Abstract

The availability of water that is limited for watering during the dry season, especially in the largearea of oil palm nursery can be overcome by saving the water, which, in this research is the intervalwatering. Another alternative that can be applied is the utilization of mycofer. The research wasconducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture University of North Sumatra fromSeptember 2013 to January 2014. Research design was factorial randomized block design with twofactors : mycofer application (0, 5, 10, 15 g/seedling) and the interval watering (every day, threedays and five days). Parameters observed were percentage of root infection, leaf area total, dryweight of shoot, dry weight of root, and water use efficiency (WUE). The result showed thatmycofer application significantly affected the percentage of root infection which the highestinfection on 18th week after application was 28,89% as the result of 10 grams mycofer application.There was no significant effect of both mycofer application and watering interval in leaf area total,dry weight of shoot and root. Watering interval significantly affected the WUE which the highestWUE was 13,69% as the result of five days watering interval. Moreover, the watering interval forfive days in the research didn’t impair the oil palm growth within 18 weeks. The interaction had nosignificant effect on all of the parameters observed.Keywords: mycofer, watering interval, oil palm

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine growth response of cacao seedlings by givingvermicompost and watering time interval in the subsoil. The research had been conducted in theGreenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan on May 2013 untilAugust 2013 by using Randomized Block Design with two factors: vermicompost (0, 10, 20, 30%growth media volume) and watering time interval (1, 3, 5, and 7 days). The parameters observedwere plant height, stem diameter, total of leaf area, canopy fresh weight, canopy dry weight, rootfresh weight, root dry weight, root height, and water use efficiency. The results showed thatvermicompost has significant effects to plant height 4-14 WAP, stem diameter 4-14 WAP, total ofleaf area, root fresh weight, root height and water use efficiency but not significant to canopy freshweight, canopy dry weight and root dry weight. Watering time interval has significant effects toplant height 10, 12 and 14 WAP, stem diameter 8, 10, 12 and 14 MST, canopy fresh weight, canopydry weight,total of leaf area and water use efficiency but not significant to plant height 4, 6 and 8MST, stem diameter 4 and 6 WAP, root fresh weight, root dry weight, and root height.Theinteraction of vermicompost and watering interval had not significant.Keywords : vermicompost, Watering Time Interval, Cacao

Abstract

The climate factor is very influential to the growth and productivity of palm oil. Rainfall is animportant climatic element observed. Where the palm oil is a plant that requires large amounts ofwater than other crops. Purpose of this research was to determine the effect of rainfall and rain dayas well as the correlation of both on palm oil production in plants aged 12, 15 and 18 years. Thisresearch was held at PTPN II Unit Sawit Seberang–Babalan Sub-district Sawit Seberang DistrictLangkat Province of North Sumatera from March 2014 to September 2014. This research usedprimary data available in company administration. Primary data for the purposes of data analysisincludes the production of fresh fruit bunches (FFB); componen production data as total bunches,average bunches weight, and total of productive trees; rainfall data and rain day monthly in 2011,2012, and 2013 on 9 afdeling. Analysis method used are double linier regression and correlationanalysis. Model tested by classic asumption consists of normality test, heteroskedasticity test,multicollinearity, and autocorellations test by using statistic software SPSS.v.18 for windows. Theregression analysis shows that rain fall and rain day variables haven’t significant influence with alpha 5% (Sig < α 0.05) to increase the production of FFB at the age of 12, 15, and 18 years. This isbecause the rainfall is not evenly distributed throughout the year and less than optimal for thegrowth and production of FFB. From the results of the classical assumption test conducted todetermine whether the multiple regression equation feasible or not to use the regression equation toconclude that the oil palms aged 12, 15, and 18 years are qualified. Correlation results in plants was12, 15, and 18 years with two-way analysis test at 1% level showed variable rainfall and rainy dayshave a strong relationship, and the real (positive) direction. Correlation values of rainfall and rainydays are 0.895; 0.887; and 0.911 each with significant level < α 0.01. Keywords: rainfall, rain day, FFB production.

Abstract

This research has been conducted to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer and zeolite on growth of tobacco. This research has been conducted in screen house at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan (± 25 m above sea level) during September until November 2014 using factorial randomized block design with two factors are nitrogen fertilizer (0; 9,02; 18,04 g ZA/plant) and zeolite ( 0; 31,5; 63,1; 94,6 g/plant). The parameters observed were plant height, diameter of stem, numbers of leaf, greennes of leaf and summarize of leaf area. The results of the research showed that nitrogen fertilizers increased plant growth of tobacco Deli, zeolites and both of interaction has not increase plant growth of tobacco Deli.Key words : nitrogen, zeolite, Deli tobacco.

