Abstract

Nusa Dua Tourist Resort has been an important part of the development and growth of tourism industry in Bali. Therefore, the presents study was intended to analyze and answer the following questions: (1) what was the form of the power relation among the three stakeholders such as the government, the investors, and the local people in the management of the Nusa Dua Tourist Resort like after reformation from 1998 to 2013? (2) What ideologies contributing to the power relation in the management of the resort? (3) What was the meaning of the power relation among the three stakeholders such as the government, the investors and the local people, in such a management? It was found that the power relation in the management of the Nusa Dua Tourist Resort was affected by the hegemonic power, the negotiation power, and the oppositional power. The ideologies which contributed to the power relation in the management of the resort included the ideology of global tourism, the ideology of green tourism in the management of the resort and the ideology of the Local Culture in Culture Tourism. The struggle for the meaning of the power relation in the management of the resort among the three pillars (the government/BTDC, the investors, and the local people) would take place continuously. The three pillars gave different meanings, depending on their respective positions and interests.

Abstract

AbstractThis article analyses the power relations between three stakeholders involved in the management of the Nusa Dua Tourism Resort, Bali in the seventeen years after thereformation era, between 1998 to the present. It was chosen because after the reformation era, there have been changed inthe nature of power relations among the three stakeholders inthe region, that is between the government (BTDC), investor (hotel manager), and local communities. This study uses the theory of hegemony, the discourse of power/ knowledge, and communication actions was applied eclectic considering the sub-topics discussed related to each other. The analysis ofthe power relations was strengthened by the analysis of thesubtopics of ideologies as a contributing factor to the natureof power relation and the strategy of each stakeholder wastaking in defining their relations to each others. The study shows that the relation of power between BTDC and the local people had changed drastically since the reformation era, from the hegemonic into the negotiative which then changed into the oppositional relation. The article concludes that social and political situation in Bali gave significant impacts to the nature of relationship between tourism stakeholders in Nusa Dua.

Abstract

The river has a substantial contribution in our life. But in reality the quality of rivers in Indonesia is in a heavily polluted condition. Various river structuring efforts have been carried out such as maintaining cleanliness, managing the smooth running of water, and educating people not to throw garbage into the river. This article aims to identify potential and determine the design in developing the Badung River basin to support the development of cultural tourism in Denpasar City. The technique of collecting data uses non-participant observation, document study, and in-depth interviews. This article concludes that Sungai Badung has a variety of tourism potential that can be developed as a new tourist attraction. The concept of development by designing eco-culinary tourism parks combines the concepts of ‘eco-tourism’ and ‘culinary tourism’ in an effort to create sustainable tourism without damaging the river ecosystem.

Abstract

The rapid development of today's technology encourages every component in the government create a new idea. The government of Denpasar has implemented smart city program by triggering tour package of Denpasar City tour. However, in the arrangement of the Badung River as a tourist attraction by the government of Denpasar is not yet optimaliced in developing its tourism. The potency has not been able to attract tourists to visit the Badung River as a new tourist attraction. Therefore, it needs an effort to develop a river tour package to preserve the local wisdom so that it remains sustainable. The purpose of this research is to plan a river tour through the development of local wisdom-based travel packages in Badung river. This research uses mix method. Data collection is done using interview techniques, observations, and documentation studies. The data analysis used in this research is internal factor analysis using IFAS, external factor analysis using EFAS, and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the growth strategy can be designed by maintaining the local culture and wisdom. It is further developed by planning a tour package of the River Tour which has been tailored to the needs and desires of tourists.

Abstract

Alas Kedaton Tourism Object has a unique natural resource and it is potential to be attraction for the tourist to visit it. The development of Alas Kedaton Tourism Object will be running well if the quality of natural resource and human  resources is balance. The quality of human resources is one of the important factor to develop the potency of Alas Kedaton Tourism Object  to be excellent. When the human resources are qualified, the tourism resource will be better. Local society are the human resources that has to be involved. The involvement of local community will give a positive effect for them. The principle of tourism development which is from the community, by the community, and for the community will influence the life of the community to be better. The purposes of this research will be reach in two steps, they are 1) To know the potency of Alas Kedaton Tourism Object , like its culture variety and its unique social society life but the uttilization is not maximun, 2) To identify the development method of community empowerment in managing Alas Kedaton Tourism Object , which is not maximum. This research is using qualitative method. It is used to get data or descriptive explanation about Alas Kedaton Tourism Object and the its prolem. It is also using descriptive-qualitative analysis technic, internal and external factor analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results of this research are 1) The form of community empowerment in managing Alas Kedaton Tourism Object, 2) The development of community empowerment in managing Alas Kedaton Tourism Object.

