Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain: (1) The structure of Kuntowijoyo's novel Wasripin and Satinah, (2) The value of character education contained in Kuntowijoyo's Wasripin and Satinah novel, (3) Relevance of structural review and educational values character of  novel Wasripin and Satinah as a literary material in high school. This form of research is descriptive qualitative research. The data sources of this research are novel and informants. Technique of taking research subject is purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used is technique read dan write dan interviews. Test the validity of data using triangulation of data sources and theory. Data analysis technique used is flow analysis technique. Based on the data analysis, the results of the research conclude as follows: (1) the structure of Wasripin and Satinah novels by Kuntowijoyo covering themes, plot, characterization and character, interrelated background and point of view (2) character education values contained in novel Wasripin and Satinah is 15, that is religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, democratic, curiosity, love homeland, friendship / communicative, peace loving, caring environment, social care and responsibility, (3) Wasripin and Satinah novels are relevant as literary teaching materials in high school because they meet the eligibility criteria of non-text book personality aspects of the material and presentation of the material.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to describe: (1) id psychology on the main character in Atheis novel by Achdiat Karta Mihardja; (2) ego psychology on the main character in the Atheis novel; (3) super-ego psychology on the main character in the Atheis novel; (4) the educational value contained in the Atheis novel; (5) its relevance as teaching material in learning literature appreciation in high school.This research uses descriptive qualitative method with psychology approach of literature. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with psychology approach of literature. The data obtained by researchers coming from Atheis novel, interviews with writers, lecturers of Indonesian language studies program, teachers and students. The validity of data is obtained through triangulation theory. Data were analyzed using analysis techniques interactive.The conclusions of this study were (1) the psychology of the main character in the Atheis novel by Achdiat Karta Mihardja is a Hasan character who suffers from psychiatric disorder that is the uncertainty of choosing religious belief (2) there are eleven grades of character traits contained in Atheis novel, they are religious values, tolerance, hard work, social caring, curiosity, friendship, responsibility, self-reliance, peace, discipline, like to read (3) Atheis novel is relevant to the literary learning material in senior high school because it contains many moral messages and good character education value for students.

Abstract

This research  aims to explain: (1) social background of Pajang  novel writer; (2) the sociological background of Pajang  novel by Wawan Susetya; (3) readers' responses to Pajang's novel by Wawan Susetya; (4) the value of character education contained in Pajang's novel by Wawan Susetya; and (5) the relevance of Pajang's  novel by Wawan Susetya as a literary learning material in high school. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and using a study of sociology of literature. The result of this research is description about: (1) social background of Pajang novel writer covering aspect of race, moment (moment), and environment (milieu); (2) Sociological background of Pajang's work by Wawan Susetya includes social  group,  culture,  social  institution, stratification, and  power;  (3) readers' responses  to  Pajang's  novel by  Wawan Susetya;  (4)  the  value  of  character education contained in the Pajang  novel by Wawan Susetya include religious, tolerance, hard work, democratic, curiosity, nationalism, achievement, friendly / communicative, social, and responsibility; (5) the relevance of Pajang's  novel by Wawan Susetya as a literary learning material in Senior High School which is adapted to the content aspect, presentation aspect, language aspect, and graphictions aspect.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain (1) the intrinsic element of novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (2) the emotional condition of the character depicted in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi according to Sigmund Freud’s theory, (3) the values of character education contained in the novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi, (4) the relevancy of novel Rantau 1 Muara by Ahmad Fuadi as a teaching material for literary appreciation class in Senior High School level. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with literary psychology approach. Data collection was carried out with document analysis techniques and indept interviews. The validity data test has been done using triangulation theory technique and data triangulation. The analysis of data was conducted using flow analysis i.e, the data reduction, data presentation, and conclutions determination. The results of the study are (1) the intrinsic elements that build the novel Rantau 1 Muara are theme, characterizations, plot, settings, and author’s point of view; (2) the emotional  conditions experienced by characters in the novel Rantau 1 Muara are influenced by three elements i.e, id, ego, and superego; (3) the value of character education that contained in the novel Rantau 1 Muara there are 13 values including religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hardwork, independent, curiosity, spirit of nationality, love the country, friendly/ communicate, like reading, concern to social issue, and responsibly; (4) novel Rantau 1 Muara can be used as an alternative teaching material of literary appreciation class in Senior High School level.

Abstract

Javanese is one of the famous culture that owned by Indonesia. As one of the culture that enough reckoned , javanese had a wide range of science .Not only the mosaic customs and any kind of a ceremony that he had, but the woman too. This study was a qualitative research aiming to describe negative labeling/ stereotype existing inside javanese women. Used a technique of analysis contents and interview, researchers will processing the data in the form of quotations novel with three stages: reduction , display data and data verification. The result of research showed that there were several negative labels. Firstly, men are considered as smarter than women, so that can be family’s more pride. Secondly, women having protruding breast are equivalent to ledhek or prostitute. Thirdly, gelung/sanggul (hair bun) is a symbol of women’s beauty. Fourthly, women producing sound of smacking lips during eating are just like animal. Fifthly, kitchen becomes basic standard of ability of taking care of husband and future household. .As part of science, feminism need to introduced to school through language class.
