Abstract

The government issued a policy to conduct the teaching and learning process through online due to the covid-19.The class has experienced a shift in methods which previously made a direct observations to distance observation. Evaluation is one of the important components and stages that must be taken by teachers to determine the effectiveness of learning.The purpose of this study was to find out how students' perceptions (1) problems, (2) Satisfaction and (Effectiveness) as students in Shipbuilding Engineering semester 3 at PoliteknikNegeri Madura for online class with a focus on writing and reading materials.This study used a descriptive research with a quantitative approach due to its relation to the type of data and its analysis. (1) the data obtained shows that 93.3% of students have the main obstacle in taking online English classes is signal problems and 6.7% of students have sound and visibility problems when the class takes place. (2) the data showed that 50% of students choose the sufficient option, 43.3% choose satisfied and the remaining 6.7% choose less satisfied. (3) the data showed that 60% of students choose the quite effective option, 33.3% choose effective and the remaining 6.7% choose less effective.

Abstract

Evidence is mounting that teacher questions can assist students in various purposes in the teaching-learning process (Blosser, 2006; Bond, 2007; Cotton, 2007). The teacher tends to deliver a simple to the complex level of question, for the discussion can run smoothly (Bloom’s taxonomy level, 1956). Despite this, a variety of good questions will not guarantee that the interactive classroom will be created, the teacher needs to employ rephrasing, redirecting, probing, and reinforcement in her questioning (Goodwin et al, 1992). However, practically, teachers ask a large number of questions, which somehow they fail in doing questioning strategies (Wragg and Brown, 2001:p.28). This conceptual article describes the teacher’s questioning strategies in facilitating students’ learning and promoting their thinking skills. It highlights the fact that a teacher who has initially lack the ability to teach higher thinking skills can make considerable progress in terms of applying her knowledge in the classroom (Zohar Dori, 2011). This article ends by arguing for some changes that need to occur in effective classroom questioning, including the need to give a stronger description of the extent of the level of question and the questioning strategies, which the teacher employed.

Abstract

To carry out formative assessments, the ESRU model is used to analyze all utterances indicated as teachers' strategies in implementing informal formative assessments. The ESRU model begins with the initiation of the teacher in asking questions to generate student thoughts, then the students provide responses to the teacher's initiation questions. Furthermore, student responses can be recognized by teachers and teachers provide feedback on student responses. A case study on ESP classes was observed to investigate in depth information dealing with the ESRU Model implementation. It revealed that teacher-students interaction was dominantly occured, teacher can use information to support learning and modify their learning to help students achieve learning targets that are determined together. Thus the existing gap can be minimized, both students and teachers can benefit from the information obtained from informal formative assessments.

Abstract

Improving the content and classroom materials design for English Classrooms at any vocational high school level is a tough job. English teachers at SMK levels found it challenging to integrate their classrooms materials to fulfill the vocational needs of their students. No denying to the fact that Vocational English has set a different framework compare to general English classes at the similar level of education. This study aims as a joint research partnership and as well as a platform to improve and create variety of English Vocational Materials for SMK classes in Sampang area. Around 7 public vocational high schools were involved in this study, providing a thorough information of its students’ needs for ESP purposes. The materials included knowledge about syllabus writing and the creation of independent teaching materials in the classroom as well as the implementation of reading, writing, and listening and speaking which are targeted to two different goals, UNBK and ESP improvements. The activity of developing English teaching materials is also expected to improve the final results of UNBK Students in English subjects. The study has resulted in the findings of challenges of teaching and developing materials for ESP classes, learning and teaching weaknesses triumph with the models, and the possible future solutions for ESP teaching at SMK level. The study also resulted in the initiative project collaboration with MKKS SMK in Sampang area to pioneer Sampang Vocational Camp 2020.

Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman dan tuntutan perubahan jenis pembelajaran yang ada, maka perubahan jenis pembelajaran di Politeknik Negeri Madura termasuk perubahan pembelajaran mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris sangat dibutuhkan. Jenis pembelajaran yang akan diterapkan di Politeknik Negeri Madura adalah jenis pembelajaran “Project Based Learning” atau PBL. PBL adalah jenis pembelajaran yang menitik pusatkan kepada pembelajar dalam hal ini adalah mahasiswa. Jenis pembelajaran ini sangat menuntut mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah secara nyata yang direkayasa oleh dosen yang bertindak sebagai fasilitator. Asesmen adalah suatu proses atau kegiatan yang sistematis dan berkesinambungan untuk mengumpulkan informasi tentang proses dan hasil belajar peserta didik dalam rangka membuat keputusan-keputusan berdasarkan kriteria dan pertimbangan tertentu. Penelitian ini akan mengkaji secara detail tentang kebutuhan awal mengenai instrumen asesmen atau penilaian pada jenis pembelajaran PBL di mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris di Politeknik Negeri Madura. Berdasarkan data yang diambil dari hasil pengamatan lapangan atau observasi yang dilakukan, dengan memperhatikan rancangan pembelajaran PBL yang ada pada jurusan Teknik Listrik Industri dan pelaksanaan kelas PBL pada proyek Project Mobil Listrik, analisis kebutuhan instrumen penilaian pada kelas PBL menunjukkan bahwa jenis penilaian yang dibutuhkan pada kelas PBL adalah jenis penilaian autentik.