Abstract

Management of Nusa Dua Tourism Resort can not be separated from macro social and political developments at the national level and the micro at the regional level. The stakeholder power relations between the three pillars of the government (BTDC), investors, and the society in the management of Nusa Dua resort is influenced by external factors is the globalization that developing very fast. This study focused on analyzing and answering the basic of what ideology is affecting the management of Nusa Dua Tourism Resort. Results of this study indicate that the management of Nusa Dua Tourism Resort not only determined by the business management matters but also by the social and political situation and by global and others tourism related ideologies. Social and political change and demands by these ideologies force all three pillars in the Nusa Dua Tourism Resort management activities to wisely exercising their power in relation of each other for the benefit of all parties and assurance of the sustainability of the resort.IDEOLOGI YANG MEMENGARUHI PENGELOLAAN RESOR WISATA NUSA DUA, BALI

Abstract

Nusa Dua Tourist Resort has been an important part of the development and growth of tourism industry in Indonesia in general and in Bali in particular. The development in Nusa Dua Area has caused many parties with their respective interests to struggle for its management. This research focuses on the struggle of the three pillars for power relation in the management of Nusa Dua Tourist Resort. The three pillars include the government, in this case, BTDC, the investors, and the local people. Therefore, the presents study was intended to analyze and answer the following questions: what was the form of the power relation among the three stakeholders such as the government, the investors, and the local people in the management of the Nusa Dua Tourist Resort from the developing period until 2014. The result of the study showed that the power relation in the management of the Nusa Dua Tourist Resort was affected by the hegemonic power, the negotiation power, and the oppositional power/counter hegemonic.

Abstract

The purpose of river toward human’s life is obvious since many history of humanity milestone explained in the river area. Nowadays, some rivers in Indonesia polluted because mostly waste issue, namely Badung River. Some efforts have been attempted by the government to arrange the surrounded area of Badung River. However, the result has not met the expectation since the solution still found its weakness and challenges. The aims of this research to understand the policy of Denpasar city and the implementation of Badung River’s arrangement as an attraction in Denpasar city. Badung river arrangement and management determines environment conservation in building a sustainable development toward local community empowerment. Therefore, after the well management, government assumes the balance life or harmony in life is obtained based on its local genious. The methodology of this research is descriptive qualitative to describe social phenomenons. Collecting data utilize some methods such as observation, documentation and depth-interview with stakeholders. Pre-assumption of the community shows government policy regarding river arrangement has been well-managed, as it is seen from the policy implementation in arrangement in surround area of Badung River. Nevertheless, to optimize the Badung river development should begin from the change of human lifestyle in local community surround the Badung river area. Keywords: attraction, government policy, river

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor pendorong dan penarik terhadap keputusan mahasiswa berwisata ke luar Bali. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner tertutup dengan menggunakan skala Likert. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa faktor pendorong dan penarik berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan berwisata ke luar negeri dengan besaran pengaruh 43,8%

Abstract

Pengabdian ini untuk membantu kelompok truna truni pedagang di pasar Sidakarya Denpasar dalam mengatasi 1) Keluahan tamu berkaitan dengan faktor fisik yaitu ruangan yang kurang mendapat pertukaran udara yang lancar, suhu panas atau lembab, pencahayaan yang buruk, dan lantai tidak mudah dibersihkan bahkan licin, 2) Keluahan tamu berkaitan dengan SDM/ anggota kelompok belum memiliki pengetahuan standar dalam penyediaan makanan dan minuman, 3) Belum adanya standar keamanan, kebersihan dan keselamatan dalam bekerja pada kelompok pedagang di pasar Kereneng, 4) Kualitas pelayanan tamu masih rendah. Berkaitan dengan masalah tersebut kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memberikan solusi untuk menyelesaikan persoalan tersebut dengan memberikan bantuan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada peserta pelatihan standar penyajian makan dan minum serta mendesain tempat pedagang yang ramah lingkungan dan estetika. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan metode survey, metode partisipatory rural apprasial (PRA), pemberian Pelatihan, Pendampingan, dan Monitoring. Tujuannya adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan kelompok truna truni pedagang di Pasar Sidakarya.   This service aims to help the teruna teruni group of traders at the Sidakarya market in Denpasar in overcoming 1) Guest complaints related to physical factors, namely rooms that do not have a smooth air exchange, hot or humid temperatures, poor lighting, and floors that are not easy to clean or even slippery, 2) Guest complaints relate to human resources/group members not having standard knowledge in providing food and drinks, 3) There are no security, cleanliness and safety standards in working in the group of traders at Sidakarya market, 4) The quality of guest service is still low. In connection with this problem, this community service activity provides a solution to resolve this problem by providing knowledge and skills assistance to training participants in serving food and drink as well as designing environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing merchant premises. The methods used are surveys, participatory rural appraisal (PRA), as well as providing training, mentoring, and monitoring. The aim is to improve the quality of service for the first-line group of traders at the Sidakarya Market.
