Abstract

Areca nut skin contains phenolic compounds which have antioxidant and sunscreen activities. This study aims to determine the levels of polyphenols, antioxidant activity and sunscreen contained in the extract and fraction of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) skin. Testing levels of polyphenols using Folin-Ciocalteau reagents, testing of antioxidants using the DPPH method with a comparison of vitamin C, and on sunscreen testing using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method by calculating the SPF value. The results of this study indicate that the fraction of n-Butanol has higher polyphenol levels compared to extracts and other fractions with polyphenol levels of 13.88974%. In antioxidant testing it was found that the n-hexane fraction had very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 40.848 mg / ml. In the sunscreen activity test, it was found that the highest SPF value was at a concentration of 300 ppm, in the thick ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, n-Butanol fraction, and residual water fraction. The highest sunscreen activity of SPF value is the ethyl acetate fraction that is 24.79. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the skin of betel nuts has antioxidant activity, sunscreen, and polyphenol levels.

Abstract

Kata kunci : Antibakteri; FTIR; NMR; Organotimah (IV) ditiokarbamat.ABSTRACTThis organotin (IV) dithiocarbamate compound has been widely used in the pharmaceutical and medical fields and is used as an anticancer, antibacterial and antifungal. This compound was successfully synthesized with the aim of finding an overview of the structure and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. This compound was synthesized by the in situ method by adding methyl amine (0.02 mol) + carbon disulfide (0.02 mol) + metal diphenyltin (IV) dichloride (0.01 mol), and producing a powder of 1.9 g was identified using FTIR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out using the paper disc diffusion method and using NA (Nutrient Agar) media. The results of the research of synthetic compounds using FTIR obtained groups (C-N), (C-S), (C=N), (C=C), (C-H). The measurement results of 1H NMR obtained 2.34 (CH3) and 7.29 – 8.32 (aromatic). The results of 13C NMR obtained 11.17 – 20.32 (CH3), 128.12 – 142.71 (C aromatic) and 51.03 – 57.39 (CH2), and the results of antibacterial activity test with a concentration of 90 ppm can be categorized as very strong in antibacterial activity. In conclusion, this compound was succesfully synthesized and caracterized by its structure description and this complex compound has activity as an antibacterial agent with a very strong category. Keywords : Antibacterial; FTIR; NMR; Organotimah (IV) ditiocarbamate.

Abstract

Abstract: Ischemic stroke is caused by a blockage or blood clot that occurs in the brain. Stroke has various risk factors and complications that cause patients to receive many medications (polypharmacy). Polypharmacy can increase the potential for drug interactions that can harm patients. One of the treatment options for ischemic stroke is antihyperlipidemic therapy. Antihyperlipidemia statin group is the first choice of treatment of hyperlipidemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of antihyperlipidemic drugs, types of comorbidities, types of mechanisms and severity in stroke patients receiving antihyperlipidemic therapy at X Hospital, Indragiri Hilir Regency in 2022. Data were collected retrospectively in the form of 57 medical records of ischemic stroke patients with therapy inpatient antihyperlipidemia. Data analysis was carried out descriptively. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that the potential for drug interactions occurred in 87 (26.69%) cases that experienced interactions and 239 cases (73.31%) did not experience drug interactions. Based on the type of interaction, there were 84 pharmacokinetic interactions (96.55%) and pharmacodynamic mechanisms in 3 cases (3.45%). Based on the strength of the interaction, major interactions were found in 15 (17.24%) cases, moderate severity in 71 (81.61%) cases, and minor severity in 1 (1.15%) cases. Based on the interacting drugs, there were 3 most, namely atorvastatin with amlodipine 27 cases (31,03%), atorvastatin with clopidogrel 16 cases (18,40%), and simvastatin with amlodipine 15 cases (17,24%). For the statistical analysis of the chi square test, there was a significant relationship between severity and the number of drugs p=0.004, severity and age p=0.003, and there was no significant relationship between severity and comorbidities p=0.236.
