Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium spp. The cause of mortality in malaria is the parasite’s resistance to malaria drugs and immune system problem. Interleukin-10 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine during plasmodium infection. Bangle is a herbal remedy that contains high amount of curcumin showing immunostimulant activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference of IL-10 level in Plasmodium berghei-infected Balb/C mice given with methanolic fraction of bangle (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.) as a complementary therapy. This study was a true experimental with posttest control group design using 25 mice Balb/c which divided into 5 groups (A, B, C, D and E). All groups except group A were infected with P. berghei. After positively infected, group B was not treated, C was treated with artemisinin, group D was given with artemisinin and methanolic fraction bangle 0,017 mg/gBW, group E was treated with methanolic fraction bangle 0,017 mg/gBW. The result showed that group D had the highest-level of IL-10 among the treatment groups. The Post Hoc LSD test showed p value ≥ 0,05. In conclusion, there was no significant difference of IL-10 serum level in P. berghei-infected Balb/C mice given with methanolic fraction of bangle (Z. cassumunar Roxb.) as complementary therapy. Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: In medical dispute resolution through mediation, a mediator with the medical qualification will be easier to facilitate the mediation process because of their expertise related to substance, but health workers which have high solidity towards the profession which will make it difficult for them to be impartial. The principal aim of this thesis was to study the doctor’s capability and doctor’s impartiality as a mediator in medical disputes. The issue will be discussed normatively juridically through the statute approach, conceptual approach, and comparative approach with Malaysia, Australia, and Netherland as the comparative country. From this research, it can be concluded that the capability of doctors as mediators of medical disputes lies in the gravity levels of doctors who are commensurate with the context of the dispute. Malaysia, Australia, and the Netherlands have required that mediators need to have an understanding of the substance and have technical knowledge of the problem at hand. A doctor’s impartiality as a mediator in medical disputes will have a tendency of partisanship and conflicts of interest. Keywords: Capability, Impartiality, Doctor, Mediator, Medical Dispute

Abstract

Kata kunci: Gawat darurat, Medis, Pasien, Perlindungan hukum This study aims to determine the form of legal protection for medical personnel and patients against emergency measures in the perspective of criminal law and in the perspective of civil law. The method used in this research is normative juridical. The results of the study show that patients who find a doctor's mistake when carrying out medical actions in an emergency situation and the act fulfills a criminal element, the patient can hold the doctor accountable criminally, but according to the principle of ultimum remedium, criminal law should be used as a last resort in terms of law enforcement. From a civil law perspective, Article 58 paragraph (2) of the Health Law states that claims for compensation do not apply to health workers who take actions to save lives or prevent someone from becoming disabled in an emergency. Patients whose interests are harmed by the doctor's actions in carrying out medical practice can complain in writing to the Chairman of the Indonesian Medical Discipline Honorary Council and do not eliminate the right of everyone to report suspected criminal acts to the authorities and/or sue for civil damages to court.  Keywords: Emergency, Medical, Patient, Legal protection   REFERENCES Bickenbach, Jerome. “WHO’s Definition of Health: Philosophical Analysis.” In Handbook of the Philosophy of Medicine, edited by Thomas Schramme and Steven Edwards, 1–14.
