Abstract

This research aims to know how Plot Generator in assisting the teacher in a writing activity.This research used survey research design with quantitative method. Three English teachers participated as subjects of the research in senior high education in BARRU. The steps of collecting data were conducted by observation and questionnaire, The observation was conducted by distributed questionnaires to guide data as prior knowledge before conducting research. Questionnaire as the instrument of the research to gain the information related plot generator in assisting teacher in writing activity. The data were analyzed by using Likert Scale that presented by quantitative data. The results of this study indicate that Plot Generator assists the teacher in a writing activity by assist of function, source and content that is presented by teachers’ perception toward Plot Generator.

Abstract

Learning English is very important in this 21st Century where English has a big influence in all aspect of life. The right time to teach English is at the primary age because children have amazing abilities in studying a language. In the process of teaching English not only teacher’s support is needed but also parents’ involvement in this case parents as English Lecturer, it is not enough just in the school but also in the family environment. This research comes to investigate the involvement of Parents in the process of learning English for their children as young learners in this 21st century. The Researcher is quantitative research method, in order there are two instruments are provided as the procedure in collecting the data needed, these are questionnaire and interview. The sample consisted of 24 parents as the English lecturers and have children categorized as young learners in Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare and Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, in Indonesia. The result of this research shown that parents’ as English lecturers  have a very positive perspective in teaching English to their children as young learners more over English will support their children carrier in the future, but their involvement are not very intense.  Even though, they are excited to be involve in teaching English to their children as a foreign language for them without forgetting their local language, however they agreed that they can face some challenges in this process.

Abstract

The objective of this research was  to find out the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension by using Top-Down strategy in learning reading comprehension at SMA Negeri 1 Wajo. This research employed Pre-experimental method. The population of this research was eight classes of the Tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Wajo in academic year 2019/2020 with the total population were 242 students. The researcher took random sampling and chosen X MIA 1. The data of the research were collected by using the instrument, namely reading test. The result of data analysis showed that there was significant difference between the students’ score after they were taught by top-down strategy and before they were taught by using top-down strategy. It was proved by the mean score of post-test was higher than the mean score of pre-test (67.2042.56). Furthermore, the result of the p- value (0.00) was lower than α (0.000.05) which meant that H1 was accepted.

Abstract

Buginese Folksong  is a cultural product of Buginese ethnic. As a cultural product, it has been used as a medium of art expression to   convey various things on Buginese life, as an addition to the people entertainment medium. This research is fo- cused on four aspects, namely (1) the form, (2) the function, (3) the value, and (4) the defensive or perpetuation strategy. This research includes a qualitative research which employs hermeneutics theory. Based on the result on the research it was found the Buginese Folksong in form of Makkacaping and Elong, that function as the critical media in the social life of Buginese society and  contain philosophical, religious, and sociological values

Abstract

Masalah utama penelitian ini adalah bagaimana menerapkan dan melaksanakan bimbingan pendidikan (Educational Guidance) kepada siswa yang disesuaikan dengan bakat dan minat. Pelaksanaan bimbingan ini biasanya diberikan pada siswa yang duduk di kelas XII, karena di kelas ini sudah mau tamat di SLTA. Berarti mereka akan mempersiapkan diri memasuki PT yang nantinya juga memilih jurusan sesuai dengan bakat dan minatnya. Apabila siswa memilih jurusan berdasarkan bakat dan minatnya itu akan menunjang atau membantu mempercepat penyelesaian studinya dan dapat menunjukkan prestasi yang gemilang. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah membantu para siswa memahami dunia PT, disamping dapat memahami potensi yang dimikiki termasuk dapat memahami kelemahan-kelemahan yang ada pada diri mereka. Apabila siswa dapat memahami diri (self understanding) mereka, akan mudah menyesuaikan di dalam menempuh studi di Perguruan Tinggi (PT). Oleh karena itu mereka sangat butuh bimbingan pendidikan sebelum memasuki PT. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Developmenet) yang berdasarkan tahapan-tahapan penelitian seperti yang dikemukakan Borg and Gall (1989). Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, kuesioner, dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) pemberian bimbingan pendidikan selama ini yang dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri Parepare menunjukkan bahwa hasil survei yang dilakukan melalui wawancara dan observasi bersama dengan guru-guru BK, dan pemberian kuesioner kepada siswa di sekolah diketahui bahwa kegiatan layanan bimbingan pendidikan belum dilakukan secara intensif, tidak berkelanjutan, dan tidak terjadwal kepada peserta didik dan sifatnya temporer saja. (2) Pemberian bimbingan pendidikan di sekolah harus bersifat menarik (interesting) dan berterima (acceptable) menunjukkan belum maksimal. Hasil analisis data yang diperoleh melalui penelitian ini adalah: (a) uji ketepatan (accuracy), uji kelayakan (feasibity), dan uji kegunaan (utility). Implementasi pemberian bimbingan pendidikan memiliki rata-rata nilai yang tinggi yaitu 83,38%. (b) data tingkat memahaman diri siswa mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dari 150 responden yang diteliti memahaman diri sangat baik adalah 98 responden (65,3%) dan selebihnya adalah baik terdapat 52 responden (34,7%). Jika dilihat persentase pemberian bimbingan pendidikan sebelumnya adalah berbanding sangat terbalik dengan pemberian bimbingan pendidikan sesudahnya. (c) Hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai t = 40,790 dengan df = 149, sedangkan harga tabel pada t0,05 = 1,645 dengan nilai signifikan (P) = 0,000 < α = 0,05. Maka hipotesis yang berbunyi: Ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pemberian bimbingan pendidikan dengan pemahaman diri pada siswa di SMA Negeri Parepare, dinyatakan diterima.