Abstract

This study was conducted in PTPN II Kebun Tanjung Jati, Binjai on June until August 2014. The design of the experiment was randomized block design arranged in factorial with two factors. The first factor was the concentration Rootone F plant growth regulator with 4 levels of each R0 (0 mg/l), R1 (200 mg/l), R2 (400mg/l) and R3 (600 mg/l). The second factor was source of bud chips that origin from 3 parts of stem C1 (top), C2 (middle) dan C3 (bottom). The Parameter observed includes percentage of bud growth ≥ 5%, percentage of bud growth (%), plant height (cm), number leafs (sheet), diameter of stem (mm), volume of root (ml), fresh weight of crown (g), fresh weight of root (g), dry weight of crown (g) and dry weight of root (g).The result of research showed that Rootone F plant growth regulators influential significantly on percentage of bud growth ≥ 5%, diameter of stem 6-10 weeks after planted, volume of root, fresh weight of root, and dry weight of root. Sourced of bud chips influential significantly on percentage of bud growth ≥ 5%, percentage of bud growth 1 and 2 weeks after planted, plant height 2-10 weeks after planted and diameter of stem 2-8 weeks after planted. Interaction between consentration Rootone F plant growth regulator and source of bud chips haven’t the real influences toward all the parameter were observed.Keywords : Plant growth regulators, source of bud chips, sugarcane

Abstract

The climate factors is very influental to the growth and productivity of sugarcane. Rainfall is an important climatic element observed. The purpose of this reseach was to determine the effect of rainfall and rainy day as well as the correlation of both on sugarcane yield. This research was held at PTPN II Unit Kwala Bingai District Langkat Province of North Sumatera from Mey 2015 to Agustus 2015. The primary data for analytical purposes include sugarcane production; rainfall; and rainy days in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 at 6 locations. The result showed that rainfall and rainy days had not give contribution to sugarcane production. Based on regresion analysis at α = 0,05 rainfall as well as rainy days have low correlation to sugarcane yield.Keywords: rain fall, rain day, production of sugar cane.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aimed to determine the effect of compost and foliar fertilizer on the growth and production of Deli tobacco. It was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Agricultural Faculty, University of North Sumatera, Medan (± 25 m above sea level) began from August until October 2015. The research was arranged with factorial randomized block design with two factors, the first factor was compost (0 g/polybag, 300 g/polybag, 600 g/polybag, and 900 g/polybag) and the second factor was foliar fertilizer (0 g/l of water, 2 g/l of water, 4 g/l of water and 6 g/l of water). The result showed that compost was giving significant effect on diameter of stem 8 weeks after transplanting, length of the sand leaf, width of the sand leaf, length of the feet  leaf I, width of the feet leaf I, length of the feet leaf II, width of the feet leaf II, and root volume. Foliar fertilizer and both of interaction were not giving significant effect on all parameters. Keywords : compost, Deli tobacco, foliar fertilizer ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kompos dan pupuk daun terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tembakau Deli. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Lahan Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan (± 25 m dpl) pada bulan Agustus sampai Oktober 2015. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama adalah pemberian kompos (0 g/polibeg, 300 g/polibeg, 600 g/polibeg, dan 900 g/polibeg). Faktor kedua adalah pupuk daun (0 g/l air, 2 g/l air, 4 g/l air dan 6 g/l air). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kompos berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter diameter batang 8 MSPT, panjang daun pasir, lebar daun pasir, panjang daun kaki I, lebar daun kaki I, panjang daun kaki I, lebar daun kaki II, dan volume akar. Pemberian pupuk daun serta interaksi keduanya berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap semua parameter. Kata kunci : kompos, pupuk daun, tembakau Deli

Abstract

Use proper planting media can support the development of cocoa seeds. But its use should be based on the nature of the medium is able to absorb and hold water in relatively long. Hence required combination some composition media cropping and frequency watering to gain the mass seeds cocoa. This study was conducted in the greenhouse the Faculty Agricultural University of North Sumatra, located at an elevation of above sea level 25 from January 2015 until April 2015, using a random factorial group with two factors the Media Treatment Composition Planted with Topsoil treatment, Topsoil + Compost TKKS (1:2), Topsoil + Manure a Chicken (1:2)Topsoil + Sphagnum (1:2) and Frequency of treatment of Sprinkling with 100%KL/ml/one day, 100%KL/ml/two days, 100%/KL/ml/three days. Parameter examined is tall plant, diameter of the stem, broad leaves, wet weight header, wet roots, dry weight header, and weights dried root. The research results show that composition media planting had have real impact on parameter tall plant, diameter of the stem, wet weight roots and weight dried root. Treatment of frequency watering affect significant a tall parameters,diameter of stem, wet weight roots, and weight dried roort  observation.Interaction some composition media cropping and frequency watering do not affect significant a tall parameters observation.         Keywords: cocoa, planting media, watering frequency

Abstract

Watering is a method that used to fulfill the water needs of oil palm seedlings in the nursery. In watering that must be considered is the quality and amount of water given and the right watering time. The aim of this research was conducted the Influence of frequency of watering to several types of seeds of high oil palm (Elaeis quineensis Jacq.) that thick mesocarp in the Main Nursery 4 until 7 month. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan (± 32 meters above sea level), which began from September to November 2017. This Research was conducted by using a Factorial Randomized Complete Design with two factors. The first factor is watering consists of in the morning (1 time) and in the morning & evening (2 times), the  second  factor is varieties of oil palm that thick mesocarp consists of Avros, Simalungun and PPKS 540. The observation parameters is the total leaf area. The results showed that frequency treatment of watering is not significant but the varieties of oil palm that thick mesocarp significanly different Avros to Simalungun and PPKS 540 and interaction both had no significant effect on the growth of oil palm seedlings.
