indicate that zerumbone can be used as an alternative choice for treatment tuberculosis in the future.