Abstract

This study is based on the low interest of students in learning mathematics. The phenomenon was indicated by the activities of students who are often outside the classroom during mathematics learning, the students do not ask when there is confusing material, the students do not complete the task given, and some students are sleepy during the learning process. These conditions indicated a low level of learning interest. At the same time, interest is crucial in learning mathematics because it affects students' learning achievement. Regarding the condition, the teacher's role is to increase the student's learning interest by applying appropriate methods. One of the learning methods that is assumed to be able to attract students' learning interest is the fun learning method. The fun learning method in this study was applied through classroom action research with two learning cycles. This study aims to know the effect of fun learning methods on students' interest in mathematics. This study was conducted at VII.7 grade of SMP Negeri 1 Pinrang, South Sulawesi. The research instrument used was a questionnaire and an observation sheet. The data was collected through a questionnaire and observation, then the data collected was analysed using descriptive statistics. Indicators of increased interest obtained from questionnaires show an increase in the average percentage of student interest in learning from the moderate category of 2.88 to the good category of 4.08, which meets the average indicator of students' interest in learning mathematics of 3.50 in the good category. In contrast, other indicators are shown through the results of observations of student activity, namely an increase in the percentage of student activity from 44.2% to 75.4%, which met the success indicator of 75%. The result showed that the fun learning method could increase the student's interest in mathematics.Penelitian ini berawal dari rendahnya minat siswa belajar matematika. Gejala ditunjukkan adanya aktivitas siswa yang sering berada di luar kelas pada saat pembelajaran matematika berlangsung, siswa tidak bertanya ketika ada hal yang tidak diketahui pada materi yang diajarkan guru, siswa tidak mengerjakan soal-soal yang diberikan, serta beberapa siswa mengantuk saat pembelajaran matematika berlangsung. Kondisi ini mengindikasikan minat belajar yang rendah. Padahal peran minat sangat penting dalam pembelajaran matematika, karena merupakan faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Dengan kondisi tersebut, maka dibutuhkan peran guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa dengan menerapkan metode yang tepat. Salah satu metode pembelajaran yang diasumsikan dapat menarik minat belajar siswa adalah metode fun learning. Metode fun learning dalam penelitian ini diterapkan melalui penelitian Tindakan kelas sebanyak dua siklus pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode fun learning yang dapat meningkatkan minat belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian dilakukan dikelas VII7 SMP Negeri 1 Kabupaten Pinrang, Sulawesi Selatan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa lembar angket dan lembar observasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik angket dan teknik observasi, selanjutnya dianalisis secara statistic deskriptif. Indikator peningkatan minat yang diperoleh dari angket menunjukkan meningkatnya persentase rata-rata minat belajar siswa dari kategori cukup sebesar 2.88 menjadi kategori baik sebesar 4.08, memenuhi indikator rata-rata minat belajar matematika siswa sebesar 3,50 berada pada kategori baik, sedangkan indikator lain ditunjukkan melalui hasil observasi aktivitas siswa, yaitu meningkatnya persentase aktivitas siswa sebesar 44.2% menjadi 75.4%, memenuhi indikator keberhasilan sebesar 75%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Fun learning dapat meningkatkan minat siswa belajar matematika.

Abstract

This research aims to find out students' reading comprehension abilities before and after being taught using the Merdeka Menagajar Platform. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design. There isn't any control group. Researchers give pre-tests to students, and then researchers give students treatment of reading comprehension using the Merdeka Mengajar Platform. The sample of this research was seventh-grade students of UPTD SMPN 19 Barru, a total of 21 students. The results show that the average pre-test score of seventh-grade students at UPTD SMPN 19 Barru experienced a significant increase in the post-test after being taught using the Merdeka Mengajar Platform on treatment. The average student score in reading comprehension on the pre-test was 55.00 and on the post-test was 84.29. So there is an increase in students' reading comprehension. This study shows the value of the t-test is higher than t-table values (14,496 >2.09302). The results of the t-test calculation of student learning before and after being taught using the Merdeka Mengajar platform are greater than the t-table. Can it be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted? Researchers concluded that the use of the Merdeka Mengajar platform is a learning method that can improve reading comprehension ability in learning English.

Abstract

This article aims to review the literature on integrating poetry in English language learning (ELT) and evaluate how this can enhance linguistic and aesthetic appreciation among students. It seeks to identify the benefits, challenges, as well as best practices in the use of poetry as a pedagogical tool in ELT. This review used a systematic literature search method with databases such as Google Scholar, Mendeley, Science Direct, Taylor & Francis Online and other academic journals, using keywords such as “poetry in ELT”, “linguistic appreciation”, and “aesthetic appreciation”. Articles were selected based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria and then analyzed qualitatively to identify key themes and findings. The findings show that integrating poetry in ELT provides some significant benefits, including increased vocabulary, grammatical understanding, and phonological awareness. In addition, poetry also enriches students' aesthetic experience, enhances cultural appreciation, and promotes emotional engagement and creativity. However, challenges such as teachers' lack of preparedness and limited teaching materials require further attention. The use of poetry in ELT has great potential to enrich students' learning experiences both linguistically and aesthetically. The practical implications for teaching and curriculum development are extensive, and further research is needed to address the existing challenges and explore more effective teaching strategies.