Abstract

The demand for Vocational Education graduates to have the skills that are needed in the work place is a challenge for these Vocational Education institutions. Various efforts in teaching methods at Vocational Education institutions have been carried out with the intention of increasing the competitiveness of Vocational Education. Practice has the largest percentage in vocational education. Multimedia utilization; practice and work with groups; take advantage of the surrounding environment; as well as multiple aspects. One of the kinds in learning that fits with the previous explanation is the type of Project Based Learning or PBL. Learning evaluation is the process of obtaining data and information needed to determine how far and how learning has taken place in order to be able to make the necessary judgments and improvements to maximize results. The purpose of this research is to examine the needs analysis of assessment instruments in humanities courses, especially in English course. After having an attention to the stages of analysis of the questions in this study, it can be concluded that the types of assessment needed in learning evaluation activities in Project Based Learning or PBL classes are: (1) types of learning evaluation in the form of Authentic Assessments; (2) the type of learning evaluation is in the form of an Test Assessment.

Abstract

Pelatihan dasar robot ARM bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat dan bakat siswa di bidang Teknologi Elektro. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh siswa-siswi Se-Pamekasan dan bertempat di Aula SMAN 4 Pamekasan. Pelatihan ini diadakan sebagai penunjang dalam perkembangan teknologi yang semakin pesat dan menyiapkan generasi muda untuk menghadapi tantangan di industri 4.0. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan mencakup teori dasar mengenai robotika, pengenalan komponen robot ARM, serta praktek langsung dalam merakit, memprogram robot ARM melalui aplikasi Arduino IDE, serta dapat mengupload program ke Arduino. Robot Arm dikendalikan oleh joystick adalah sebuah sistem mekanik yang dapat digerakkan dan dikendalikan secara manual menggunakan joystick. Hasil dari pelatihan ini siswa dapat merakit dan memprogram robot ARM sehingga dapat berfungsi dengan baik. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi modal bagi siswa-siswi SMA dalam melanjutkan ditingkat perkuliahan. Pelatihan ini juga dapat berkontribusi dalam pengembangan sumber daya manusia yang kompeten di bidang teknologi elektro.

Abstract

Penggunaan traktor merupakan salah satu perkembangan teknologi di bidang pertanian. Adapun pengembangan pada traktor tangan yaitu Smart Tractor. Smart Tractor merupakan traktor tangan yang telah dimodifikasi menjadi sistem kendali jarak jauh untuk mempermudah petani dalam membajak sawah. Namun dengan adanya teknologi tersebut mengakibatkan munculnya sebuah permasalahan baru seperti pencurian, penggunaan yang tidak sesuai lokasi dan lain sebagainya. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, diperlukan sistem pengaman pada Smart Tractor. Sistem pengaman tersebut dibuat menggunakan Modul GPS sebagai sensor posisi, Node MCU ESP32 sebagai mikrokontroler, dan Relay. Sistem keamanan ini juga dilengkapi fitur (Internet of Thing) IoT melalui aplikasi thinger i.o. sehingga dapat diakses melalui smartphone. Data yang dikirimkan oleh Modul GPS adalah data titik koordinat latitude dan longitude serta gambar berupa maps yang ditampilkan pada dashboard thinger i.o. dan dapat diakses melalui smartphone. Hasil pembacaan Modul GPS divalidasi keakuratannya dengan pembacaan Google Maps. Sistem keamanan juga dilengkapi dengan Relay yang terhubung dengan aki. Tujuannya adalah untuk memutuskan aki apabila objek mengalami tindak pencurian. Relay juga dapat diakses menggunakan smartphone. Secara keseluruhan, sistem pengaman pada Smart Tractor ini memiliki hasil yang akurat, dibuktikan dengan nilai maksimal error yang kecil sebesar 0.0009% untuk data longitude dan 0.0012% untuk data latitude.
